I used a tapejara and sat myself in the back seat so i wasn't technically riding it. I then whistled attack target to a quetz and tranqed it. Not easy to do solo but it is possible

I tamed my quetzal by flying above it de mounting my pteranodon quickly parchued then grappling the quetz

Finally I tranqed it then I tamed it

If taming using a quetz trap, the tame will glitch through the walls if you’re still driving. In order to trap it, jump out of the driver’s seat as soon as the quetz enters the trap and the walls will behave as a solid.

You can use a monkey to slow the quetzal down and all you have to do is just wisle attack target and the monkey will strow it’s poop at it.

You can use a tapajarra to tame the great quetzal so aim the front of the bird in the direction its flying in then board the front seat (dont board the back or it makes it near impossible) and whistle attack target wait until the tapajarra is about to attack the whistle passive and fire with your tranqs darts whatever good luck :)

An easy way to tame one of these solo is to use a Griffin with good stamina and if possible, high movement speed. Since you can shoot guns on a Griffin, just follow the bird around and tranq it out. Just be careful where it falls when unconcious.

Always remember than “Wild” Quetzal’s never labd unless you kill them and take their transplant and revive them.

Here's what I did and tools used. Narc, darts, tranq arrows, crossbow, dartlong neck, wyven and dino gates. Use wyven to steer it somewhere safe and secure. Preferably heading towards a mountain or somewhere low. Standing in front stops it and above lowers it. Once its on the ground stopped, don't get off. Might move. Place dino gates while on your wyven all around it. Once you placed front and back or as much until you must unmount. Get off and continue to place. Adter that use wyven as the ceiling. It won't get out, happy hunting.

Have a scorp and lift it up with an argy, put it on agressive and chase the quetz and let the scorp tranq it

You know you’re lucky when a lvl 150 female quetzal on official 2x weekend gets stuck in a cave with no dangers. That’s what happened to me atleast.

Quetz in the south may move low enough to Chain Bola. Apart from that, I’d suggest to use a dart or shocking Dart rather than arrows. Also, dododex now allows you to more accurately tell how many darts it would take by allowing you to input your melee damage as well as weapon damage. People keep saying dododex is off, but they’re not giving the app the correct data to base the calculations off of. Get a new ascendant rifle? Plug that in immediately so you’ll get accurate data!

If you have already downed a griffin super easy to follow behind it and tranq it that way since you can shoot off the back of it. Just dont forget spike walls

If you want to solo tame a quetz use a Griffin

Get a buddy with a tapejara and chase the thing down

When u encounter this creature use the Quetzal trap, this is on YouTube if ur not sure but it is a garantee tame it works for every quetzal..

Since the flyer nerf, here's what you do to tame them: A Q trap and your Q's STAM near 2500 will give you about two hours of hover time, but you'll have to fast fly to cash the wild Q's to trap. Load your Q up with ~150 raw meat and 400 stimberries. Trap your intended tame, KO, hover, monitor your Q's STAM and force-feed stimberries when STAM starts getting low. It'll kill your birds food hence the extra raw meat. Badabing. Effect does NOT WORK with stimulant, only stimberries!

Quetzal's Are Difficult When First Taming, I Would Recommend Using Kibble, Narcotic And Taking It Down With Two People On A Argie (One Using A Crossbow)

If your friend is carrying you be careful not to shoot the Argy me and my friend lost full MC flak

Pick up your friend and have him/her shoot the quetz with tranqs. Be careful though, if you knock it out above water, it will drown
