How I tamed a quetzal is by riding a tapajrea sitting in the fount then ordering it to follow a quetzal while constantly shooting it with a long neck rifle with some tranq darts

If u use a Farming construction and a anky, Put everything inside the anky in your flight Back to Base because the quetzal Platform saddle hast weight bonus

My base is literally built on red obelisik but I haven't even encountered one :(

With two people and a tapejara, this is literally a cakewalk, so long as it lands in a safe spot.

Just tame a Desmodus in fjordur and you can shot to the quetzal in the air. Be aware when It falls sleep, every dino likes to attack him.

If you already have a quetzal build a trap on it with a trapdoor on the top. Fly infront of the wild quetzal and make it fly inside. Unmount at a slight angle and the wild quetzal will get stuck. Now you can stand there mid flight and tame it.

Notice:

1 dont move your quetzal or the wild one could slip out, even when asleep.

2 add gates and a ramp to lure in ground animals.

3 gate to the front to trap smaller birds (just fly faster than them and "net" them like a jellyfish.

4 add ceilings around the trap as a platform to move on.

5 build the trapdoor and front gate in a way so they are open while you are flying (auto open and close).

6 add a ramp or path so you can get to your quetzal and mount it while flying.

Personally i added a fridge and bed to store kibble and let me spawn there.

Using this with doed/ank is a really good way of collecting resources, pump stam/weight

If you knockout Quetzal and it drops into water, know two things: 1 it’s gonna drown if u don’t get it out, and 2 if it does drown take implant and resurrect it try again..

The Quetzal is a behemoth of a creature with base stats that top the charts (health, stamina, weight, and torpor). The Quetzal's platform saddle make it an excellent choice for a mobile air base or even a caravan for transporting and gathering metal and other supplies on harder to reach areas. While its melee strength isn't as high as some might expect, its health and ability to carry weapons make it suitable to use as a war bird. The Quetzal can be good for carrying goods a long distance, what I do on my single player game is make a platform and bring doedicurus(reduce weight by 1/4) stone mining dinos and a few ankies(metal weight by 1/4)to store my metal ores onto and travel back to base with a large amount of resources, i bring a argy to carry my ankie but make trips to unload at my quetzal till he is full, I can pull x5 more resources this way than carrying an akie and flying with just my argy.

If you have a dodo arrow(only on mobile) the quetzal will agro on you and as long as you can out run it you can pelt it with tranq

If you’re on mobile and don’t mind spending a little bit of amber, kill one with a pteranodon or something [DON’T HARVEST THE BODY], grab its implant, create a trap around an obelisk or one of your revival platforms then revive it inside the trap and you can easily knock it out without using grappling hooks or making a flyer aggro it, risking your flyer being faster and killing it. A level 15 one would cost around 35 amber to revive though you can easily get amber by opening supply drops. This isn’t the best way as amber is hard to get but out of all the techniques I’ve seen it’s the easiest

Net it, trap it with gates around it, Trang it

Hit em with that net gun. Then shoot them in the head with shocking tranq darts or reg tranq darts and baboom you have a quetzal.

Quetzals will most likely spawn inbetween Craggs Island and the Red Obelisk, around 85,20, its spawn is just above the river that flows through the side of the island

Use 1 shocking tranq darts and then shoot it a few times with a tranq arrows for your first low lvl quetz it's easier and faster and it lower the risks of get downed and then dropping in water

(Old Ark Mobile)This is very long to do but effective, First tame a Tapejara, after doing that tame a high level female Rex make rex kibble. The the Quetzal taming, prepare, find a high level Quetzal, remember Tapejara saddles have two seats, switch seats then whistle 'target' then the Tapejara will follow the Quetzal, next shoot it with darts, when it's knock down apply soothing balm and put the kibble in it's inventory, make sure the area where it's knock down is safe.

This tip is good for mobile find the big bird then kill take its implant revive in box tame it done

If you cant find any at the red obelisk check the snowy mountainous areas
