So here’s a trick I have learned so I am currently taking my second griffin but here’s some tricks and tips I learn

Tips:

Go run the south cave or any caves that give soothing balm

Use a trap with about 4-6 stone dinosaur gateways place one gate keep the other one

I also recommend bringing high damaging weapons to kill other animals for prime meat

You may also want an argy and upgrade speed and health

Steps:

1. Find a safe area to lure the griffin and build your trap

2. After getting the griffin the respects you lure it through the open side of your trap without the gate

3. When it gets in the trap and you close the gate put the argy in front of the gate so the griffin is agro to it and quickly place the gate behind

4. Put a sleeping bag by the trap and sleep it will starve out the griffin to 0

5. After starving your griffin quickly knock it out and put in the soothing balm

6. Quickly get prime meat and feed it

How to gain a griffins respect

Have the same surname as the griffin and when your lvl 40 it will respect you with your surname

Be lvl 85 and above for low lvl griffins or 95 and above for all griffins

Have primal pass and gold crown

Recommendations

Have around 60 tranq darts with you just in case you never know

Tame low lvls so it will be easier to tame

Save up 100 ancient amber and get a name change ticket and scout out the griffin you want then change your name to it’s surname

Well that’s all I can think of but I hope this can help some people with taking their griffins

Ok pple hate the low stam thing but I found a secret to help if u r flying a griffin by yourself just press the seat button and wait awhile then hop back on the griffin will literally recover stamina in midair like this —sly gold aka paperboy

To all who are wanting to tame one: (WARNING! WALL OF TEXT)

If you are level 40+, your surname needs to match that of one of these creatures. For example, if your name in the game is Sasha, but the one you want to tame has the name Morphi’i, you will need to change your name with a name change ticket (100 amber) to Sashai’i. If you are level 95+ or have the gold crown skin on your helmet, then you can disregard needing to change your name.

Next, a trap of a 4x4x4 cube with 4 wooden Dino gates is the best way to trap it. Griffins can damage wood, but I was able to trap & tame 2 with a single of the structure aforementioned. When taming, it is important to note that if you do not have a soothing balm, it is going to take literal hours to tame the griffin. A x10 taming balm is decent, and easily obtained from a dungeon (the southern one near the center is my favored one for gathering these), but a x15 is preferable. Keep in mind even with a x15 it will still probably take 20+ minutes to tame *at best.*

For food, it only accepts prime meat, prime fish meat, either raw or cooked (but raw is better, of course), or allosaurus kibble. To get a griffin to lay eggs, you must have the female mate with a male, and griffins only mate with another griffin of the same surname. Go for a low level, always, unless you are prepared with thousands of narcotics and armed with the patience of a saint.

Once tamed, lead your griffin back home and put it in a safe space to let it passively level up. Once it’s health is at least x3 that of a normal griffin and it’s stamina is at least x2 of its original value, you’re ready to take it out on flights.

Furthermore, breeding griffins will produce better offspring, just like with all other dinos, but again, be armed with the patience of a saint. It takes many real-life days, about 2 weeks is my guess, of nonstop gameplay, for the baby to mature completely. While it is in its baby phase, it must be near its mother to feel secure enough to eat. However, once it is juvenile, it can be moved away from its mother if necessary. Hatching the egg will take at least 5 air conditioners.

TL;DR: Royal griffins are mainly trophy tames, but once trained enough, they are a cross between argentavis for firepower, and tapejaras for flight mobility, with a large aoe attack.

You’re a low level looking for a Griffin that respects you? You’ve been like me and looked for them for days straight and killed many generations of Griffins without finding one? Here’s an easy way for you to encounter one with the same surname as you (for Mobile SP only)! WARNING: Not for the people who are easily bored and distracted.

If you’ve played Pokemon for a while you’ll know this term:

GUIDE TO SOFT RESET HUNT GRIFFINS!

What you need: 2 free save data slots, a bed/sleeping bag, a griffin trap (same as argy or rex trap), a decent flyer with decent health like an argy or a high level pte, soothing balms (optional if you want a high level tame) a lot of prime meat or allo kibbles (like a LOT a lot) and a loooot of narcotics or biotoxins, (a level 100 needs like 200-300 biotoxins even when you use a 10x soothing balm) and a bit of patience (you probably have this already if you’re hunting griffins anyways)

Step 1: Go to Far’s Peak where the griffins spawn, go up the mountain top and save. Leave to the menu, go to your save data and save to a free slot then return to your world

Step 2: Fly down the mountain slowly and find a griffin spawn point (you will know since mobile spawns literally drops them out of the sky and they kick up dust if they spawn on the ground), take note of this spot then leave the game, restore your last save data and return back in.

Step 3: Go down to NEAR the griffin spawn point, just out of render distance so they don’t spawn in just yet, save and leave, override your last data with this new one and return back in game

Step 4: Fly closer so the Griffin spawns in and you can check with spyglass to see if it respects you. If not then leave the game, restore the last save data, repeat until you see one with the same surname or just say “Respects you” when you check the info. Save the game and leave, save this to your remaining free save slots just in case.

Step 5: Lure the Griffin into the trap and leave it, don’t knock it out yet. Put a bed or sleeping bag near the trap and wait for night time. Sleep when it’s night, this will reduce the Griffin’s food to 0, making it easy for us to starve tame it. Also make sure no other dinos get near the trap and the area is safe because it can eat the smaller dinos and we can’t starve it.

Step 6: REMEMBER TO SAVE AND OVERRIDE YOUR LAST SAVE DATA FIRST! Knock it out, check if it’s food is at 0 or down near 0, if not then repeat Step 5 (optional but this will make sure you don’t have to wait a full 5 ingame days or so to tame it), put the soothing balm in and feed it then put in all the food you’ve prepared.

Step 7: Enjoy your new Griffin!… Now repeat all the steps above for another one in the opposite gender so you can breed it for Griffin eggs, making griffin kibbles so you can easily tame high leveled ones late game.

Before this I tried to kill griffins for 4-5 hours without one spawning, but doing all the steps above AND taming TWO griffins took less time than me hunting for one the normal way, Soft Resetting itself took less than an hour for me to find 2 with the same surname, I fed one with prime meat and one with kibble, prime meat absolutely decimated the taming effectiveness, putting it to nearly 0% but that one was a female for eggs so less important.

I have losed the grifins interest in me in seconds because a pteranodon is too fast to a griifin I have a pteranofon lvl 67 and it's movement speed is 167% it is too fast for a griifin and I got a griifin lvl 14 to South zone 1 and tamed it with allosaur kibble with soothing balm but it destroyed the trap and killed my baryonyx lvl 30 but however I managed to knock and tame 1 like= 1rip baryonyx

For taming a griff you need to be one of three things.

1 lvl 85 or above

2 have the crown skin equipped

3 have Sam last name (such as radtmir name yourself with mir at the end of it) and be at least lvl 40

How to tame griffen 101

1. Get about 100 toxicants arrows

2. KO the griffen

3. Go farm XP so you can be lvl 85

4. Put raw prime meat in griffen

5. Use soothing balm.

6. Starve tame this guy

7. Ride your friend

8. Can not rename this.

9. Kill everything that has killed you on the island. And then kill them again.

Has anyone seen that a lv.150 Royal Griffin has 3450 hp and a normal lv.150 Griffin 4370 hp?

(The rest of the stats are the same, 220 dm.)

Shouldn't the Royal Griffin have like 6000 hp?

They spawn in dirt clouds on the mountain right above the green obliesk.

No saddle needed.

Honestly a little too much for just this😐. One, you gotta be level 85 just for SOME to respect you, level 95 for them all to respect you. Should be brought down 10 levels for the respect. They really just speed, not much stamina tho and can’t carry that much either, also they can’t carry that many dinos. Basically a ripoff version of an argy,. They also take forever to tame. Honestly should just either make them worth the wait AND respect or change the requirements for taming.

They have low stamina so level up a lot of stamina

This creature cannot lay eggs passively, it must be bred to generate eggs.

DO NOT GO NEAR IT IF UR NOT GONNA TAME IT YET OR IT WILL FOLLOW YOU ALL THE WAY TO UR BASE like what happened to me and it broke my whole thatch base :( (my argentavis died bc of this mistake)

You are dead if it is high level (if you think a normal Griff is strong try to stay away)

When seeing these animals, make sure it respects you right before you knock it out and feed it food. if it doesn’t respect you, you can’t tame it. A tip to taming these things is to build 4-5 stone dino gates. Then, put it in a line formation with some space in between so that you can still shoot it, but it can’t escape. Then put two stone doors at the end so that there’s no way of escaping unless you open it. Once you have the trap, find a griff that you want, agro it with a mount, lead it into the trap, and close both doors. Once it’s trapped, you want to shoot darts until it knocks out. then just feed it kibble bc it takes a while to tame, and use x15 soothing balm. hope this helps!

Baby griffins grow up slow so make sure you keep them in a safe place until they can fly.
