One thing about Spinos is that they really really REALLY love to make babies, I had two Spinos Finn and Spinnerella, TWO! And when I came back from a hunt to make a saddle I had 3. Let me tell you they almost always come out female I swear to god, so later I had 5, then 9 then 13 because some were boys and now I have 26 in 10 hours and a lot of fertilized eggs. (Also I play on a solo unmodified server on island with the smallest little hut with a moschops, a big eagle thing, a Rex, a turtle, 2 pteranodons, a Tapejara, 2 parasaurs, a trike, a monkey, a beaver, a small raptor, an anky, a small handful of lysta- things that you pet, 12 raptors, an otter, and exactly 48 dodos that are about 500 hp and damage for each one. And after Finn and Spinnerella getting in bed constantly and a lot of incest I have a growing army.) so with all that said get a male and a female Spino, and don’t be stupid like me and getting close to one with a sarco to see its gender. Just get a spyglass.

Honestly my favorite dino. As many people have already said, it's a great swimmer, higher dps than a rex when on 2 legs, supersonic on 4 legs especially with hydration buff. One thing I don't see mentioned is that they climb uphill very well on 4 legs. Overall way better than a rex yet still so overshadowed by it. Probably due to bias from JP... I have two ways you can use to tame tame this. One for lower levels and one for higher levels.

First what you need (based of my experience)

About 30 tranq darts (you might need more or lees depending on wich method you use (etc))

About 30 narotics

A lot of fish meat (or prime fish meat) (or kibble)

And some bio toxin

1st : the easy way. This way dosen’t require dying all the time but you can only do it if you have large bear traps. What you do is you put the bear traps a bit away for each other in a line and run up to it and then to the traps. Then shoot it with tranq darts. If you don’t knock it out let it chase you to the next bear trap and tranq it again. It took me about 30 tranq darts (I missed some). Then feed it prime fish meat (or normal but normal takes longer) or you can do it the 2nd way

2nd way; This is for lower levels who have a bow and tranq arrows but not a bear trap. What you do is :

.shoot from distance with tranq arrows and run and shoot. If you die go back and continue shooting and running. When you knock it out put fish meat in it’s inventory (might take a while) and don’t forget the narotics!.

Tip:

I recommend you use bio toxin.

Find one,wait for it to agro on something,shoot it with your 200 plus damage crossbow 5 times,you have a super rex

if you don’t want to fight any super dangerous stuff that give raw prime fish meat you can kill saber tooth salmon who aren’t that hard to kill you can 1 hit the with a axe

After taming one all I can say is that it's basically a rex but more agile.

If you’re low level and have a spoon near your base, try to hopefully find some trikes to deal with it. I’ve seen trikes go ham with spinos, and they come in groups, which gives them the better advantage. I watched a group of trikes deal with two spinos that were near my base and I was absolutely thrilled!

They easily get distracted I was trying to get one into a trap but it had to dispose of the wildlife first

There's a really good spot to find spinos near the green obelisk on the island there's a shallow water area and there almost always been a spino there for me

These thing are stronger then a red and a Lot of the time more common than a Rex. It also gets a water buff. 1 👆 = one prayer to my passive spino’s death to a megalodon.

I mean lots. You are never safe.

Probably one of the BEST mounts in the game. Can kill land animals and water animals with ease. Are fast as sonic. And is overpowered in the water. (Great for harvesting beaver dams).

Spinos are the kings of versatility their decently fast and extremely strong and they also excel in gathering meat and hide

For those low levels who want to kill the spino, the probably the 4th hardest hitter in the game; first, you need to find a wild brontosaurus. Next, let the spino spot you, after that, you run under the brontosaurus and the spino will lose interest in you and will attack it instead. After the Spino’s first attack, run. The Bronto’s tail will hit you by accident so just run while popping stimberries in your mouth to maintain your stamina. After it is low on health, it will flee. But if you want to kill it and not let the spino escape the pursuit of the Bronto, Get the ascendant bow and kill it. You need to have a good aim though, it’s considered to be a very fast creature.

These guys are arguably the kings of mid game progression tames because they are an all around pick with it being a t rex a baryonix and a monster of its own, they are way easier to find as well, with them spawning in most mid sized rivers and small lakes. Hope this was helpfull.

Faster than a Rex, semi-aquatic, and they still do decent damage along with having the hydration buff. Great PvE travel mount (I've only ever played singleplayer). Basic square stone gateway trap, you might wanna bring 100-200 tranq arrows to be safe. Recommend to try at least once.

Most think u can not take larger Dino's till higher levels but this is wrong if u lead a spino towards a beach it has high agro range so it will attack anything while u make ur way to a cliff then us a bow with tranq arrows to nock it out and prime meat it
