Taming & KO Tips
How do I tame a rhyniognatha? Tips and strategies on taming and knocking out a rhyniognatha.
Server ping has to be below 100 to get pregnant on official. Anything above that you will just burn through pheromones without luck.
The spawn command is cheat summon rhynio_character_BP_C on console idk if it is the same on PC tho
The baby oneshots all things that it bursts from
Only 2 will spawn on map at a time. Spawns are along the swamp River just south of the redwoods. Kill the males and take the pheromone from inventory(shotguns work well on them). When you find a female, have a tame nearby preferably a paracetamol for your first time. Damage the bug and peck at it with a low damage weapon to get below 10%. Put your tame on passive and feed it the pheromone. The rhynio will beat on it for a little bit but don't stress, it will fly up and whip down and impregnate your tame. (If you build a trap you can impregnate multiple tames, I've done 35 dinos off of 1 bug)
Whoever is saying, you can’t use an elixir on them after they’re born is wrong. I’ve used them on several without any issue.
Tranq it and you can do damage to it and check with a magnifying glass to see if it’s below 10% then when it wakes up use the pheromones and watch the magic
It's has no bby stage unlike the breeding tab states. Pregnancy in your tame then pops out juvi.
ok, do you wonder how to get the perfect rhyino? well it takes stats from both the host and the wild female, to draw more stats give it cravings. it will eat all the island rockwell recipes, all kibbles, black pearls, anthica paste, element, quetz, carcar, giga, and golden eggs. and something else, and another is drag weight. the higher the better. what happens is it draws more stats from the host therefore it will be higher level brontos have one of the highest drag weight (1050), so mutated brontos are good. it only will take points so bronto or giga are no different on how strong the baby is, so lets say you have 50 health points. and you give all 5 cravings with bronto. the baby will probably have 50 health. other good drag weight creatures are gigas, carchas, and megachalons. (950)
Steps to Tame
1. Kill male to get pheromone.
2. Use a large Dino… Rex, Giga, Spino, etc.. base stats that I know of count for a better baby bug. Put this Dino on Passive.
3. Find a Female.
4. Set up a trap using about 6-7 stone Behemoth structure close together, put gates on the ends. I use Tek gate much easier. Leave small gaps to go in and out of.
5. Lure female into gate and shoot with net gun. .
6. Grab your Dino that is on passive and walk it in and close and lock the gates. Try to use a Dino that has decent health.
7. Use Magnifying glass and look at health. You need to get it down to 10% remaining. Use net gun to check health and take your time, have a sleeping bag near by in case you die.
8. Feed your Dino the pheromone, and watch the tail of the bug glow, after it should go to your Dino and impregnate it.
9. Thats it, for breeding it will need a lot of food and some way to heal your Dino like a snow owl, or just force feed it food. Your Dino will want a lot of different things, like kibble, soups, I heard gasoline too lol.
Cheers and Good Luck.
Yes this creature is only on the island and lost island
Theri CANNOT eat the pheromones just FYI
The pheromone can be placed in a fridge to extend it to 33 days.
They spawn in the swamp -Tested
In terms of baby stats:
This has to be looked at as a Mating of your Host creature and the wild female Rhyni you getting the baby from rather than regular taming. Which means like regular breeding the baby can inherit stats from either.
The requrements to inherit the max amount of stats from the host (apart of the usual breeding chance to inherit stats from either female or "male") seems to be at this point:
-fulfill all carvings
-use either a giga, caracho or bronto as host creature
failing to do so reduces the posiible stats by a fairly high %
Use a magnifying glass as quick as possible to take away the lowest number in its health that should be around 10%
On official I recommend taming while 3x boost. Took us 8hrs to tame on 1x.
Food drain was insane and had to have a tribe mate do berry runs for us. How people are taming these with carnivores is beyond me.
Prepare prepare prepare!
The breeding tab should inform us how long the Rhynio takes to mature to adulthood once it has been born from the host, depending on the server settings?
It will take traits from the host creature this includes stats, and colors. I'd advise using a high stat giga, or carch, with insane mutations, even a rex will do
Watch Syntac’s new video to see where to find them and how to tame them!
Now that they've come out I've tested them a few times to try and see how they're tamed.
You wanna grab a tame (I used gigas), preferably with good stats and/or one you don't mind losing - and bring it to wherever they spawn on the map you're using. You should go off and kill a Rhynio (any gender) on your own first, or with said tame so that you can harvest a pheromone from its corpse. Once you have that pheromone, feed it to the tame and then go and find another Rhynio (I believe only females can infest your tames, correct me if I'm wrong!) And aggro it to your tame while the pheromone is affecting it. Keep your tame on passive and let the Rhynio do it's thing! You'll have to shoot the Rhynio while it attacks your Dino, and get it below and certain threshold of health. It'll then perform an animation as if it is about to spit resin, but will do some sort of dive/corkscrew into the tame and voila! Your tame is now infested. Your tame will receive strange cravings while it incubates the baby Rhynio, and they're strange. It can be stuff like element it wants, ranging from consumables like battle tartare to even ammonite bile and achatina paste, all kinds strange things. Once the incubation timer goes down, your tame will die and out will hatch a juvy Rhynio! They won't aggro onto you when you hatch them (at least not in my experience) so super easy to just run up and claim them!
You also can't breed them, I don't think. Doesn't let me anyway, which isn't fun.
