Beware if you lead one far from its spawn point and knock it out, don’t fly too far away. I knocked out a level 140 on one of the glaciers after luring it down from the snow mountain with honey. After trapping, knocking it out, and taming it to 75%, I decided to make a quick run back to base. It was safe way out on the floating ice as nothing spawns out there but as soon as it left render, it despawned. I am sad, have been waiting forever to find a high level one. Now back to waiting because of my mistake.

I think massive metal farming on the island is way more efficient with a quetz rather than an argie. THIS IS ONLY FOR HIGH LEVELS. You can get a platform saddle for your quetz and load up a gang of ankys, fly over to a mountain, go through the ankys one by one, and when your done you can load the ankys up again and fly back to base.

Why do these guys always knock out and fall near carnos, raptors and sabers

Best way to get metal is have 3 people with to the metal run have a chair on the foundation for the quetz when u got like 6k raw metal knock out the player give it the metal u got drag him to the chair and make him sit it doesnt effect the quetz weight

I used the attach yourself to the argue method. It was my first time trying and wasn't hard at all. I like this method it's fun as heck to. But my quartz got eaten as soon as it landed 😆 ark............

I think an easy way of knocking these out is to ride a griffin because u can use weapons on the back of it also be careful before u knock it out and be aware of the surroundings

I would love to know how you guys find all of these quetzals, I live right next to the red obelisk and havent found one near yet .-.

Be careful taming a quetz in a catcher while still in the air. The tame moves a little bit and can push you out.

I have found quetzals all over the map besides red obilisk.

The devs need to fix the glitch of it going towards the redwood for those who don’t know there is this glitch were normally if you try and tame or kill the quetzal it will obviously fly away as they are more flight than fight and they would just fly in any direction right? Well no with this glitch they go towards the redwoods and STAY in the redwoods plus by the time you reach the redwoods it would go unconscious which is obviously very bad because I had tried to tame 2 but they both kept go towards the redwoods one fell in water but got killed before I had even registered and the other on went on land but also got killed and now I’m trying to find another one wish me luck!

They do spawn at red obelisk but takes a lot of time and you need to be flying to see them at all

I think I found the way to actually get them to spawn so people are saying they spawn near the red obb almost every time I have tried to kill multiple creatures there a bunch of times and still no quetzel but I think I found the solution because I heard somebody say that there is a bug where they will only fly towards the redwoods so I think that they fly to the redwoods and I remember seeing one in the redwoods and disappearing never seeing it again but it's probably somewhere in the dense part of the redwoods so you need to do a Dino wipe if you cannot find one And then check the red obelisk (btw I have not tried this yet But it might be the solution) (oh and note I think 1-2 can exist on the map at a time and that's why you see another one here and there) (Another note I play on ark survival evolved for the Nintendo switch And I am playing on The Island) good luck:)

Griffin. That's all I have to say, USE A GRIFFIN FOOLS, GRIFFINS ARE AVAILABLE AT LEVEL 40+ YOU JUST NEED A GRIFFIN TO TRANQ IT

If your on crystal isle and your soloing it here's a good trick I used, first tame yourself a moth get a couple of parachutes and grappling hooks and your preferred amo with weapon, once you found one you like fly next to the quetzel and hop off the moth and grabbling hook it (dont forget parachute incase) and whistle it to attack quetzel the moth doesnt do damage but instead will slow it down for it bit while you shoot at it from below. This helped me tame it without having to whistle passive, attack target repeatedly.

If you knock out in water use a horse and a lasso and lasso the quetz and if this helps like so more people can see it

When going far, pretty sure they move faster when you just stand on them and whistle them in a direction, they also don’t lose stamina this way.

Heres how to get one to spawn.

1. Go to red obelisk.

2. Fly high on Tape.

3. Press Tidy Save, (Do not worry, your mounts are okay)

4.Wait for a few seconds, then go down and search the air high.

5. Next, you have a chance to see a Quetzal, randomly.

6. You might have to do this a few times.

7. Enjoy your Quetzal Experience.

Be careful taming these, they have a glitch that makes them go to coordinates 50 50 when high torpor,

50 50 on the island is the redwoods,

50 50 on Ragnarok is murdersnow,

50 50 on the center I'm not totally sure,

50 50 on velguero is in the lake I think,

And 50 50 on extinction is the safest, in sanctuary city.

Quetzals spawn at red obelisk but you have to go about the same hight as the bottom of the obelisk
