I tamed one by using a bola and slapping him to sleep with my fists. I'm a real man.

These guys should have two kinds of attacks, one with claws only, the other one with tail only, as it's mostly killing others creatures, instead of tranq

Thumbs up, so wildcard would see it

Sting any creature that’s attacking to turn them passive

Thorny dragon or Pulmonoscorpious. Which is better?

Thornys and scorpions are some of the only nock-out tames in the game. They both deal a good amount of torpor, but which is better to knock?

Using the stats of a lvl 1 equs, dodoex says that it will take 10 stings from a scorpion or 105 thorny needles from a base lvl to knock a lvl 1 equs. It might seem that the thorny dragon is immediately disqualified, but hold on a second. The thorny shoots 10 quills at a time, so if we divide 105 by 10 we get 10.5, meaning you will need to get almost eleven full hits to knock out. Taking in account that is is hard to get full hits, the number of shots you need to take is much greater than a pulmo. Thus the pulmo is the best out of the two! Thx for reading!

Hint: Don't jump and get stuck between their claws when they are knocked out, then you can't move. I learned that from experience.

You should def be able to "milk" a scorp for narcotics

I don't know why the guy saying they're not affected by Bolas is at the top. I just hit a level 5 wild in the mountain area with a bola right in the legs and it froze in place perfectly, no issues. BOLAS WORK, BUT YOU HAVE TO HIT THE LEGS, THE THIN SKITTERY EASY TO MISS LEGS.

In my opinion, these guys are the best, go on, say i am weird.

First, they are very easy to tame, all you need is a few spoiled meats and a bola, tranq arrows or even slingshots will do.

Second, after they are tamed, they are super useful, you can use them for cheap creature knock-outs, plus, if you tamed one in a cave, then use it for exploration, nothing in the cave can pick on you, making it easy to get to the artifacts.

Third, they are super easy to care for, they eat spoiled meat as well, so if a stack of meat spoils in its inventory, it will still eat them.

They have decent speed, stamina and melee damage, and can cross over tough terrain that most dinosaurs can’t.

Plus cool

One of the best early game tames, it will make some creatures ignore you, and it also deals topor damage (more damage = more topor per hit). It is very mobile, and the best part is that when you use it's stinger to attack, it makes creatures stop aggroing you for a short period of time. It doesn't have the best speed and health, but it is compensated in one of the best tames you can ever have.

Do not listen to the person who said you won’t be noticed by a carnivore RIP scorpes

Hi I’m MastaCheeks420… here is my story

One day I ventured into one of the caves that you can find on the missions (ark Mobile) and it was a VERY GOOD place for metal and rocks etc. Only downside was the titanaboa and the spider along with the scorpions (plz don’t judge I can’t remember names) but at the time I didn’t know about them. There was this cliff that I didn’t see and I fell down into it. NOTE: I’m about level 40+ and unlocked the primitive longneck rifle, primitive double barrel shotgun, and primitive crossbow (no attachments). Lucky I had 50 rifle shells and 46 shotgun-shells, with a handful of arrows in the crispy crossbow 🤘. So here is the layout of the cave… and yes I know it’s a freaking essay OK JUST DEAL WITH IT! But anyways the layout is first the cliff… no way up it’s too steap to climb and I had no resources on me other than food and water. So along with the wall on your back you have a front section of a “Y” or aka a fork. So I decide while I’m in there to find the artifact that was in there. I found it and I had just wasted 26 rifle rounds taking out 1000 hp+ scorpions so after the artifact I went to the right side of the “Y” and there is where it all started MY FIRST INCOUNTER WITH THE TITANA BOA!!! (But not the first time encountering the scorpions) No joke I thought the guys were tuff as nails but in all reality they are just a huge target. (Doom music kicks in) With the shotgun I started baiting them around a corner to their demise. I would have to run a few trying to reload the double barrel. But they were just easy targets. The tough ones were the spiders and scorpions. I didn’t want to deal with them so what I did was just full on sprint through the whole thing (stamina is at 240 while speed in near 250 so I’m a speedy boy) but I run, swim and parkour over all the critters and when I get to a choke point I am able to gather some wood and fiber to make 1 spike wall!!! And while the spike is building I have a horde of titana boas and arachnids in a big ol’ wave. Like no joke on each other trying to get a piece of me. So I’m blasting away and as soon as I ran out of shotgun bullets the spike wall was finished! I placed it down at the choke point and all of them died! I was able to rack up 4 LEVELS!!! I made my way out like nothing happened with half health and literally dieing of hunger… I had taken about 400 arrows in all from harvesting the titana boas and 804 chitin from spiders+scorpions!! And on my way out feeling like a champ… and then a level 40 Alfa raptor comes and stomps the crap out of me 🥲

Moral of the story… don’t smoke crack!

If u read this far your either a champ or a man/woman with nothing better to do with their life so you mine as well hit the up 🆙 button while u at it 👌 ima post this on the other species I encountered there as well.

Also you can feed it spoiled meat cuz it will eat it too as it is A FRICKIN SCORPION,.,.

This is less of a tip and more of a question, but if I level up a pulmonascorpias melee damage will it increase the torpor???

771 points   🥚 Taming & KO   Oct 18, 2016   Report

Best bet is to Bola the scorpion then shoot with tranq arrows. Best of luck, have fun 😊

78 points   🔧 Utility   Nov 4, 2021   Report

Ok these guys need a TLC patch.

First patch: being able to choose to use its tail for less damage but more torpor, or use its claws for more damage but no torpor.

Second new ability: grabbing a small Dino with its claws only being able to use its tail for attacking while picking up a Dino. Perfect for taming!

When I was a fresh noob to ark I'd tame 3 scorps. I'd ride one and have the other 2 set to follow and there wasn't anything that could stop us

4 points   🥚 Taming & KO   3 weeks ago   Report

I smack this guy with the bola on the head and it still work.I recommend that you get spoiled meat with you so it takes faster

123 points   ⚔️ Encountering   Mar 30, 2021   Report

Level you fortitude, it'll allow you to take more torpor before being knocked, trust me, a few boosts and you'll see the difference, I know it's a stat alot of people dont like boosting, but it really helps for caves and stuff. It also raises your hyperthermic and hypothermic, meaning you dont get as hot or as cold.

508 points   ⚔️ Encountering   Oct 7, 2016   Report

They're very slow so it's easy to kill them with a bow. You can also stab them with a pike or a spear while walking backwards without getting hit.

186 points   🥚 Taming & KO   Apr 12, 2020   Report

Bola it, shoot it in the head with tranq darts, feed it spoiled meat! A very effective and easy tame. Be careful though, they're hard to see in grassy areas. I was taming a sabertooth once when it came up out of nowhere, I went unconscious before I could even run away. It took me 5 tries to get my stuff back from my dead body because the scorpian was always there. In the end, surpinsgly, my sabertooth survived the taming process and I ended up taming the scorpian right after!
