To get a starter Quetzal, set up three behemoth gates front to back with a bit of space between them. Give the one in the front and the one in the back doors and keep on of them closed. Find a Quetzal and eat a rare flower to get it to aggro on you and run into the gates. It should fly in and get stuck. Then close the open gate and knock it out.

If the quetzal flies into the redwoods, don’t give up on it. Fly above the trees and shoot the quetzal, try to scare it out if you can.

Can easily solo tame on a griffin if your good at first person flying ;)

I tame them solo all the time. On ragnorok get a griffen and pump stam. On the griffen you are able to use a crossbow while flying. It will take practice but can be mastered. Bring fur armor in case it goes in murder snow area along with camp fires or build them there. And hide to build spikes around it. Watch out for the wolves too. Good luck.

Just grappling hook onto an argentavis or other bird if you choose, use whistle commands to attack to get close, and passive before your bird attacks it. Shoot some tranqs, repeat. Be patient. Solo tamed several now.

If you want to tame the beast I recommend you having a argy with high stamina get a buddy pick him up and there's your quetzal

Bring some crossbows, tranq arrows, 2 argees, a second survivor, and some narcotics for an emergency. Have you or the second player ride the argee and pick up the other, once out of stamina hop on the other argee and tranq the quetz, if out of stamina again then get on the other argee, once tamed build a quetzal taming cage on a platform saddle for it, and taming other quetzals will be much easier. Please up vote so more can see and hopefully be less clueless.

For solo, you just need tapejara and bind whistle commands to easily accessible keys ( attack my target and passive) sit on the passenger seat and board front seat it is much easier then people think just only problem is desync prepare for a lot of missed shots that should be registered

If you don't have one already use an ag to tame it

I solo tame them using my griffen and shock darts.

Just got my second one, definitely a must for beginners, one of my perfered mounts for taming

This is an absolutely amazing bird.What i use this Quetzal for is metal runs.My tribe in pvp servers will always want to get one of these guys early on.If u have an ankylosaurs,you pick it up and have one person get on the anky.Then you get the anky to hit metal nodes.

If using the taming trap method, be VERY CAREFUL if you try to land it. I went very slightly too fast and my quetzal fell out of the trap and it lost over 70% effectiveness while my quetzal and I tried to fend off a bunch of daedons. I left it for dead when the direwolves came.

Go to the mountains near the green obslik that's were I found one PS put a million meat in one there hunger gos down fast

Can solo tame with Griffin, make sure u have journeyman or higher long neck with tranq darts as it's way easier than bows. Pre fab spike walls to keep safe and mini structure with bed and storage narcs so u can fast travel between torpor times.Also make sure u herd him in a I safe place. Honestly this is the most efective way.

Another way to knock out the quetzal is to grapple on to it and shoot it with tranq arrows or tranq darts.

Do not try the Grapple an Argy strategy on console. Just don’t.

The quetz does not get affected by rare flowers so it makes them hard to take

On Ragnarok, quetzals are easily solo tamed with a griffin. Just pump stamina and unload your darts.

Griffin = quetz ez way to tame.
