Taming & KO Tips

How do I tame a sinomacrops? Tips and strategies on taming and knocking out a sinomacrops.
How to tame:
You’ll find these in the jungle like biome at approximately 46 longitude & 63 latitude. They fly around the lakes there.
-you need to put Chitin in your last hotbar slot
-don’t wear chitin armor (will agro them)
-don’t wear ghillie armor they won’t see you and will not come to you
find one of these then keep a good distance (~50 meters)
stand still until red hearts pop up around it’s body. It will come to you naturally (be patient) after they land they will crawl up to you and you feed them chitin. Now the tricky part. After feeding them they will fly away hysterically. You need to follow them (at a distance of about 40-70 metres) you can track them with the tame radar available next to the tribe log. Keep your distance and check if they want to come to you by standing still about 50 metres away. Repeat the feeding and there you go.
Great for daily tasks such as flying up a cliff!
super useful early game tame that can be found pretty commonly around the map. check jungles and forests, also the swampy falls area on the southern coast of the island (spirit falls I believe is the official name)
Guys if you are wearing ghillie they will not see you and come back for more chitin, so take it off and you can tame em.
I find that the best place to tame sinos is in that valley near green obelisk since they spawn everywhere there and it’s hard for them to fly away because of the high walls, plus there is an arthro spawn nearby for chitin
Don't move after you see hearts till it lands at your feet, you will spook it and it zooms away. Your tames also spook it, cryo them, shoulder pets included.
Passive tame with chitin in last slot, use tame tracker to keep track of where it goes.
Best tame in lost Island can and will save you countless number of time
Since trapping it doesn't work anymore I Just follow it around with a rockdrake on camo mode this way it wont get scared and you can see when it lands for more chitin
I usually use 2 people and a raft. One person sailing the raft the other just standing then sail around and get some following the person on the raft and sail a little ways out (around 30-40 meters) then tame. I’ve tamed around 6-9 this way. Like if this was helpful
Make a raft and lead them to it and the taming is so much easier
Passive tame, use Chitin and track it with your dino tame menu. don’t chase after it unless it goes more than 100m away or it is close to the ground, when i games mine i just crouched the whole time and it worked.
After you tame it make sure you have a lot of chitin to feed this guy, might be my new favourite as you can use it for taming, transport, building, or escaping.
PUMP ALL POINTS INTO STAM on this guy, i don’t think speed does much and the weight doesn’t matter
Spawn at either Boscar zone on Lost Island next to the wetland/swamp area, much easier to find them here than in the north jingle. Very easy to get chitin from meganeura and dung beetles, just watch out for titanoboa
The river canyon at 70/55 is a great spot. The high walls on both sides of the river prevent them from going far. Only follow them up to 60m using the tame tracker. At that point wait for them to head back your way and at 40m they will get hearts and head back for another feeding. If the are still flying away from you only follow at a walk stopping when they get back within 60m.
These guys are skittish when you're walking or sprinting or even using a mount they will fly away! You must crouch or else it won't work, my technique is use a few wild flowers while flying in the jungle region. That will agro them and they will chase you then lure them to the beach where you have a raft waiting. Then they will not be able to hide in the jungle to be killed therefore messing up your tame. Follow them over the sea in the raft as they fly over the ocean they can't land but after the agro is over they will land on your raft then you can easily feed them chitin.Be sure to follow them around with the raft and when they land don't walk crouch to feed them. Repeat driving raft and following until they land on your raft again. Very easy
All you have to do is find one you want, get naked, have a cage on your hot bar, crouch and wait for it to come to you while staying crouched turn around and place cage and open, slowly walk around it will follow kite in cage close, slowly walk back to front and feed until tamed.
On console, the easiest method I have found to tame these is to put a wooden cage on top of them when they walk up to you. No flying away, just feed and wait for them to come back up to you!
Chitin in last slot.
Approach slowly. As soon as you see hearts stop 💕. It will come to you. Feed it the chitin and let it fly away and continue to STAY STILL until it gets a ways away. Follow until the interval time. Approach slowly after 30 meters. Wait for hearts and DONT MOVE.
REPEAT
Will land on a raft if it flies out to sea on you. So just chase it with a raft.
Don't try to tame it with a scary tame next to you. It doesn't work.
They seem to run away if your on a tame and if you get to close you have to let them come to you and it shows hearts and the fly and hop towards you when your ready. Keep chitin in your hot bar and feed once they get close to you. Then follow using the dino tracker but keep a decent distance and watch for surrounding dangers and repeat this process until tamed. They surprisingly don't use as much Stamina to fly up as I would have expected and are over all cute and impressive shoulder pets. You can't trap them by the way! And good luck taming them!
Easy passive tame, feed chitin and use tame tracker to follow it around. When it's hungry again it will come to the player if the player is close by.
