Tips & Strategies

What are tips for quetzal? Tips and strategies for quetzal in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
I don’t know if this is just me, but I always find at least two of these guys lurking around the beaches near the red ob, hope this helps :)
Probable the best way to tame this dino alone an with low lvl (on ark mobile)
1 Tame a flyer(al flyers can be usted)
2 Get a saddlw forma tour flyer
3 Tame a pulmonoscorpius
4 Ride tour flyer tame your pulmonoscorpius and go to find a qezal
put your pulmonoscorpius un agresive and go near the qzal justo follow it until ir gets K.O. than feed it and tame it
Pls let's try to make this famous so a lot of people can see this :D
On crystal isles (43.7/76.7) the floating islands biome you can find them flying straight into a cliff. Build a thatch house around it and go to town
Kind of a long process but worth it.
Tame a griffin, shoot tranqs from griffin, knock Quetzal.
Tame Quetz and put all points into Stamina. Make trap on platform made of thatch. Lead the wild Quetz on the trap you made and just chill mid air as you knock and starve the wild Quetz. EZ PZ cause that’s what I’m doing as I type this.
Usually one by red ob. If it's a low lvl, kill it, come back in a few minutes and another should have spawned
I tamed one by using toxic arrows, dodo arrow, and a wall.
I tamed this one level 100 quartz and named it Carter, I built a house on it's back and that's where I live.
Best way to tame one of them as solo its on a griffin (You can shoot while ur mounting one)
On mobile you can find them pretty easily at the Red obelisk just fly really low not to high or they won't spawn kill low level ones and fly out of the render distance and they should spawn again get a Female one for the eggs in order to make Kibble for the Giga
Have a nice day :)
I just used a Griffin as you can shoot while riding. Fairly easy just takes an age to tame it. And be careful where it looks likely to drop.
Way to burn time: SACRIFICE
>I’ve been going to the very bottom grabbing random Dinos and chucking them off the very top of the sky it’s beautiful<
Sadly still no quetzals..
If playing in Valguero, be sure to knock it out over land or it will drown. They spawn all over the rivers in Val, so be very carful.
These are basically areal Heavy’s; they’re slow but are quite strong with supply transport.
The way my boyfriend and I tamed a quetzel was. He flew an Argentavis while holding on to me with its claws and I shot shocking tranq. Arrows at it. It took me only a few shots but we got it. Once knocked out I killed near by dinos and fed the little prime meat and raw meat. While he put marco berries to have him unconscious and biotoxin.
Use a snow owl and freeze it and while its frozen build dino gates on it.
I have a ramshackle quetz saddle and I can’t find a freaking one
If you have a rhygnio you can just shoot it from the back, otherwise just fly high jump off something and parachute (make sure ur bird is on follow that's how I lost a snow owl)
I didn’t have a Tapejara so this method isn’t ideal unless you just can’t find one on the map:
I put a few grappling hooks, parachutes, and tranq arrows in my Argie until I found a Quetzal. At first I tried to grapple the Quetzal (which succeeded AT FIRST) but the moment it began to flee the hook was consumed and I almost died. Instead I grappled my Argie, shot a tranq, and whistled it to attack the Quetzal; as soon as it fled the Argie zoomed after it and the chase was on! Because I was grappled onto my bird close to the feet I had to time the shots just right so that the Argie’s wings didn’t take the arrow during the flying animation. The only downside to this is that there is a chance of the hook breaking if the Quetzal flies into a cliffside and/or corner (parachutes solved this).
Tapejara is the smarter option, but if you want to get nyoomed through the sky while your Argie is in hot pursuit then this method is for you. It can take a few tries but as long as you have more than one parachute to open/close at the right time so you can secure the potential tame from being eaten by carnivores. Shocking darts are the way to go but for those not that far into the engrams, a few dozen tranq darts will suffice provided you make accurate shots. (Also don’t cryo your platform saddled Quetz like I did and be forced to rebuild :/)
Happy Hunting!!!
If you don’t have a tapis Jara or you can’t team won because they are too speedy use a griffin
