Tips & Strategies

What are tips for rex? Tips and strategies for rex in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
All you need is a decent crossbow and some high ground with a good amount of Tranqs
Once I spawned in and there was a black rex right in front of me. It just looked at me and then dicided to kill me. It could not have been more successful.
Two things:
First, if you want a good saddle for your Rex, run cave of the strong, which you can do with a cave tamed arthro, good fur and a few med brews and fria curry.
Second, since this is a popular page, I’ll give some free advice:
(For Mobile players only, playing on single player casual mode!!)
Run hunter cave and tame arthro.
Upgrade weight on arthro like a ton.
Run strong cave, and set a thatch foundation with a bed right by where the artifact spawns.
Leave cave.
Tribute strong artifact.
Put a bed and a couple large storage boxes on or near an obelisk. Put all of belongings in storage boxes and fast travel to the bed you put in the strong cave(make sure to save game and relog onto it before you do this) grab artifact and go find a creature to kill you quickly.
Spawn at bed near obelisk.
Tribute artifact of the strong, put loot in storage boxes and repeat until satisfied.
This technique will give you ramshackle to ascendant level giga and Rex saddles, and same level scuba gear, gas masks, and compound bows. Also, since all you need is the level to get an arthro saddle, you can do the strong cave early, and use this technique to get enough gas masks or scuba gear to do the swamp cave(also noted for its difficulty)!
Sorry that this was so long, and please forgive any mistakes in the message, I’m quite excited.
Me and my big brother tried to tome it with 50 tranq arrow and crossbow and it ran out and I don't know how we tame him after it with sling shot and patience
I was 7 and my brother was 10 so don't think we were idiot "we were idiot tbh"
To kill:
Step one: get a longneck/crossbow (crossbow takes longer)
Step two: get on a high cliff make sure nothing is around it
Step three: then just shoot it in the head for some reason in mobile it wont see you if youre high enough ive done it my self it works.
I built a base and went to go look for prime meat to tame this super cute compy (don’t blame me I know you all do too!) and then a Rex spawned near me, I ran as fast as I could but got eaten, and now I respawned in my base with the compy in it and I hear giant footsteps coming at me( the base is made of wood) pray for my compy and my base😔✊
I had to knock out a 135 rex out with a slingshot. On day three. I had used my crossbow, two other bows, and all of my tranq arrows. I had absolutely no choice, but to knock him out with a slingshot. It took many stones and tears. But somewhere around 150 stones wasted, I knocked him down fed him, and he was tamed.
This things are OP. In valguero, the only things that can kill it once it is tamed are gigas, rock golems and wyverns. But if you have a Rex and you don’t see any of these nearby, don’t worry at all. Pls up if you think this is true
Don't die...... but for real you can just go somewhere it can't get you and spam thank arrows til it gets knocked out.
Place 1 stone foundation near the rex you want to tame, (not too close) then 1 doorframe and door, both stone. Then place 3 stone walls around it. Add an extra layer on top of the base structure of stone doorframes then cap it of with a ceiling. Shoot the rex to get it’s attention, then run inside and the rex won’t be able to hit you, but you’ll be able to shoot it. This trap also works for Spinosaurus and dire bears.
If you are looking for a high lvl then I recommend u to go snow biome it has the highest spawning location of rex there will be chances of a high lvl rex to spawn if it didn't then kill the rexes u dont want to tame and go far from that place wait a few minutes and there will another rex repeat this process untill u got a rex of your desire
A tek rex snuck up on me while I was trying to find a safe way to tame a tek stego -- honestly, taming the rex instead was an excellent idea.
She was only a level two when I tamed her and gained no levels (I had no prime) but she was easily tearing apart trikes and other tough creatures on the way back to my base without facing hardly any damage. Keep in mind, she was only level two!
I had never tamed a rex before, but I don't at all regret it -- I can 100% see why they're so popular. They make excellent tanks for any kind of fight, and are fun if you (like me) just feel like running around and murdering everything that moves.
My only issue is the stamina consumption. I would suggest not running -- it drains stamina in mere seconds and isn't much faster than the walk, as far as I can tell. I'm upgrading her stamina but it'll take a lot to combat the stamina consumption.
I've only had her for a short period of time, but I already love her!
They can be found at forests redwoods and mountains
Get a friend with a flying mount and let him hold you as you shoot it in the face. Then build a wall around it.
If you're using a taming pen for rexes, build it at least three walls high. Sure you are able to keep it inside the two walls high pen, but an especially cheeky rex might climb out of it, which is definitely not going to end well for you.
If you want to find high level rexes ho to the snow biome, trust me.
No need for traps. Get a crossbow with tranq arrows (fifty if yiur by yourself and 30 each with multiple players) get high ground or tank hits like a beast, and fire away.
If you have something with good damage Rex’s do a little roar before fighting so you can get extra damage in before it actually starts fighting. Also they aren’t that scary depending on what level you are.
