Stories Tips

What are some stories about the pteranodon? Memorable pteranodon stories, wild encounters, and fan fiction.
I had two ptereodons, Toruk and Seyze. Me and Seyze did everything together, and I had plans to mate her with Toruk. Unfortunately when I moved to the snow biome, Toruk was killed and a few days later, Seyze was killed by a pack of direwolves and then myself. I tamed an Argy I cannot ride yet because I'm only level 57 so I decided to get another ptereodon. She has the body colour of Toruk but Seyze's wing colour :,).

Nova and Borealis continued to walk deeper into the forest, led by Twinkle’s directions. As Borealis stared off into the distance, Nova shoved her hands into her white graduation robe pockets. She wondered how long she would have to stay in them.
“These things are so uncomfortable,” Nova thought. “Not to mention, just how unstylish they are. I wonder if Ruby could make me something more… fashionable.”
Borealis suddenly blurted, “You are unusually composed, despite this all. I would expect someone like you to be… more than shaken, to put it lightly.”
“Uh. What exactly are you implying?” Nova asked, raising her eyebrow. Twinkle chittered in disapproval at Borealis’ words. Borealis glared, looking away from her
“Forget it.”
A smile came onto Nova’s lips. “Trying to start small talk, I see. I guess the boredom finally got to you?”
“Boredom. Whatever do you mean by that?”
“The boredom of being someone so stubborn and grade-paranoid.” Nova’s smile twisted into a grin. “Tell me. How long has it been since you’ve had a meaningful talk with anybody?”
Borealis scoffed. “As if that’s your business. But if you truly must know, I always talk. The last time I talked with someone about something important was just yesterday– or shall I say, the day before, with Mrs. Mo. We were discussing my speech I would deliver on stage for our graduation ceremony–”
“That’s where I have to stop you,” Nova interrupted him. “By a real talk, I mean a talk that doesn’t involve school.”
Borealis growled. “Why you–”
“Yeah. I get it. You’re a bore,” Nova teased. She gasped. “Heya. I just realized, that sounds like your name. Get it? Borealis. Bore. That’s your nickname from now on.”
Borealis crossed his arms. “Are you done?”
“No. I’m not,” Nova said, scratching her chin. “I want to see just how much of a bore you are. What’s your favorite ice cream flavor? What’s your favorite flower? And what’s your favorite animal?”
Nova smugly leaned her head back, taking in all the sunlight while Borealis basked in the shade. Borealis thought for only two seconds before answering all three.
“Vanilla, dandelions, and dogs.”
“You’ve got to be kidding me. That is the most boring favorite of someone I’ve ever heard. And did you just say vanilla? That literally tastes like nothing.”
“Vanilla tastes like vanilla, fool,” Borealis glared. “Do not judge my preferences.”
“Like you have any. Those could barely be called preferences. That’s so lousy. Come on! Isn’t there anything else you like? What about…” Nova paused. She cut herself off. It probably wasn’t best to mention his dead ‘lover’ during a time like this.
“Enough,” Borealis declared. “Your questions drive me mad. Cease your yammering.”
“You even talk funny,” Nova trailed on. “You sound like some knight from the medieval times. I bet you think that sounds tough.”
“This is how I naturally articulate myself,” Borealis said.
“Yeah. Right.”
Just then, Borealis’ gaze shifted to the skies. He spotted a pillar of red light coming down from the skies, quite a few whiles away. It looked rather suspicious– but also worth checking out.
“Hm. See that?” Borealis asked.
“No, I don’t,” Nova said dramatically, rolling her eyes.
“How odd. Perhaps you need your eyes checked.”
“That was sarcasm, you idiot!”
“What’s that?” Borealis mocked.
“How do you not know what sarcasm is?”
“Now that is what real sarcasm sounds like,” Borealis said haughtily. “Perhaps you need to get your humor checked too.”
“Oh shut up,” Nova said, but a smile naturally formed at Borealis’ retort. “Let’s go check that out, then. It might be something useful to note for later, when we regroup with Big Jack and his friends.”
Twinkle chirped nervously. Nova almost forgot she was carrying him in his arms. She looked down with a raised eyebrow.
“What is it, little guy?”
Twinkle chirped again, this time a bit louder. Borealis squinted, raising his hand in the air to demand silence. It sounded like fast footsteps were approaching. And then the bark of a raptor shot through the air.
KEN! KEN!
“Oh dear,” Borealis said, his voice dropping to a whisper. His eyes glanced at Nova's back, before remembering that her bow broke in the fight against Big Jack and the others. “We have a problem.”
Nova bent her knees, preparing to run, but it was too late. Two raptors already emerged from the treelines, their eyes pinned to the two humans. Borealis raised his fists, clenching them so hard it looked like his veins were about to pop. Nova had no choice but to raise hers too.
“We can’t just make a run for it, can we?” Nova inquired. Borealis shook his head. “A poor choice, truly. The boy told me that raptors naturally run faster than humans. Not to mention…”
He pointed at a bush behind them. It rustled, and another raptor popped out. It was an ambush, almost deliberate in nature.
“It appears we’re cornered.”
“Well sh*t me timbers,” Nova said, her voice shaking. She took a deep breath. Twinkle grew warmer, and Nova really hoped it wasn’t because he peed himself. She crouched down slowly, trying not to awaken any of the raptor’s instincts, setting Twinkle on the ground. Twinkle ruffled his feathers, his chest glowing.
“We’re just going to have to try and fight our way out of this,” Nova declared. Borealis let out another huff. He was breathing in and out of his nostrils so heavily that Nova thought he sounded a bit like a horse. She snapped at him, “Chill out.”
“There is no ‘chilling out’. This is life or death.”
“Yeah, true,” Nova whispered as the raptors approached closer. “But… if we’re gonna go, we might as well go out with a bang.”
Nova grinned. She snapped her fingers. Twinkle seemed to take it as an order, because he looked at Borealis, and a gentle light carried from his chest to his body. Borealis took a deep breath.
“A bang, huh?” Borealis almost laughed. “Okay, okay… let’s see how this goes.”
The three raptors growled as they circled the two, snapping their jaws and barking at them like rabid dogs. Borealis let out an exhale, his eyes glazing over with an eerie, overwhelming feeling of ecstasy. Nova rooted her feet into the ground, setting her eyes on one raptor in particular. The question is, who will strike first?
“Prepare yourself,” Nova told herself.
KREEE! A single raptor barked, sprinting forward and jumping at Nova. Nova let out a giggle, rolling out of the way. The raptor stumbled, its talons scratching the grass. As it recovered… WHAM! Borealis slammed his powerful fist into the beast’s. The beast let out a cry as three sharp teeth flew into the dirt. Nova let out a roar and hopped onto the raptor’s back, plunging her fingers into its beady eyes.
KREEEEEE! The raptor howled, throwing Nova off its back. The other two raptors wasted no time diving in to attack. One raptor went for Nova, the other went for Borealis. The raptor that went for Borealis was quickly manhandled. With surprising strength, Borealis managed to wrap his arms around the raptor’s throat. He let out a roar, squeezing tight. The raptor thrashed violently. One of its claws even scratched Borealis on the arm, but he barely noticed. The raptor became weaker and weaker, its eyes rolling to the back of its head.
“Hyah!” Nova shouted, punching the raptor she was facing in the eye. The raptor cried again, scratching at its eyes with its talons. The first raptor that was maimed rose from the ground to help its kind, but Borealis lifted his boot and slammed downward. PUNT! Its head was sent flying back into the dirt.
THUMP! Borealis dropped the raptor he was manhandling to the ground. Foam frothed at its mouth, looking more dead than unconscious. He slammed his boot into the skull of the first raptor afterward. Blood spurted onto the bottom of his black robe.
“Pitiful,” Borealis said with a low chuckle. “You may be correct after all. This wasn’t so fun–”
“AH!” Nova shouted. The raptor had created two large cuts on Nova’s robe. Nova quickly retaliated with a jab to the throat. The raptor cried, convulsing and collapsing to the ground, unconscious. Before Nova could lift her foot to crush it, her robes slipped off her body, leaving her upper body quite bare, to say the least. She let out a high-pitched squeak, covering her chest. Borealis turned away.
“Don’t look, jackass!” Nova barked. She cursed under her breath, “What the ever-living f*ck is wrong with this place…”
She walked behind a large tree, quickly snatching what was left of her robe from the grass. She seemed more embarrassed than anything. Borealis didn’t turn back to look once. He let out a sigh, shouting out, “Are you done?”
“No, dude,” Nova retorted. “That stupid thing cut through my shirt too. God damn it all! For f*ck’s sake, that was my favorite one too!”
Nova’s head peeked past the tree, looking at Borealis’ back. Her cheeks were flushed red, surprisingly, for someone so tanned. He didn’t seem to notice that she was staring at him.
“Hey, lend me your robe.”
Borealis’ black robe landed on the ground next to Nova. She picked it up and scampered behind the tree again. A few seconds later, she peeked her head out again, shouting, “Thanks, I guess.”
“You are very welcome.”
A few moments later, Nova came out from her ‘changing room’, donning the new black robe. It was rather baggy on her, but she seemed to enjoy it more that way. She lifted her arms, seeing just how large her sleeves were.
“This thing is nice, Bore,” Nova said. “I personally don’t think it’s fair that any of the other graduates get something this comfy. I quite like it.”
“I don’t have a say in graduation ceremony attire. That is all Ms. Mo’s doing,” Borealis declared. Nova looked Borealis up and down. He seemed to be wearing a white compression t-shirt and baggy black sweatpants. A rather basic attire, but Nova expected nothing less.
For a moment, her eyes landed on Borealis’ abs. They were quite compact. Nova considered poking fun at it for a moment, but her jokes were interrupted when Twinkle walked up to Nova, pecking her on the leg and hopping over the unconscious raptor.
“Oh right. This thing,” Nova said. She lifted her foot, placing it on the raptor’s arm. “We’re killing it. And we’re gonna make it hurt, too.”
Borealis nodded, understanding her reasons. “Fine. Just do not take too long.”
But before Nova could begin her fun, the soft crunch of branches echoed and quicked from a distance.
“I would advise you not to kill that raptor.”
Nova spun around to see a woman casually approaching them with her hands in her pockets, an emotionless smile plastered on her face. A pair of golden aviators covered her eyes, and her golden-brown hair was tied into a messy bun, some bangs hanging down her forehead and sideburns. Half of her white graduation robe was cut off, exposing the blue baggy jeans she wore underneath, along with brown hiking boots that looked brand new. Nova spotted black leggings underneath her jagged jeans.
“Damn,” Nova thought, “She has good taste, for sure.”
“Um. Who are you?” Borealis asked, at a loss of words at the newcomer.
The woman scratched her head.
“Oh. Yeah. Right. You can’t recognize me. After all…” she paused. “Anyway, I’ve been looking for you guys. You don’t know me. Which is fine. You’re not supposed to.”
“What are you talking about?” Borealis questioned. He asked again, “Who are you?”
“Right, right,” she said, trailing off. “I have to introduce myself. Uh, you can call me Bria, I guess. Yeah. That’s my name. Definitely.”
Nova and Borealis shared a look of suspicion.
The story of PurpleMatter: Days 1-281 (281 days as of April 12, 2025)
My Ark career has gone a long way from when I was a noob. My best friend taught me everything I need to know, and he retired from ARK over an year ago. From videos, I now know almost everything about Ark. ARK Mobile is where it all began. In Season 3 of ARK Mobile, I hoped it would bring better adventures than ever and lead me on the path to mastery. And indeed it did. The first 100 days, you might think were as normal. But I do a lot of things my way. But what wasn’t expected was the pteranodon I was about to tame for the series. If you read the title, you’ll know what I named her.
She may only have been a Level 85 the day I tamed her. But that did not mean she wasn’t great. Sure, it’s not the best level, but don’t be fooled. I wasn’t prepared for the journey we were about to have.
Days 30-40
Our story begins in the early stages of Days 30-40, where I was looking out for pursuits and a pteranodon to tame. I did a lot of taming pursuits. When I looked in the redwoods, I found a Level 85 Pteranodon, who looked really good. I decided she was going to be my best bet. Oh, she was. I didn’t know at the time. I got a soothing balm and managed to tame her quickly with no problems, and then I saw a pursuit, Tame Pteranodon, which was perfect. It gave me a saddle. 92 armor.. Pay attention to the armor’s number, because that’s the only reason she’s still alive. You’ll see why later. I didn’t expect much, except that I was going to take to the skies and tame things easier. I got many things from many caves. I decided to start a Giga mutation grind. Because why not? But… the first Giga of the series… this one…
You’re about to see why I named him Brutality and gave him the title, “The End of Taming”...
Days 50-60 and 60-70
I found a 95 female Giga, but it despawned. But I found an even better level. But I had no idea of what would happen. My original plan was to knock it out from its back via grappling hook. But my armor at the time was so weak it couldn’t take one hit. So that meant before I could even start, the Giga ruined me and destroyed all my armor. Thankfully, my pteranodon was high in the sky so the Giga couldn’t get her. The Giga was a 120, and a male. There was a bed near where the Giga was, so I went there and requested the pteranodon. I got my stuff and led the Giga down to where I wanted to trap it. It was betwee two sides of a cliff, behind a big rock. My plan was to get the Giga in that position and knock it out. I had all the tranqs, all the narcotics, and the soothing balm. After a little struggle, I managed to get it stuck, and I was knocking it out happily and easily… until everything started going wrong. He called a raptor to ambush me, and it pushed me off the cliff into the Giga’s mouth. I tried everything to get my stuff back, but it was on the wall high above the cliff. I even requested Yeetus the Galli, and he wasn’t much of a help. I soon managed to grab my stuff with one minute to spare. But I probably should’ve brought Yeetus home before continuing, because soon, the Giga decided he would be a good meal. And since he was such a low level, I had no chance to react and was forced to watch as the Giga ate up the funnest tame I’ve ever had. I was upset and I knew right then I had to get him. But Yeetus wasn’t the only tame I would lose. Later, PurpleMatter got so hurt and had no food I was forced to use my Argy to bait the Giga in. I got food for PurpleMatter and let her rest, then I requested my Argy. All was going fine except the fact it wouldn’t stay in the trap, until something terrible happened. It was half health, and it was too low to the ground, and while the Giga was aggroed, it got enough hits on that I couldn’t escape in time, and my Argy was dead and gone in seconds. I flew home to regroup and get more tranqs because I used them all, and then a trap. And when I returned, I requested my Raptor and went to trap the Giga. It was going well, until when I was placing the last billboard, I misclicked and accidentally scratched the Giga’s leg, immediately drawing its aggro. In seconds, my raptor was ended. I was upset. I was not giving up there. I put the billboard in the gap of the cliff so now if the Giga fell in there, he would be perfectly secured. I just needed to not die. After almost losing my Pteranodon over and over and over and OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I finally got it stuck, placed spikes around me so nothing could ambush me. Then I slept to get it to 0 food, but then I ran out of tranqs. So I had to get home and get more. After that, I almost lost her over and over and over until I finally got it trapped. I slept near it to get it to 0 food, then I shot it down with tranqs for a while and finally, he was down. After a soothing balm and some prime meat, he was mine. I immediately gave him a name he deserved. Brutality, because of how hard it was to trap him. Title: The End of Taming, because not only did he destroy 3 of my tames, he also did something that could’ve ended Season 3. Because I will not continue the series if my pteranodon dies like that. The thing is, Season 3 would’ve been brought to its end a long time ago if I didn’t get such a saddle from the pursuit. With a primitive saddle, the Giga would’ve easily killed her. So Brutality was forever known as: The End of Taming, for almost bringing an end to all of my taming plans for Season 3.
But this, unfortunately, was not the last of the Giga close calls. Oh, no. There were a lot more throughout the series.
During the course of Days 1-100, she had helped me tame many things. But there was a Alpha Rex. I killed it with my Allos, and kept PurpleMatter out of the way because like I said,
If PurpleMatter dies before the end of Day 200, I have to end Season 3. Day 200 is when I hope to do a dungeon, but we’ll get to that later. All of my Allos died, but I managed to get my pteranodon in time. I also wanted a small wolf pack. I got a pretty one who was Level 115. Later on, I found a 150. And yeah, I bred the two and got a wolf. It was perfect. With Eery Candy, I could imprint it instantly. Thus, I could 100% imprint a wolf, which is something you can’t do in normal circumstances in singleplayer. With him, I could get the Strong cave done. After a while, I did all the armor pursuits and got good fur armor. I managed to finish the cave. The problem was: I needed a better helmet. In the last chamber, we got ambushed and we got so close to losing the greatest wolf we’ve ever had. Tracker, who had come back from Season 2, got down to 300 health out of almost 2000. That’s just stupid. She needed a better helmet. And I got her one. PurpleMatter has been through a lot. I remember finding a 140 Giga, which I would soon find out was the most powerful Giga I’ve ever tamed. But there was a huge scare. I tried to destroy the trap, but kept dismounting right next to him! I’ll tell you now, if he was not distracted with the corpses, I wouldn’t have anything left. My armor was weak and he would definitely have one shot me. If the Giga had aggroed when I accidentally dismounted, and he wasn’t distracted… I told you we would have more close calls. She may be the greatest tame ever, but she’s also the most vulnerable. She can tank 4 hits from a Giga, but the problem is: my armor proves I can only tank one. So if a Giga aggroed on me while I was doing something, we would be on Season 4 by now.
Days 100-200:
During this period, my goal was to get a ton of amber, and that’s what I was going for. I had the Thick Skin ability and my wolves, which was good. It’d protect me from the poison in the swamp cave, which is way easier on mobile. It’d be a nightmare if it was as bad as it was on the other platforms. PurpleMatter helped me get so much. Many tames, many caves, but it didn’t come without the troubles. There were times where things got bad. An incident with a decently leveled Alpha Rex. I had some Allos to kill it. But yeah, it got bad. II find reverting saves to keep my tames cheating. I did that with PurpleMatter twice before Day 200. So if she dies before Day 300, I end the series. The first time was during the Alpha Rex incident. The second after I lost my best wolf. But at least I got a good amount of amber out of it all. And the original group of Gigas…
Day 200-300
It’s been a while since I wrote here. Update: PurpleMatter has gained many levels. She has fought in many battles, barely survived so many Gigas. I tamed a Giga named Savage, who had really good melee. He became the strongest Giga ever. He’s killed multiple Gigas and Titans, and thanks to the bleed of a wild Giga, PurpleMatter even got kill credit from a Titanosaur! Without her, I don’t think I would’ve even come this far in Ark mobile, gotten so many Gigas.
Now, here I stand, almost Day 300. Day 280-290. I have two out of the three Giga color regions mutated. I am grinding eggs to hatch (The Giga eggs on mobile take 5 hours to hatch, dude!!) and hoping to get a mutation on the last color region, then get a whole army of the fully mutated Giga. PupleMatter is strong, she is brave, courageous, she is unstoppable, and she is the greatest Pteranodon I have ever tamed. Pteranodons are in my top 5 favorite dinos, thanks to her. That’s saying a lot, because I love Brontos, Rexes, Dimporphs, Trikes, Theris, and a lot of other dinos! The Giga mutation grind is racing at full speed thanks to PurpleMatter.
And you might be asking: What’d happen if you lost PurpleMatter entirely? Like, no saves to get her back without losing 20 days of progress, no implant, nothing?
I’d… I refuse to think about it. I’d definitely be absolutely devastated. I just… don’t ask me that again. Seriously… just don’t.
Okay, for real, it’d be really upsetting. Her stats took so long to level up. Do you know how long it took me to get him 20,000 XP, say that again, 20 THOUSAND XP!! On mobile, XP is slightly nerfed and it’s pretty difficult to level. It’d be so hard to replace her. Her saddle is impossible to replace since it was only retrieved from a pursuit.
PurpleMatter helped me tame Savage. Savage helped me get to Level 81 because he could kill Titans. Thanks to that XP, I got the Trophy Room pursuit, which is basically super OP on mobile since it gives 200,000 XP on medium. Max XP boost, 7x, can get me to Level 92, which got me the Hunt Giga pursuit. Savage killed that Giga. I got a Titanosaur saddle. I grinded for a Titan tame and I got the Titanosaur. In a way, PurpleMatter is what got me the Titanosaur. Her saddle really made a difference. Even Argies with more HP can get decimated from Gigas bleed due to the saddle. I lost many Argies thanks to the Gigas. I say right now, PurpleMatter would’ve died a long, long time ago if not for that saddle. She is not just a pteranodon. She is a true Survivor.
I hoped you enjoyed this long story by me. If you want more, go read Journey Through All Creatures. You can find the first chapter and prologue in Achatina. You’ll have to scroll down a lot, though. That’s the Dododex fanfiction community right there.
Anyway, I will continue updating you guys on PurpleMatter’s journey. I will see you all later.

Every time on Dodex I’m looking at different things and every time I go look at tips and stuff I see like I was flying with my favorite flying buddy and I saw a Spin-off I tried to knock it down and I did but my favorite buddy died during it :(
1 up = R.I.P to the most loyal common flying buddies
(Sorry if there’s bad spelling/grammar)
I tamed a pteranodon lvl 47 because I needed him for exploring. I got back to my house, and was happy that everything worked out well. But thinking that before the day ends is a mistake... Suddenly I heard a strange noise from behind. I turned around to see that a dilo had attacked my parasaur, which then beat up the poor dilo. It decided to flee ir just lost interres and ran into an triceratops my parasaur tried to finish the dilo but hit the trike. Then the Trike attacked it. Then my pteranodon attacked it. Then another trike came. My pterwnodon decided it wont land so i can bring it into safety, and I had to watch it getting killed. I was filled with hate and killed everything around me. R.I.P not even named
One time o was wandering with my best bud my pteranodon and I saw another pteranodon super low level mine was decent level I was like ooh I should steal it’s egg and I did them both the pteranodons took to the sky and fought for what felt like ages then one day I was looking for a new one and I ran in to my old pteranodon! I was super happy then it got killed one 👍🏼 = one pteranodon army to get revenge on that type of dinosaur
