You can use the Tapejara multi seat to go near it shoot it with the dodo arrow and then tranq darts and repeat

Man, never knew taming these guys were so easy! I had a griffin, so obviously it was easy. Just chased after it while shooting it with tranqs, it was only lvl 85. But, woah, that was my first quetzal.

If you are using tapjara(mobile)the easy way is to fly towards the qutzal and click the chair button to your right side of your attack button then use your tropor weapon to shoot then again change to rider seat and do this step this is the easy way to tame a qutzal in ark mobile

Use a Tapejara to tame them go to passenger seat and shoot them with Trank darts it’ll take like 30

ONLY WORKS WITH GOD CONSOLE

Get a high lvl and KO it. (Knock out) start spamming level up target on god console and it makes it go quicker. CAUTION be careful of the torpor drop. It goes from full to very empty very fast

The Tapejara trick works by siting on the back and attacking the quetzal. Also make sure your Tapejara doesn’t hit it to much so it doesn’t die like mine did

Just shoot with Chianti’s bola form pararacer platform saddle the knock it boom

For frist tame better find the lower lvl, after that u can put trap on it and trap higher lvl,

Use a few Rare Flower to get it mad at you and to make it follow you into a trap(make sure to build one preahead of time) close the trap and start hitting it with some sort of tranqs.

Formula for KO:

(Lvl. minus 1) x (torp. level up/level) + (torp. for lvl. 1) : (torp. for weapon) = (amount of tranqs needed for KO)

Example: Quetz lvl. 83 Weapon: Tranq dart

82 x 111 + 1850 : 221 = 50 tranq darts

Yes, I know it seem too difficult, but if you have a calculator, then you can also calculate

This works for pretty much every dino that is torpor tamed

A griffin’s the easiest way to tame it solo

Tamed one solo today by chasing it with a decent lvl griffin, i think thats the best way solo tbh

I'm sure this has already been said but griffin. Griffin all the way, you can shoot off its back other than landing next to some dumb diddly squat terror birds that screwed up my taming efficiency it's a 10/10 would recommend

Ive never tamed a Quetz and i'm going to do so on valguero and it would be nice for some instructions.

If you do not have a Longneck Rifle, then use the Ascendant Bow from the “Hunt: Dilophosaurus” quest and pair it with tranq arrows, provided you haven’t thrown it away or lost it. Lemme give you a rundown:

You see, tranq arrows work in a similar way to the bite of a Titanoboa’s bite; that is, in both examples, torpor is distributed based on the amount of damage that is dealt.

Using my own Quetzal as a test subject, due to a bug in which I can deal damage to him when unclaimed, I tested the precise torpor distribution between a regular bow and my Ascendant Bow. Testing the Ascendant for a general range of damage, in the inventory it claims to be capable of dealing 244 damage on a single hit.

Testing with a regular bow can yield slightly above this however. Sometimes even enough to one-hit a low-level Titanoboa, which has saved my life numerous times in the South Cave. I then test for torpor distribution on a regular bow, with a body shot. The torpor rounded off at about 92 before sinking back down.

Considering a Quetzals typical torpor tolerance supply, not to mention how quickly it drains torpor, your gonna need a ton of arrows and maybe a few spare bows to knock that one out, especially at high levels, and in general just won’t be a fun experience unless you have the patience of a saint and go undisturbed by some carnivore.

So, after the torpor returned to 0, testing the Ascendant bow with tranq arrows, (with a Headshot, just to be generous) yielded roughly 1448 torpor, and with a somewhat blunted amount of damage too, a round of headshots with an Ascendant Bow an easy way to knock out a Quetzal without running the risk of killing it due to the inherently high damage that Ascendant Bows are capable of outputting.

However, in all likelihood, the majority of the hits the Quetzal recieves are going to be bodyshots and wingshots. So, to get a sample of the amount of torpor a Quetzal will generally recieve from an Ascendant bow, we need to direct our hits at the body. This results in approximately 169 torpor.

However, this sample was taken from the side, and most bodyshots are generally going to hit the Quetzals back. So I climb onto my Quetzal to perform a test of the amount of torpor you can generally expect to see from a hit recieved by the Quetzals back, with a test on the center of the back distributing 191 torpor, while a shot to the neck-and-shoulder area interestingly resulted in a total of 456 torpor.

These samples, in general, prove one thing here; Ascendant Bows are usually pure rivals to the Longneck Rifle when it comes to torpor distribution, and with Quetzals you should generally direct your shots at the area where the neck and shoulders meet, and, as typical with most other creatures, the head.

Land a few lucky shots with an Ascendant bow thats been loaded with some Tranq arrows, and a Quetzal soon-to-be yours wont be flying for long!

Just make sure you do it on a Tapejara set to follow, so that you can make the “target” whistle to have your Tapejara follow the Quetzal, and then the “passive” whistle to tell it to stop when you get too close. (If the Quetzal is really far away or is scared and fleeing because you shot it, the Spyglass can really help with the “target” whistle here)

Hopefully this helps those of you who want to tame a Quetzal but have no access to a Longneck Rifle of any sort on your journeys.

There are three taming methods for early game and one for late game

1: (requires a flyer) get on any flyer(petra or argy) jump off and either grapple your flyer while it follows the quetz or use parachute with longneck on low lvls

2: (requires a tape) get on your tape and make it follow the quetz then switch to backseat and shoot it

3: (requires a tribe mate and a flyer) get your tribe mate to pick u up with the flyer and you shoot at the quetz

4: (requires a griff) get on griff and shoot the quetz (u can use weapons on the back of a griff) this is the best single player method

Just dismount your fly tame next to the Quztel then, you will be on it then chain bola it.

To tame one you need

A Griffin

6 dinosure gateway

Tranquzer dart-25

A shotgun

40 raw meat

Sooting bam

Find one shoot it down watch out for dinos collect it's cor and go to oblics and place the dinosure gateway abow the oblics so that after resurrection it will not escape shoot with Tranquzer dart give it sooting bam and raw meat that's all 😄

Use the net gun on one and then build a trap around it. Easy as that
