Tips & Strategies

The Sabertooth can collect meat about as well as Carnos can, and are about as strong, but in addition, along with dire wolves, they collect hide, chitin, keratin, and other non-meat materials from creatures at a high rate. Leech blood, for example.
Powerful, decent stars all around, fast, and can leap forward, allowing you to cross rivers and gaps without even entering them.
Small attack range. Often times leeches will attach before your mounted saber's attack connects.

These guys should have a TLC. Like seriously, they have those giant theeth and only one attack? It would be good if they had like a "forward jump that pins you down while they shred you with their massive theeth" kind of thing, don't you think? Because I don't see any real use of them - caving? Bring a bary.
- All around mount? Thyla beats him.
- And the dire wolf is slightly
better in every aspect *plus* the
pack bonus and their sniffing
ability gives them quite the
advantage.
I'm probably missing something but I wouldn't recommend taming them if you don't live in the snow area because of the risk of going all the way to north for this not that usefull mount. I tamed one and i haven't found a use for him since then. Imprint a Raptor or tame a dire wolf instead. It's not worth your time.
This is basically an upgraded raptor. You can use them to collect meat, travel, and cave exploration. They're great for taming other dinos. Bring them along when you tame other dinosaurs so you can easily kill anything that tries to attack you or your taming dino.
So if you're taming one of these for chitin hear me out. Best farming spots are caves, if you're on a new server or single player, tame an argie first so getting these boys will be super easy, just make a 2x2 w/ window frames around it, grab a Saber w/ the argie and drop it in and there you have it. Once tamed, bring them back to base and once you have it's saddle, make it punch as many trees as you can so it quickly boosts to a high-decent level (try min. 70~80), grab as much food and arrows/bullets depending on what weapon you use (I recommend crossbows since the Saber will do the job), grab the Saber w/ the argie and head to a cave, from there set your argie to guard the entrance and go farm chitin like crazy inside the cave, since a level 70+ Saber shreds everything in pieces, one slap and it harvests loads of chitin from scorpions and spiders, once you have enough chitin, go back to the entrance, put the chitin on the argie, head back, rinse and repeat till how deep you can go in the cave (quick tip: if you're afraid for your argie, just leave it mid air) 100% approved by Joe Bidenπ
These guys are BEASTS! I live kinda near the red obelisk and use mine to go get pelt, hide, and meat from the redwoods. Despite the size, I have out run and killed several hundred dinos with this guy. 100% sure you should tame.
It is a very fast mount, especially when you sprint + jump. It is stronger than a raptor, weaker than a carno(in the wild). Tamed if you level it up enough it can even take on a rex. It harvests a lot of chitin and hide, even more than it harvests meat. Perfect creature to cave with.
Awesome for cave runs βcause they are small but robust, fast and can pack a punch. Would definitely recommend.
They're so OP, honestly
I killed countless thery', spinos and baryonixs...
I even killed once a bunch of terror birds and a paracetharium, whole in one time
I really don't know why so many people doesn't like them
I personally love mine
Amazing for caves. I have one with 500% melee that can get 20-30k chitin per cave run.
My man if you jump fast while running you literally bhop and get a ton of speed!
Simply amazing at collecting hide and chitin. You can easily get 50-60 chitin per scorpion kill. Hide numbers run up quick too. Within minutes you'll be sitting at around a 1000 hide. They're quicker than the raptor Imo and pack a much harder punch. They do lack higher defense like other big dinos, but don't be fooled by their size. These guys are nasty. I recommend getting health above 1800. Stamina around 800-100, movement speed 130+, and melee around 250-300%. If you can achieve this, you'll have an exceptional utility hunter.
