Ultimus Chapter 6: Time Displacement
Andrew stood there staring at the clock. He couldn’t begin to imagine that he was asleep for over 700 years. And since the clock died, he didn’t know how far in the future he was. He was lost in time, and would never see anyone from before. He didn’t even get to say goodbye to Rue. He didn’t know what to think, all of this seemed absolutely impossible.
He shuffled outside and saw his dog. Still staring at the dinosaur. What was it anyway, a Tricycloplots? He still wasn’t sure. He went over and sat next to his dog. And began to stroked him. He still needed to find a name for him. He looked at him and smiled.
“What should I name you?” Andrew said out loud, the dog lifted his head and stared at Andrew. He thought for a moment, trying to figure out what was the perfect name. But all he could think about was his last conversation with Rue. Her trying to name him. He looked up and sighed and then looked back down at his dog.
“How about Samuel?” Andrew asked his dog, the dog looked back at the dinosaur. Andrew took that as a no and continued down the list.
Time passed on and he was beginning to exhaust his supply of names he had for the dog, none of which did the dog seem interested in nor did Andrew.
“Let’s see, Hunter?” Andrew said, the dog still stared at the grazing beast.
“Rex? Rover? Spot?” Andrew sped through, all of which the dog seemed to dislike. He had went through all the names he had thought of since he first got the dog. Except the other name that Rue said.
“Rue?” Andrew said, the dog didn’t look. Andrew was disappointed. He went through all the names he had and couldn’t find one that was good enough. But a name popped into his head and he
“Reuben?” Andrew said, the dog raised its head and looked at Andrew.
“Reuben?” Andrew said again, the dog’s tail started thumping against the floor. Andrew smiled at the sight.
“Reuben it is.” He said smiling. Andrew got up and went into the shed. Everything was off, he walked around and saw the doors were missing on the Tek cabinet and saw all the old weapons and ammunition sitting there. Andrew reached in and grabbed a couple guns from the rack and their ammunition. He wasn’t sure what to expect from this place if there’s dinosaurs roaming around. Who knows what else might be out there? He also saw a couple manuals for the guns he was taking and thought that it was probably a good idea to get those too.
Andrew carried them inside the house, he decided to that if he was going to survive. He was going to use this place and not try to go looking for somewhere else. But he would need to clean it up before anything. He wanted to try to figure out what to do next, but he couldn’t live in a place that was trying to kill him everytime he sat down.
Journey Chapter 37
Back on Scorched Earth, several hours before.
Forest, Crimson and Nightfall waited in the dark as the flaming bird seemingly died and turn to dust. Forest was amazed, he had never seen or heard of a creature ever like that before. Nightfall explained to him that the bird was called a phoenix, a bird made of fire. And that they only can survive during the superheats, and that at the end of each superheat they turn to ashes to wait until the next superheat. He also believes that humans are the only key for a phoenix to ever live normally outside a superheat. Forest wasn’t sure if he believed the last part, but he was amazed and saddened by the life of a phoenix.
“Forest, where’s your bag?” Crimson asked after getting some more water.
Forest completely forgot about loosing his bag and the Rune. The phoenix had distracted him from his problems, but he didn’t know how to answer them. “I, uh…I- I don’t know, I lost it. I don’t think I grabbed it off of Methuselah in the panic.” Forest said.
“And was the Rune in your bag?” Nightfall asked, Forest nodded. Nightfall started squawking something and Crimson jaw dropped.
“You lost our only way out of this place.” Nightfall exclaimed. “Yes.” Forest said.
“We’re dead, we’re all going to die!!” Nightfall yelled in panic,
“You don’t have to exaggerate Nightfall, We’ll go look for it after Methuselah finds u-” “You don’t get it do you, if we’re here for even an extra day. The Order will hunt us down like prey, and they will no matter the circumstances or what animals we have with us. They will find a way to exterminate us.” Nightfall said interrupting Crimson.
“How can they hunt us down, you were in a different place and they don’t have runes. So what’s the big deal?” Crimson asked.
“Did you not hear what I said earlier, they can communicate across the Arks by using the obelisks. They will announce a hunt for our head and they will hunt us down on any Ark we are on including this one!!” Nightfall said panicking.
“Who can communicate through the Arks?” A voice said coming into view, it was Methuselah. Forest gave a sigh of relief.
“We’re glad you’re okay!!” Forest said.
“I’m okay, it felt good to fight something. Haven’t had a good fight in a long time. But I thought I didn’t expect you three to go to the third oasis away from us. I searched the desert for hours thinking you three got lost.” Methuselah said, he seemed worried. This felt, odd.
“Well, we did get lost. But we had some help finding this oasis. Though they are help is… no longer here.” Forest said, Methuselah nodded.
“Phoenix, wasn’t it?” he said, Nightfall nodded “yeah, they love they’re heat. Probably knew the one that lead you here.”.
Forest looked at Methuselah. He had a couple of new gashes on his back and underbelly from the mandibles of those creatures, and his largest spike on his back now partially gone. Forest also took a moment to noticed several burns, all being different type of burns. All damaging his scales and even his flesh for one of them. He wondered what did this to him.
“Hey!! That’s Forest’s bag!!” Crimson yelled. Forest didn’t even realize that within Methuselah’s talon, was Forest’s bag.
“Ah, so it’s your bag, drake. I found it in the dunes where we were fighting. I had a strange feeling that I should grab it, I’m glad I did.” Methuselah said, this sounded oddly familiar to Forest. But he wasn’t sure from where he heard it before.
“Here, check and see if everything’s inside. It got really thrown around out there in the dunes.” Methuselah said as he threw the bag at Forest. Forest caught it and held it. He opened it up and started pulling stuff out. He noticed a few things were missing, but the rune was still there. He grabbed it and pulled it out of the bag. It was glowing a bit more than it was before. It’s green light shined beautifully in the dark night.
“Is that the rune?” He asked, Forest looked at him for a moment.
“It’s beautiful, it. Reminds me of a story I was told as a hatchling.” he said, Forest shot a glance of surprise at the old pseudisuchian.
“What story?” Forest asked,
“I’ll tell you later, right now you all should get what you need to drink or eat while not moving. The rest of the journey will take all night and most of the morning to get there.” Methuselah said, Forest looked at him and nodded. Then he went off to the watering hole with Crimson.
“Well that was… weird and totally not suspicious.” Crimson said sarcastically.
“Yeah, I don’t know what that was about.” Forest said,
“Let’s just get ready and hope this guy isn’t going to murder us.”
Nightfall watched the two leave and went to the watering hole to make sure they were ready for the trip. He turned and looked at Methuselah.
“So, when are you going to tell them?”
“what are you talking about?”
“Look, I am not young like them and I’m more knowledgeable about the Arks and their cultures’ they have.” Nightfall said, Methuselah looked down at him and snorted.
“Yeah, what about it?”
“I know about the World’s Scar and its residents. And I know that they have a mysterious legend that originated about three hundred years ago, but I don’t know what it is. I know also of their rituals. Which for some reason you have partaken in. The only reason I have let you help us this far is because I hope they can help us out of this place and get further ahead away from who is hunting us down.” Nightfall said, Methuselah gave him a look. A too smart for your own good type of look.
“Catch up with your friends, and don’t tell them your conspiracies. Your quite the imaginative creature, I don’t want you to scare them over old stories and silly untruths about them.” Methuselah said, he looked genuine. Nightfall nodded.
“I wasn’t planning on it, and I usually don’t believe in stereotypes about most of them. Except for the hate of my kind from them. Is that true?” Nightfall asked.
“Go with your friends. They’ll need you, and so will you.”
~
Crimson watched the night sky on the back of Methuselah, she sat there staring into the sky alone. Forest had gone asleep a little bit ago. Nightfall took this upon himself to catch a few hours of sleep too before he would be up for days on end. Methuselah swam through the sand like it was the open sea. And she didn’t think he would notice her.
She thought about Rust, she was still mad at him for the dodo brain thing he did. Enough to clamp her jaws around his throat long enough to make him raspy. But she wondered if he was alright, if he was like her out there in an unknown world to him. He was alone, and up against who knows what. They had giant worms, living rocks, and this place made you dream of finding cool water flowing into your mouth. If he was anywhere like this place, and that he had no friends to help him out. It made her worry about him all the more.
It wasn’t like that she didn’t care about the other’s though. She was just worried about him most with his big blabber mouth. She was worried for the other’s too, but Spark knew how to handle herself. Nyx should be fine too, she seems to handle it well. At least she thought she did. She was probably fine. Rust was one she worried about because he had no self control over his big, toothy, kinda cute, trap. She sighed, maybe she was just worrying for no reason.
She needed to get her mind off of these thoughts or she would never get any sleep. She looked over at Forest and his bag, and took a couple steps forward before grabbing the bag with her mouth and pulling it over to her. She wanted to see the rune, she never got to hold it or really look at it before. And she wanted to see what the fuss was, why Forest really didn’t like it. What was the big deal anyway, besides getting them into this mess via Rust.
She opened the bag to see the rune on top of all of Forest’s stuff. It glowed rhythmically in the night with it’s green. She grabbed it with her paw and held it without doing anything with it. It felt strange, almost alien to the touch. It wasn’t the same temperature as everything else she felt either, it was like it was alive itself within her paws.
She suddenly felt a jolt, and found herself somewhere she didn’t recognize. Purplish haze and static blocked out a lot of her view of the area, but she saw enough to see some redwoods and grass. She started hearing roars and screeching, then she heard Rust yelling within the mix.
“Rust!!” She yelled as she started running. She didn’t know where to go and the noise seemed to come from everywhere.
“Stop, stop!!” Rust yelled from the distance.
“Rust!!” Crimson yelled out before she suddenly felt a jolt again. She was back on Methuselah’s back. Back i the desert, with the rune in her paws.
“No, no no. Take me back.” She said quietly staring at the rune. She started shaking it.
“Take me back!!” She said a little louder.
“Did you say something hun?” Methuselah said, Crimson went quiet for a moment. She quickly but softly put the rune back into the back and tossed the bag back over by Forest.
“Uh, no. I didn’t I was just heading to bed.” Crimson said. Methuselah grunted.
“Missing someone?” Methuselah asked,
“What?” Crimson responded.
“Your missing someone? Family, friends, significant other? Do you got any?” Methuselah said,
“Friends. Good friends…” Crimson said, Methuselah grunted again.
“No family?” He asked, she din’t answer.
“I see, sorry to mention it. Are they dead or just don’t talk to them?” He asked, she didn’t answer again.
“I had a family once, I don’t know where my parents are, and my family…they… died. Acros killed them three years ago, I was out hunting. I came back and found them. Had a daughter who would about your age now. Her name was Pyla. She was rambunctious for a Fasolasuchus. She was sweet, kind-hearted— I’m sorry. I don’t mean to tell you my story. I was just saying that, if your parents are alive. Make up with them, you won’t know how much you’ll miss them when they are gone. And if they are gone, embrace the good memories, remember the regret but don’t let make you who you are. Life’s hard if let grief control it.” Methuselah said, seeming to sound like he was choking up. Crimson seemed to ignore what he said.
“I am gonna go to sleep now.” She said, Methuselah nodded.
“Goodnight then, I’m sorry if I scared you there. I didn’t mean to.” He said,
She curled up in a ball and laid there, not making a sound. But tears coming down her snout as she tried to go to sleep. Hearing the words, but not knowing how to live them out.

“Are you out of your damn mind, Deputy? You can’t just storm into a bar and incapacitate everyone in there, regardless if there’s a fight going on or not!” a man with a thick mustache was scolding Warren from his desk. Warren crossed his arms as he rocked himself back and forth on the stiff wooden chair.
“And what did you want me to do boss? Officer Sam was in danger.”
“You could have very well just tased them all. You were reckless out there and you were not even assigned to stop that madness. That was Officer Sam’s task, not yours,” Warren’s boss sternly said with a pointed finger, “We’re suspending you until further notice. You’re lucky you aren’t outright taken off the force.”
“Gee thanks a lot,” Warren replied while rolling his eyes. The mustached man shot him a glance, and Warren got up from his seat.
“Get out of my office now before I add another offense to your record.”
“Okay okay! Mr. Justice is leaving,” Warren said, raising his hands in surrender and exiting the office.
As Warren walked past police officers and sheriffs alike, and out to the reception area of the station, he saw a woman with long black-blonde hair that fell to her chest standing there with her arms crossed. She was wearing a black tee-shirt and black jeans. It was Sam.
“What happened to your hair?” Warren asked with scrunched eyes.
“Dying my hair was becoming a bit of a hassle…” Sam admitted. She put her hands in her pockets shyly, “Detective Darren finally forwarded the video footage. Let’s view it.”
“I’d love to do that, but I’m kind of starving,” Warren told her, “Can we grab some grub?”
“You really think grub-” Sam paused, and scoffed, “Fine. We can get something to eat. But you’re paying.”
Warren and Sam made their way to a local burger joint called “Nunya Buns”. As the two entered a bell rang, and they were greeted with the waft of fresh fried potatoes and sizzling meat. Sam’s eyes lit up as they entered, and her stomach grumbled.
“Haven’t been to a place like this in a while,” Sam muttered, her eyes getting droopy. Warren walked up to the stand and ordered something, and the two made their way to a two-seater, where they took a seat.
“Alright. Let’s get to business,” Warren said. Sam pulled out her phone and played the video. She sped the video up, until eventually they reached the part where the graduates mysteriously disappeared.
“I managed to find a specific camera that had Samuel on it, and there was something… interesting,” Sam explained. She tapped her phone a few times, and the camera was pointed at a man with black graduation robes. He had sparkling eyes and a soft smile. Samuel.
“Look. You know how the others kind of scream, and then they disappear? Look at Samuel. He doesn’t.”
Sam played the video, and it went just how it did the last time they watched it back at Terran High. The scream of the principal rang out, and everyone else followed. A tanned woman near Samuel fell into his arms, but Samuel made no groan. The enveloping light poured into the camera again, and they were gone.
“But what could it mean?” Warren asked, “And so what? We still don’t know why they disappeared or who could have been responsible for this.”
Just then, a waiter with a paper sailor’s hat passed by and dropped off a tray stocked with two big juicy burgers and a large bucket filled with thin stringshoe fries. Sam eyed the burger warrily, before grabbing it and taking a large bite out of it.
“Maybe the principal was keeping his eye on him, and chose to exclude him?”
“I guess, but… why would he scream out in pain too? If he was responsible for the disappearances, why put that on himself?”
“I don’t know Warren, he was CRAZY!” Sam yelled, slamming her fist on the table. Warren slunk his head hopelessly on the table.
“We’re getting nowhere with this…”
“What are you talking about? We’ve gotten so much info!”
“We have practically no leads Samantha! Our kid could be out fighting for his life on whatever space island whichever sickos decided to abduct scholars for and we’re out here studying why he isn’t screaming!”
“Let’s not get hasty. We can still ask Calem for help, he might know something we don’t.”
“I guess you’re right…”
Warren reached into his phone to call him when the door to the restaurant opened and two men walked in. As Sam spotted them, her face dropped.
“Oh great, not this guy again.”
“Hey, I heard you two were on an investigation… Care if I join?”
Warren turned around, and standing there was Big Jack with a tanned, tall collected man by his side. Warren squinted his eyes at him.
“What are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be serving jail time for… you know, starting a massive bar fight?”
“They only slapped me with a fine. It was in… self defense after all, hee hee,” Big Jack giggled. His face suddenly transformed into that of seriousness, “Joking aside though, my little brother’s gone too. Lil Jack and I were supposed to rob a few chumps blind after he graduated, but now he’s gone and I don’t know where he went.”
The tanned man eyed him with concern, before turning to the two and introducing himself.
“I’m Son. My nephew was also involved in the Terran High Incident. I saw your message on the Dex, and I couldn’t help but feel obligated to find you. I went to the station, met Big Jack here on the way, and now here we are. We should work together if we want our loved ones back,” Son calmly said. He was very well-spoken and had a strange accent, as if he came from another region.
“We all have one thing in common, I suppose,” Warren replied, “So what, does that mean we’re all teaming up or…”
Big Jack pumped his fist in the air in excitement.
“Nyah hah hah! Yes! I get to work with the Judge…”
Son pointed his thumb at the door.
“I think we should go to the library, I discovered something that might really help us. You two can finish eating up. Me and Big Jack will be waiting outside.”
Son walked out the door, and before Big Jack left, he grabbed a handful of fries from the bucket. Warren let out a snort at the sight, and got up from his seat, cracking his neck and grabbing the food.
“Alright. Let’s go, I’ll call Calem on the way out and tell him we’ve got more help,” Warren told Sam. He reached into his pocket and pulled out two dozen bucks, putting it on the table for the waiters to collect.
“Okay… Warren,” Sam replied with a smug smile. The two stepped out of the restaurant, and as they did Warren brought out his phone to call Calem. But before he called him, he noticed a notification on his phone. It was from the Dex. He opened the app up, and there, he saw a message delivered to him on the forum.
“Deputy Warren. Pleasure to meet you. Tales of Evolution and Survival can be found in the Archives. Once you go there, go to the year 2015 and scroll all the way to the bottom. You’ll find his story there. I do warn you though not to dig any deeper. Your kid is doing just fine. This is for your own safety. - Moon.”
A smirk tugged at the corner of Warren’s lip.
“Perfect.”
-Grim Reapers- Chapter 6 Talon staggered after Spinenefrus until they came upon a pile of bodies, mostly made of fish and dodos. “What happened here?” Talon said. “ It is my catch that I caught today.” the warrior mumbled softly. The reaper glanced around and realized he heard water. Talon stumbled to the sound and saw a lake, not very deep, maybe only as tall as a rock drake, but it was water, and he needed it. He lowered his head and drank deeply. He could think, and his mind overflowed with questions for Spinenefrus, the most common, “How did you know my mom?” Talon didn’t ask this, for he feared that it would offend him. Instead he asked a different question. “How did you become an agent?” Spinenefrus chuckled and said, “O young one, you shall want to prepare thyself, for my tale is as bloody as a dragon’s den; I was hatched on darkest day, and my caretaker, Mia, which if you did not know is guardian of the east gate at Nameless’s lair, grabbed me and hauled me over in front the leader of the Mountian tribe. “THIS THING IS A DEMON!!” She shrieked, shaking me. “I TOLD YOU THAT ESENNI’S EGG WOULD HATCH TODAY, BUT NO, YOU DIDN’T LISTEN, BECAUSE YOU THINK YOU ARE SOOO POWERFUL!!” This whole time she was yelling I had slipped from her grasp and was crawling along the floor, back to my egg, where no one could harm me. “Mia, I understand you are angry, but please do not treat me this way.” The leader said. “I’m sure he will find his way out of here. And look, he’s trying to get away, the smart little thing.” At this, Mia lunged for me, claws outstretched. I hopped out of her reach and, a look of fear and alarm flashing through her face, she crashed into the wall. The leader came over and grabbed me, and whispered softly, “Thy shall be known as Spinenefrus, the Demon that hatched on darkest day.” I was overjoyed to have a name, but terrified for what would bring.” The warrior stood up, picked up the sleeping bundle of a little reaper, and stalked off to his den. 5 positive votes and another one is out on Yuty page. Fifth one is on Forest titan page, first on reaper page. Again, sorry, this is so long, and yes, I know this series is not as good as some others, but please don’t give negative votes.

The Riddles of The Phoenixes Series
The Lost world
Chapter six: Metamorphosis
Cedric sat in one of the classes with the other students. Mr. Steward, this classes teacher was droning on about the Arks. Rowan was sitting beside the window. Cedric saw a flash of strangely colored lightning flash outside but no rain came. He shook his head. Rowan and a Oliver were listening to the teacher intently. Elayne had a large book set up on her desk to block her from the teacher’s view and was applying makeup on in front of her tiny mirror. Kannon was staring blankly at the wall behind the teacher. “The Arks were very dangerous but the victims had one advantage, does anyone know what that was?” Mr Steward asked. Rowan raised her hand. Mr Steward tapped his chin with his pencil and then pointed it at her. “They had implants that had special powers. Later theses implants were transformed into medallions, to give to the royals,by fusing elements and shaping them into-”
Cedric stopped listening. She seemed to know a lot about the Arks but he didn’t care. This was boring. All the classes so far had been boring in his opinion. History of the phoenixes. Boring. How to control your medallion power, a special class for royals. Boring, he already knew how to do that. Mystical creatures and fungi. Boring. Math. Boring. English. Boring. The Arks. BORING!!! Cedric pressed his hand against his forehead.
Cedric’s eyes began to droop lower and lower and then suddenly his head hit the desk. Cedric sat up quickly. The rest of the teenagers and Mr Steward were staring at him. Rowan was glaring at him for interrupting her. “Do you have anything you want to say?” Mr Steward asked slowly. “No sir but the desk might. It’s the thing that made that noise.” Cedric replied. Mr Steward opened his mouth to say something but was interrupted. Cedric’s medallion suddenly began to glow a deep navy blue. Cedric gasped. His medallion only did that when he used his power. Which he wasn’t right now.
Elayne, who was sitting by Rowan, watched with wide eyes as her medallion lit up, a bright silver color. The three other royal Phoenix kids, medallions lit up as well. Cedric covered his eyes as a bright light filled the room. Rowan was shielding her eyes while yanking at her black cloth jacket for some reason. “What is going on?!?!” Mr Steward cried his grey whiskers trembling in panic. “Everyone calm down!!” And then everything went black.
And so it begins…
