Shoot it with a net gun. Pin it in place with stone dino gates. Tranq it!

If you already have a quetzal build a trap on it with a trapdoor on the top. Fly infront of the wild quetzal and make it fly inside. Unmount at a slight angle and the wild quetzal will get stuck. Now you can stand there mid flight and tame it.

Notice:

1 dont move your quetzal or the wild one could slip out, even when asleep.

2 add gates and a ramp to lure in ground animals.

3 gate to the front to trap smaller birds (just fly faster than them and "net" them like a jellyfish.

4 add ceilings around the trap as a platform to move on.

5 build the trapdoor and front gate in a way so they are open while you are flying (auto open and close).

6 add a ramp or path so you can get to your quetzal and mount it while flying.

Personally i added a fridge and bed to store kibble and let me spawn there.

If you knockout Quetzal and it drops into water, know two things: 1 it’s gonna drown if u don’t get it out, and 2 if it does drown take implant and resurrect it try again..

Use a tapejara if your trying to tmae a quetz omg it's saved me a lot of tranq ammo

Three stepped method of how to tame a high level quetzal on mobile solo:

1. Tame a tapejara and pump its speed

2. Fly up to a quetzal (preferably low level female) on your tapejara, get on the passenger seat, whistle your tapejara to attack the quetzal and start tranqing. Whistle passive if your tapejara gets too close. When the quetzal goes down, quickly secure the area. You can use spiked walls. Once you get your first quetzal, pump speed, stamina, and maybe weight.

3. Kill every quetzal you see until a high level one spawns. Put a platform saddle on your low lvl quetzal, build a 3x3x3 box on its back with one side opened. Fly ahead of the high lvl quetzal and wait for it to enter the box. Then build walls/doorframe to complete the box and now you have a trapped high lvl quetzal and you can tranq it. However, once knocked out, the quetzal will most likely glitch through and fall to the ground, so make sure you avoid trapping quetzals over dangerous areas or water.

If you’re on mobile and don’t mind spending a little bit of amber, kill one with a pteranodon or something [DON’T HARVEST THE BODY], grab its implant, create a trap around an obelisk or one of your revival platforms then revive it inside the trap and you can easily knock it out without using grappling hooks or making a flyer aggro it, risking your flyer being faster and killing it. A level 15 one would cost around 35 amber to revive though you can easily get amber by opening supply drops. This isn’t the best way as amber is hard to get but out of all the techniques I’ve seen it’s the easiest

The Quetzal is a behemoth of a creature with base stats that top the charts (health, stamina, weight, and torpor). Net it, trap it with gates around it, Trang it

Hit em with that net gun. Then shoot them in the head with shocking tranq darts or reg tranq darts and baboom you have a quetzal.

This tip is good for mobile find the big bird then kill take its implant revive in box tame it done

Use 1 shocking tranq darts and then shoot it a few times with a tranq arrows for your first low lvl quetz it's easier and faster and it lower the risks of get downed and then dropping in water

Was able to tame one on a mountainside without using any crazy tricks.

If the one u are taming is 30 or below(level) use one Kibble and one Balm, insta taming, Works for all Difficulties, but better at EASY

The best KO method is to just chase it down riding a griffin, which is the only vanilla flyer that you can use weapons while riding. Alternatively you can "ride" a wyvern by standing on its back without actually mounting it and using whistle commands, you can also mount a tapejara's passenger seat and do that without the slight risk of falling like with a wyvern. Another alternative is to have a friend carrying you with a stamina leveled pteranodon (argentavis might work but it's a bit slow), but be careful not to accidentally shoot your pteranodon!

I swear when ever I would knock one of these guys out if would always find a way to commit suicide from getting knocked out in the middle of the swamp to drowning in the most tiny puddle I ever seen. I cried because this game just does not want me to have a quetzal

Followed it on my pt and when it flew down to the ground and got stuck in a wall I placed multiple stone Dino gates on him and ko’ed him.

The best place to find them are around the red obalisk

To tame them you need a strong flyer kill them make a revival platform and then make a trap of pillars you can also use obelisk do not harvest them first

If you finding a Quetzal just go to South Isle it is easy to find just find in the sky they are always in the sky and make sure you have a tapejara or a griffin to tame it easy.....
