What are tips for pteranodon? Tips and strategies for pteranodon in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
Bola the creature in then knock it out with club.
Just throw a bola on them and your will never ever have problems to knock them out again
Definitely one of the best dinosaurs in the game, if you don't have a quatzal or tapejara yet. I recommend having a strong, a quick and a weight carrying pterenadon to help you around. Also useful for parking on rocks to snipe dinosaurs or to attack with it, since it can attack and fly away, and that a lot of times can even kill a rex
Watch out if it is a low level Pterandon amd you have tranq arrows because if you are trying to tame you might kill instead.
Build spikes or walls around your bird or anything hightvlvl u knock out
Got a perfect tame on a 150 over the double xp weekend. It ended up being a 212 when it was said and done. Now it is at 261 with Max lvl at 273. Health and stamina 2k, weight over 300, and melee just over 400. He is a beast! Bola legs and let him eat dodo kibble. It only took 12 or 13 kibble due to the double xp weekend.
The safest place to look is on herbivore island but the place with the most pteras is along redwood river
Look around rivers I mostly go to 50/50 or black sands river or herbivore island there are always terra around there and use a bola or trap it using another terra to do that wait till it lands walk into it face and fly up and land straight afterimage will hopefully trap
Bola and don't use the tranq info from dododex because it's absolutely wrong by about 3 and 100 on a giga
Find a ptera that's a 140 or higher with base melee that's 200 or better. That's how you get the strongest birds! I just found a 145 with base melee at 245!
A Pteranodon can be an effective battle mount, given enough stamina and melee points. The roll attack allows you to do damage and speed on by without taking too much yourself, and with some points in stamina you can keep at it without having to land often. You can easily outrun nearly anything to land for a moment and rest up, and they regain stamina quickly.
Scout:
Any level of pteranodon will work as the only stay you need to level up is weight. Good for getting around very fast.
Transport:
High level Ptera is preferred. Can be used to quickly transport resources back to base. I recommend pumping weight up to 300-350 and putting the rest into speed. 300-350 will ensure that you can carry an entire stack of 200 metal, saddle, and tools without being encumbered. Works well an ankylo at the mining site or a character with high amounts of melee for fast harvesting.
Meat Gatherer:
High level Ptera preferred. Level up stamina to 2k, movement speed to 160-180% and the rest of the points to melee. This makes harvesting prime meat easy as you can fly it back to base in time and get it cooked before it spoils. Level up weight as necessary.
Bring at least one bola, 3-4 spike walls and a crossbow with tranq arrows. Wait for the pteranodon to land and wind up the bola to trap it in place. Shoot it in the head with tranq arrows and wait 5 seconds between shots. Once knocked out, place spike walls around it with a small gap so you can get in and check on its hunger and torpor. Check back every so often to add extra narcotics until tamed.
How to tame a ptero
Ya will need:
-bolas
-narcoberry
-meat
Find a ptero and throw bola on it. Knock that even it stay unconscious. Put meat on inventory (recommended 20 or less or more bc the tame bar grow slowly). Why narcoberries? When its unconsciousness will be ending, start feeding narcoberries to fill unconscious bar. Sorry if my english is bad.
Very very hard when I was trying to tame this I didn’t sucseed because
it keeps flying away.
1 make a bow and 5 knock out arrows.
2 find a pteranodon that’s on the ground.
3 shoot it in the head with arrow and if it flys hit it again.
4 give it dodo kibble ( only on mobile ) or simple kibble.
5 give it nacro berries if it is about to wake up.
6 give a saddle for your new friend.
If you see one knock it out and tame it and make a saddel
For newer players...keep an eye on the Stam bar I've lost countless pteranadons by this rookie mistake
May the force be with you!
