If you are gonna use commands that will stop the high level alpha rex that you dropped your quetzal onto killing it then make sure you aren’t aiming at your current dinos hitbox, I lost a lvl 180 tapejara that way. Also if no mutton or Rex kibble is available just use prime, raw meat takes way too long

Ride in the front seat of a tapjar, whistle attack on a wild quetz and nail it with tranq darts

If you have a fast enough flyer fly to a snowy mountain and wait for a bit when found get a tribe/alliance mate to fly and you grapple hook the. bird and shoot him with traunqs and use anything but cooked fish meat 😛

Have your friend pick you up with a argentavis when you are on a spider. Then proceed to web the quetzal and shoot at it with tranq darts or arrows

For solo taming these guys without a quetz cage a Griffin is a life saver!

solo tame with tapejara. sit on frontseat give your tape whistle commands. attack until hes close, then passive, shoot, repeat

My method is using a good tapejara and boarding the front seat, shoot it while whistling move here/attack this target. Just be cautious about predators nearby, I have my super trike set on neutral and follow so I don’t die to the odd red that comes by

Took out a 145 quetz down yesterday and it took 7 sheep to tame, 7 sheep to tame, I nearly lost my house in the process as I told my girlfriend it would take 3 hours and nearly took 5 !!! With 7 sheep :( 7 sheep !!!

My bests strategy is to go to the red obelisk and wait a bit but I recommend to get a chain bowler and then fly on a argy set it to passive then wisile attack target and then get out your long neck and shoot tranqs into its face

Really easy to tame solo if you use a Griffin (Extra words)

Used my wyvern to get on top of when it was low to the ground. The wyvern kind of choked it out and holds it stuck in place while you unload tranq darts into it. Good luck xD

If you have a tapajera with a three person saddle you can hop on the tapa fly it around until you find a quetzal and shift to the front seat tell your tapajera to "move to" the quetzal and when it gets close enough shoot the quetzal with a tranquilizer dart and repeat until it crashes. Works better with two or three people so you can line up shots for the passengers.

If first time quetz taming use friend with a high stamina army and get your friend to pick you up and knock out the quetz however if it gets knocked out over the side of volcano or mountain it is 95% properly gonna die. Your best bet is to try and stay away from mountains and hostile areas eg. Ten base or giga den, and prepare for the slowest tame of your life if you don't have Rex kibble or prime meat.

Eat a rare flower near him then land and shoot him, be careful though.

Use a Tapejara, land near the Quetzal and get on the front seat. Use LB + down arrow and make the Tapejara fly to your command. You'll fly faster on attack target just make sure to click another area before it bites the Quetzal. This method does not use any of the Tapejara's stamina so you only need to worry about weight.

Unless you're using a Quetzal trap, assume only body shots will register.

TAKES FOREVER TO KNOCK OUT I had a mastercraft crossbow and it still took around a 100 arrows and it still didint get knocked out it was a lvl 20 I lost it it's bs

Tame a griffin first, make sure it has good stamina, then you can fly and shoot tranq arrows into quetz and tame solo. Easy peasy.

Its easy. Type in (admincheat enemyinvisible true) and u can tranq it and it wont even flinch

Solo tame since July 2017 patch: build a large taming pen, get close to a quetz with any flyer, eat a rare flower to get it aggro and bite it to your pen. Then just knock it out.
