If you see one you want to tame, kill it then take the implant and revive it inside a trap.

First Quetz we tamed we took down with a high stamina Ptera and a tribemate in the claws.

Put a Quetzal trap on that one.

30+ tames later life is easy on the ARK.

If you have access to a griffin just follow the quetzal and keep shooting it with tranqs until it knocks out. Alternatively you could use harpoon and nets to knock it out of the sky and tranq it that way.

A quetzal had a wingspan of 48 ft. The last one seen was in 1858 shot down by cowboys.

Sadly most of these tips are for multiplayer servers so, I’ve decided to make a single player tips for taking down to tame quetzals. No.1 always use a Griffin if you don’t have god panel No.2 wait 5 minutes at red on if it doesn’t spawn go to red woods and wait five minutes go back and repeat until you find one No.3 I know knocking em down is quite the pain so use a crossbow and toxant arrows to knock it down No.4 if you have god panel use it to slow down the quetzal by putting speed at 25%

These really aren't as slow as people are saying they're actually nearly as fast as a ptera

Wouldn't recommend bc the speed is very slow and my quests died as soon as I tamed it (got killed by giga) it happened bc I wasn't able to run away

You may want a Griffin a compound bow and toxic ant arrows to knock it out

I have to buy soothing balm 3 x to feed him a raw meat

Don't kill low levels because low level quetzals you should make a taming box for high levels so you can eliminate the risk of it dying

Build a quetz trap with a single foundation in the center of platforms saddle. Then put 3 ceilings on the sides then a hatch frame on front of platform saslddle to be able to mount and dismount easier when in air. Then 3 door frames up on the ceiling tiles leaving the front open. Place four ceiling tiles at top to close top off. Find a quetz fly head on at it and once it's in hop off quetz and place 3 door frames at front side to trap it. Now tranq away. Easy air tame. No threats

Great for robbing entire houses because of their ability to fly and their amazing carry weight

They recently patched the unlimited weight glitch, however it is still 1/2 ish

Gonna set up a ballista on mine, to chain bola larger animals and put giant arrows in the ones I don't wanna tame

When knocking out your first Quetzal it is best that you have a army with good stamina and good movement speed to keep up with the Quetzal. Always remember that the redwood is the worst place to let it fly into because it could get lost or despawn.

You'll find one at the Gulch at lamentation or on the Arctic biomes
