This is a way to tame a spino. If you click on it then you will guaranteed find a way to successfully knock out and tame a spino.

Me and my friend came across one of these in our aberration server and we wanted to tame it but we’re were nowhere near strong enough to tranq it to death without extra protection. And our luck was great and it was busy attacking things beside a river. We had built our hut farther upstream and had a raft. Being the ignorants we are we spent an hour trying to figure out how to tame the thing and then my friend came up with an idea. So we basically reinforced our entire raft with stone walls, foundations, and ceilings. We put windows in the walls that way we could shoot it without being totally open. We eventually knocked it unconscious and fed it raw fish and regular meat along with about two raw prime meat as well. We kept it knocked out by force feeding it narcoberries and then we tamed it and named it Spencer.

I constructed a 3x3x3 stone doorway trap with wooden ramps to give him something to whack at while I pumped him full of tranqs.

While I was knocking this guy to tame him he suddenly ran away SO FREAKING FAST HE SHOVED HIS HEAD IN A CLIFF. Good thing he hit a cliff because if not, it would be day 1000 and me and my argy would still be chasing after him.

If you want to tame a Spino, use a typical 4x4 trap, and if possible, lure it with a Pteranodon or Argentavis and put it in the trap. You can probably use a tranquilizer arrow, but tranquilizer bullets are more effective. Once you put it to sleep, put meat, marbled meat, fish meat, otoro, and kibble in your inventory. You can also get food locally. The unlock level for the saddle is 71.

Okay so, I have a spino egg. I don’t know the BEST way to hatch it. Does anyone have any tips to help me out with?

It's harder than it sounds but it works for me.

According to me, spino is better than rex, I am saying this because it is a beast in underwater and it is also a beast on land.

BRING A LOAD OF NARCOTICS. I cannot stress this enough. Their torpor drain rate is high and will go down very fast. I tamed a level ten and he took 150+ narcotics honestly you can't bring enough narcotics. Take as many narcotics as possible. Bring bio toxin only if you have access to it. Narcotics work great though!

Just use a tapajara to cling to the surface of a cliff, and shot the spine at the bottom. Super easy and does not require a trap. Tamed a level 140 this way.

Build yourself a taming pin, 5×5 floor, either use stone dino gate or wooden ramps for entry and use stone door frame or pillar built 3-4x tall, to ensure you don't get attack. Meanwhile taming it with a bow/cross with tranq arrow use their preferred taming food and always have Narcs to feed it.

Go on a cliff have a simple rifle at hand shoot it with tranqs and have a fly boy so you can go down I used 15 prime meat I play Xbox so yeah great experience.

Genesis X-Spinos are worth the tame. They are like Bog Rexes that can swim. If you try to tame it, be careful to build a trap higher than normal Dino gates made of stone with a ramp on one side. This Dino needs Behemoth gates to fit through them, so anything smaller than that, but a bit larger than a Dino gate will do. Had one get stuck in my standard Dino gate trap, but it jumped out once it’s torpor got high and it found an area of gate that wasn’t perfectly level with the others and jumped right over and ran off. Taming with standard gates is possible, only if they are perfectly level with each other. Having a trap made of stone fence supports and door frames stacked super high will make escape impossible. Pillars work too, but make sure it can’t slip through them.

If you have a direbear with good health you can tank the hits while you shoot from its back and catch it when it runs away.

I tamed a Lv 80 spino with raw prime meat

I used 200+ narcotics and 40+ bio toxin

I just tamed it by going on a high cliff with my pteranadon then shooting it with my crossbow, then doing the usual meat and narcotics. However it was killed shortly after by a bronto. R.I.P Haddasah.

The Spino, while dealing a ton of damage, can retreat if it is low on hp, and is very, very fast on land. I only know this from mobile, but it could be true for pc. This also applies for when it is high on torpor, which makes it more difficult to tame, but it is in fact doable, so long as it collapses before it lands in an aggro area/ body of water.

For mobile players, here’s what you gotta do.

A spino requires a bunch of narcotics while it’s knocked out, not to mention the amount of trank arrows you’re gonna need. So get to grinding some narcotics and tranks on your herb mount.

Next we have to think about food, I think cooked meat will be enough for your hunger, but for the spino, they prefer argy kibble (cooking pot: one water skin,mejoberries,fiber,citronal, prime meat jerky,argy egg). A level 280 spino took me 3 kibble to tame, despite Dodo dex telling me I needed 4. The easiest way to get kibble is to just get a cooking bench from the amber store. But if you don’t have amber, or you’re in early game and can’t get argy eggs, prime meat will work alright.

For the knocking out you will require a trap, even if you aren’t in early game, the spino starts running when it’s on low health/torpor running. And most of the times you won’t be able to catch up.4 Stone gateways placed like this

__. Should do the trick(might not be visible). Just make it so that one of the gates isn’t placed yet since the spino will actually need to walk INTO the trap first.

If you’re on single player just save it manually before attempting this since it might not work the first time.

If you’re on multiplayer, just set up a bunch of sleeping bags(or a bed) where your area is.

Get the spinos attention and start RUNNING this thing is super fast and unless your trap is really near or you have a flying mount, there is no way you’re outrunning it. Once it’s in the trap, make sure it agros on to it, you’ll know it does this when it turns its head to look at the trap and starts trying to hit it, quickly go behind it and place the gateway quickly.

Now for the knocking out part, crossbows and long necks work best but if you don’t have any of those you can use a bow, just make sure to have the materials to repair it.

Once it’s knocked out make sure you have all those narcotics you grinded for, because at the rate this think needs narcotics, it might as well be on the taming chart for #1 favorite food.

After that just wait a bit and BOOM, you have a new tame!
