Tips & Strategies

I just wrote a tip about this, but I’m literally mindblown by this as a tame, and I can’t stop thinking of nice things to say about it.
It only needs 1 resin in its inventory to carry stuff, so that should be useful for those who are like me and are still working on building a sap factory out of taps and archaeopteryx. I’ve been using my current Rhynio to catch and tame the highest level rexes I can find so that’s I can breed rexes not only for the Dinos, but so I can impregnate a very powerful bred Rex with a higher level female, since the baby rhynios get stats from its host as well.
This Dino is insane, and I can simply pick up a large predator that’s invading and drop it somewhere else, or simply kill it because this bug is so strong.
It also has the status of an apex predator, so everything will leave you alone except for other massive carnivores.
It has useful ranged attacks, can swim horizontally as fast as it flies… why is this thing so perfect?

Reasons why you should tame this:
1. It can gain food by eating berries and meat since it's an omnivore
2. Since it also eats meat that means you can heal it fast by spam feeding cooked meat on it for 10 hp per cooked meat
3. Its saddle has 2 seats so you can bring a buddy with you while riding it
4. You can equip weapons while riding it
5. It has the most weight of any flyer on the island with 1100
6. It has more hp than a rex with 1400 if you're on ase, 900 on asa
7. It is able to carry almost all land creatures except brontos, gigas, and carcharos
8. It is able to scare off almost al land creatures with its roar besides diplos, paracers, brontos, gigas, and carcharos
9. It can fly and walk in all directions including backwards
10. It can swim in water and has 800 oxygen, meaning that it has capabilities similar to a spino
11. It can land on top of water and glide on it like a bloodstalker
12. It can move its entire body to turn where your camera moves
13. It is the 2nd fastest island flyer in the game only bring 15% slower than a tamed pteranodon
14. It can attack on land and does so faster than in the air
15. When you dismount you will be standing on top of the rhynio instead of falling to the ground
16. It will automatically regenerate stamina passively even in air if you are off of it
17. It is an apex predator so if you are riding on it almost all aggressive land dinos will not attack you unless you attack them first except for allos, spinos, yutys, rexes, gigas, carcharos, megatheriums, and other rhynios.
18. You always have an opportunity to imprint it when you tame it
19. It has an ability which can make it take 40% less damage which is resin armor
20. It can shoot resin projectiles that can do 75 damage or more, and can immobilize even the biggest creatures.
These guys can stick on walls, and pick any size of structure, and it ignores the weight of the items inside of the structure, (e.g vaults, industrial forges,) you can even pick up tree platforms and the structures will stay on the platform, plus it has MASSIVE weight making it essential for carrying heavy items. It can skate and land on water allowing you to regen stam whilst on water, plus it can dive, you can shoot weapons from it, and if you dismount whilst flying, it will regenerate stamina, so ya don't even gotta land!
You might think that the rhynio is the fastest flyer on the island, which it is only 2nd fastest but might as well be THE fastest because it literally has the MOST weight of any flyer on the island with 1100.
Top 5 fastest flyer tames on the island:
#5. Quetzal - 12.96 m/s
#4. Tapejara - 15.28 m/s
#3. Pelagornis - 16.38 m/s
#2. Rhyniognatha ~ 22 m/s (tested by myself)
#1. Pteranodon - 25.61 m/s
Note that if you are using flyers to tame other flyers wild quetzals fly at 15.96 m/s and tapejaras fly at 24.64 m/s
It actually does not need to be low health. For me it was only 98% health (I did the maths) and it still impreg’d my bronto. You can also get them to do the Impreg by heightening their torpor (I’m pretty sure). Tips for the noobs, they do not spawn at the green obelisk swamp by the beach AND ONLY THE BEACH ONE. They are fairly easy (for me at least) to tame with a high level spino or rex. They can actually be knocked by tranqs or other methods. You can not lead your impreg’d animal to safety if inside the swamp (because of the groups of Rhyniogatha) but you can if outside. Just bring a Shi Taki mushroom amount of trophy’s and random things to make things like cravings easier. They crave things (for me a wooly rhino horn and exceptional kibble.) so be prepared. And last but not least they can swim, fly, run and attack at abysmal speeds so that is a benefit. I will also add that the stamina stat on these things is crazy and you can ride while wielding weapons!
