I find that the best way to knock these out is to get a quetzal and stand on the platform while in the air. It has basically no sway so aiming will be easy plus you can bring along a ballista to keep it still with the chain bola. Be sure to bring some cooked prime meat :)

An easy way to knock one out with a friend.

Take your flyer and carry your friend, fly high enough so that the Rex can’t reach you or your friend, but also so that they can shoot at the Rex. Get your friend to shoot at them with whatever tranq, I did it with about 8 tranq arrows and a normal bow but you might need more.

If you’re playing solo though I suggest leading the Rex under a rock ledge, land on the ledge and shoot at it till it gets knocked. Or you could just run at it and try to knock it fast but I’d rather play it the safe way.

Find a cliff that it can’t climb, get the high ground and shoot it with tranqs.

Tutorial on how to tame a Rex without trap:

1.find it

2.make it follow you and jump to the high ground

3.make sure the Rex won't be able to walk up to that high ground

4.shoot it with a lot of tranq arrows (crossbow recommended)

5.it gets unconscious and you can buy a minor soothing balm in consumables of amber shop which costs 10 ambers

6.feed it raw or raw prime meat or raw meat (you don't need to use any narcotics if you used the minor soothing balm or feeding it raw prime meat without any soothing balm)

7.congrats,you tamed a Rex.

You can use metal billboards and a bear trap.

these guys are scary early game, but i can tell you right now these guys arent hard to tame.

i literally just tamed a level 14 by flying up to a big rock and shooting her with arrows, passed out in no time. i have to wait another like 13 levels until i can ride her though

They are so easy to tame because they are idiots so just stand on a cliff and knock ‘em out for they won’t move or try get to you

So uh, i attempted to tame one, it went down okay, it had 102hp left, i fed it some narcotics, as i was gathering narco berries when a random theri spawned on my boat right next to the downed Rex and chunky (my sarco) so of course it attacked my sarco and killing the Rex in crossfire, and yeah I killed that theri with my bare hands for it. So please when you go to tame one of these, stay close and watch out for theri’s.

Large and beefy, these lizards are known all around the community for one thing: BIG DAMAGE. Rexes will take out just about anything you want them to, only losing to the greatest creatures. Rexes aren’t rare either, if you know where to look. (Pro tip: the more north you go, the more rexes you might see!)

Uh I just discovered an extremely cruel way to gather large amounts of raw prime meat on mobile. I hatched a Rex egg and got twins, but after checking their stats I realised they were not the best (their dad tamed out at lvl 202 and their mom tamed out at lvl 209 but the babies were only lvl 201). I decided to kill them cuz I was running out of tame slots. Afterwards I ate their dead bodies with my wolf and found out that my wolf’s inventory is filled with raw prime meat. I immediately turned on my industrial grill and cooked all of it. The 2 baby Rex gave me a total of 128 raw prime meat... that’s like as much raw prime meat as an alpha raptor would drop from each one of the babies. So yeah if you really want easy raw prime meat and don’t care about being cruel you can try to get multiple breeding pairs of Rexes and kill their babies...

FIRST TIME BREEDIN I GOT A MUT!

You’ll be fine with taming this as long have you have high ground, their roars don’t have any effect on you or other animals, so don’t worry about that. Bring about 150 tranq arrows and get onto a high rock (I couldn’t find one so I just stood on top of some random server players tower and shot at it from there) and just continuously shoot at it, then once it starts running you might have to get onto the ground and chase after it, still shooting at it, until it’s finally knocked out.

If you just so happened to be taming this thing in the chalk cliffs on valguero like me, make sure there are no armadillos or ankylos around the Rex , because if the Rex gets knocked next to a herd of them, they will all start to attack the unconscious Rex and all of your hard work goes down the drain. Their torpor goes down pretty slowly and I didn’t need any narcos, but I reccomend bringing a few just in case.

These things are so easy to tame, i tamed about 5 of them

How to tame:

- Get a crossbow

- Get tranq arrows (40-100)

- Find a rex

- You don’t need a trap, a fast dino can outrun them (Dino’s like Iguanodons, Raptors etc.)

- Knock it out

- Tame it (Even Raw Meat will tame it, it takes longer. I recommend using prime meat)

- And boom you got a Rex

If you have a good speed stat it’s fairly easy to knock it out. Just run n gun and you can knock it out. No traps are needed as long as you can keep a distance while shooting.

My way of killing a Rex is to grapple to a high place and shoot it from up there

I’m not sure if the developers did anything about this already but if you go to lost island and go to the “Boskar Meadows” region, you can find level 400+ rexes there. However, you really need to search for them. Good luck trying to find one.
