You can tame them with meat now and it will take around 6 meat to tame them

Wait till the ptery lands and bola it. Then shoot the ptery in the head with tranqs spread out 5 seconds apart (Mastercraft crossbow and above should only take 1 shot to the head). Build a spiked wall cage around the ptery (5 spiked walls will be enough). If you're on a mount and using kibble you can just park the mount in the cage and sit in the walls with it until it tames. Safest way to tame pterys without having to worry about wild dinos. Give it a try for yourself; good luck!

Scout:

Any level up Ptera will do as the only stat you need to level up is movement speed. Good for getting around very fast.

Transport:

A high level Ptera is recommended. Can be used to quickly transport resources back to base. I recommend leveling up weight to 300-350 and put the rest of the points into movement speed. 300-350 weight will ensure that you can carry a full stack of 200 metal, saddle and tools without being encumbered. Works great with an ankylo at the mining site or a character with high amounts of melee.

Meat Gatherer:

A high level Ptera is preferred. Level up stamina to 2k, movement speed to 160-180% and put the rest into melee. This makes harvesting prime easy as you can quickly fly it back to base before it spoils. Level up weight as needed.

The Pteranodon has no weight if i were u i would take argy

After you find yourself a pteranodon tie it up using a bola knock it out feed it fish (is recemended) or use regular meat but also feed it the narcotics paste helps a lot have fun with your pteranodon!

They don’t have a lot of weight capacity when I comes to flying

My tribe got wiped ya know, so we went looking for are enemy's and one landed at a red drop. Me and 3 of my friends with only clubs knocked out the guy and stole all his stuff and KO his 260 bird then continued to kill it with only clubs. There glass cannons u can kill it with a pebble

In some servers, bolas may be glitches and will not work. I've already encountered one server in particular (on Xbox) which is primitive plus server 2. If you encounter a low level pteranodon or other Dino early in the game and you have a bola on you, use it to test if the bola will immobilize the Dino or if it is glitches.

They are docile creatures, that will run away from you if you attack, unless you steal there eggs

Look around Rex river(under volcano) there are usually at least 5 125+ pteranodons between the river and the end of the redwood where the swamp connects with the river. Also tons in the redwoods near that pond more towards red ob side. I recommend using an argy or quetz so that when you bola it you can easily kill or pick up hostiles. Make sure to throw up Spick walls as fast as you can or those pesky terror birds will soon be there to ruin your day.

Have actual narcotics on you because the berries give very little torpor. Soothing balm will allow you to tame it easier because it make it clam and will let your taming food do more. Make sure also have saddle ready so you can get wherever you need to go before you run into trouble. I tried taming one without narcotics and it torpor dropped to fast to tame it.

I usually just bola and tranq out with tranq arrows, I usually try to bring at least 10 if you want to tranq it out please up if you found this helpful!

When A pteranodon is flying still it will loose very little stamina. Up if this helped

If they are on nutral dont have them follow your boat they close to wster and will stop to fight anything that attacks

Best tame I probably have. They are the best to fly you all over the map. I suggest leveling up there weight and stamena.
