I live in a swamp, and I'm new to the game. One day, I saw one of these creatures and thought, "I wonder what that is?" Curious, I foolishly ran up to it to get a closer look since I didn’t have a telescope yet. For some reason, the creature didn’t attack me right away; we just stared at each other for a minute, and I thought it was some kind of passive creature.

Then, one of my friends came along and said, “Yo! Bro, I finally found you! Hey, do you have wood and—Holy sh@t! What the f@ck, bro? Run!” He started screaming into his mic when he saw it. The bug then for some reason attacked him instead and only later did I realize what the hell that thing was when he explained to me what the big was.

I don't know if it was a bug or if it's part of the pregnancy, but my baby got VERY hungry and ate hundreds of berries.

Getting a high level one of these is probably the most grind intensive tame in the game. I spent a couple weeks at least getting things together to satisfy all the possible cravings and find a 150 female. I can personally say, after all that work, I'd do it again. THEY ARE WORTH IT! I can't stress enough how freaking awesome these things are. Go look at the wiki page, and your jaw will drop when you see the stuff it can do. Puts every tame I've ever had in this game to shame and its not even close.

This creature is so overpowered it shoots resin that make creatures slow down its fast it moves under water fast and it can carry lots of supplies.This creature can also stick on to trees when the cross hair turns green and you click space.This giant bug can also let you hold your weapons while on it meaning you can tranq things from above over all just a broken creature but brutal when encountering.

When "taming" the health of your dino will drop rapidly, it scared me ans my mates half to death, its meant to, when the health of the dino reaches 0 itll drop to the floor unconscious for a split second before dying and being consumed. No amount of healing will save the dino. The dino wont die before the timer finishes unless its being attacked by an outside source. Goodluck everyone

Today I learned that rhynios can harvest sap from Joshua trees. Useful if you want some on the fly! (Sorry..)

PAY ATTENTION PLEASE!!!

GET A DINO WITH ENOUGH HEALTH TO IMPREGNATE!!!

From all the info I got, this bug is real annoying to tame but I still believe I can do it

My Technique :

I got the Pheromone from the Male

I tranqed the female ( it sleeps a lot )

Tamed a bronto

Made sure it got food but it didn’t have enough health (2.5k)

Then Rhynio woke up, I fed the bronto the pheromone

The TRICK you don’t see is the Rhynio has to TAIL ATTACK 10-12 times before it impregnates, it doesn’t just hit once and leave and that drains your Dino’s health

So moral lesson, get a healthy host

CLARIFICATION: What tame you use as the host DOES matter significantly. It is just like any other parent when breeding. Rhynio and your host will roll the stat game for what you get. You want your weight high? Get a good bronto. Damage? Say goodbye to a good giga. And make sure you have an ungodly amount of food.Or pick a host that is capable of harvesting that ungodly amount of food close to home in between cravings

This thing has ruined the ark mobile for me. The swamps and redwoods impassable at the moment. These things infest the region between the swamp and redwood. As soon as it senses you anywhere near, this pest will just buzz toward you and spit a mouthful vomit that will just root you in place. Thats what it is just a pest, I really would like option to purge this thing from the map since it is really OP. I dont know why they would put this on any starter map or region. This thing belong in abyss in aberration or a top some volcano. I cant even tame a doed to build my fort because of this thing. Just have to run around with axe and pick like a fn savage now. They also fight very dirty, they swarm in packs and stay within range and just fire away acidic vomit at you. Very few starting dinos will be able to counter this fiend, usually only if it settles, then you can whack it a few times. Metal spear is practically useless and you die before you can pull out a bow. Seriously F this thing man.

Some tips for when using this hibrid between the average autralian bug and a apache helicopter:

-The melee attack is way faster on ground than doing it in the air

-It can in fact land on a large flat wall , not just redwood trees, something like valgueros clifs

-When carrying something like a wild spino or rex , you can go backwards to make it miss some attacks and go further before needing to heal

-To rapid fire the missile attack ,push the button really fast and it will attack without the "lock in"

-To save your mental health and time if you wanna get one , just get a bronto preferably higher level than the rhynio ,cryo it , find the bug , un cryo it ,get it to agro on the bronto and shoot it with a longneck or pump shotty, when it gets really bloody stop and use the feromone ,if its not impregnating the bronto carefully shoot again, DO NOT PUT BRONTO INTO CRYO POD , craving are sometimes literally imposible to fulfill in some stages , like element so dont smash your head into the wall ,it is till will come put a high enough level

-And lastly, is morally correct to spawn in a wild Rhynio by commands trust me ,this things sometimes just dont spawn and makes you feel sad

They dont wanna follow , other settings work just follow not

Can pick up rex, can go underwater, spawns in swamps in the island and lost island.

If you go to deep rivers or the ocean and fly just above the waters surface you can land on the water and glide just like a bloodstalker which causes you to sprint with extra drift and if you go to shallow water you will sink in the water and then start walking on land again.

Best confronted with Megatherium.

for some reason i can pickup my wooden tree platform and place it again on any red wood tree (on ark mobile)

Dont use a flyer to battle i prefer u use a big creature such as a rex or spino, Spino is the dinosaur i most reccomend since its big enough to not get stuck from saps and fast, if u however dont want to fight, Get a sarco and find the nearest water that is deep enough for your saddled sarco to swim away And make sure to go to the deepest part of that source so u dont get sapped more easily

The ULTIMATE transporter for taming:

1. It can carry dinos with up to 600 drag weight, which allows you to carry almost every land creature, except for gigas, carcharos, brontos, and titanos. To mitigate damage from aggressive dinos while you are carrying them with your rhynio, you can:

1a. You can use the resin armor ability to take 40% less damage

2a. You can use the screech ability to "scare" almost every land creature for 20 seconds, but it has a 30 second cooldown. You can use this by dropping the creature, going on land, using the ability, then picking up the dino again to not get attacked for 20 seconds.

3a. You can strafe by flying perpendicularly left or right. This confuses the creature's AI and convinces to move its head in the opposite direction you are strafing, which prevents it from attacking you.

2. You can equip weapons while riding it, this allows you to:

2a. Tranq dinos while in the sky so they can't attack you, you can also tranq certain dinos that are being carried by your rhynio at the same you are riding your rhynio, this includes dinos like rexes, yutys, and other medium size creatures.

2b. Tranq dinos on land, using your rhynio's large health pool to tank, you can also use the screech ability or sap ability to minimize damage.

3. You can use its resin projectiles abilities to immobilize dinos by doing a rocket attack, then quickly switch to needle attack and it will make the dino stuck in seconds. (this takes some skill to learn and master)

Just be wary of other rhynios, because they will literally attack any wild animal that's not a megatherium, rex, spino, giga, carcharo, yuty or titano (this includes megs too they can target megs outside of water but they cant go into water lol) plus literally like all tames
