What is a pelagornis used for? pelagornis battling strategies in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
It’s a very underestimated flying tame. What makes it so good is its ability to harvest polymer and it can land in water. It’s like a hespioronis and pt mixed. The only downsides are its saddle comes after the pt at level 43 and it only eats fish. Also when I tried to bola it, it didn’t work so I just knocked it out with a bat
I'm so bored that I bred and max imprinted this birdies and they don't dissappoint. It can carry and harvest too much polymer I built storages dedicated only for organic poly because of this guy. It's slow and low on weight but they have reduction on organic poly, but they have a mid stamina and HP and they don't dismount you on waters. I have 6 of this max imprinted guys that I used for organic poly and penguin party and now I never run out of organic poly. If you ever tame one, get another two or three. You can use em mid game for transport along with 2 argies.
Started a new game with Ascended and got disgusted by all the low level Pteranodon everywhere after looking for decent level ones for days so I settled for a Pelagornis in the meantime… Not a bad bird at all!
When I tamed mine it was a mid-ish level and the stats weren’t the absolute best but it served its purpose well with grabbing a few chief resources I needed and with general scouting on the island. I pumped mainly health, stamina, weight and melee into mine and it’s working out so far so good. It’s alright for fighting off smaller creatures but usually I try to gtfo before it gets too hairy so the bird doesn’t get killed. It’s handy that it can fly, walk on land and swim. It recovers stamina even while moving in the water so it’s nice to constantly be moving whereas you have to find a safe spot to land and rest with other bird mounts. Insta-kills fish like piranhas which is helpful! But please don’t try to fight Megalodon with it, it might not end well lol.
All in all, it’s definitely helpful when you’re starting out. Knocking them out is not the hard part; just simply bola it and tranq it. The hardest part is having enough narcotics to make sure it stays down while you tame it. Prime fish meat and kibble works best and lessens the amount of narcotics to use.
I’ll be content with using this animal until I upgrade to an Argy at some point. It’s a decent substitute for a Pteranodon but it’s not as fast as one and I don’t think it packs a punch with melee all that well.
Hope this helps. Happy taming and good luck everyone!
They're great at clearing out pirhana infested waters, since pirhanas will go right up to it but then make a quick 180 when they realize what you're riding, and you kill them in one shot. Great for clearing out swamps, just be mindful of all the other monsters there, especially kapro's
I LOVE the Pelagornis. You don’t even have to tame a high level one. If it’s like level 20 or something it’s still fine. It ain’t no argentavies but its weight is pretty dang good. Gets a like 3 or 5 times damage boost to fish (idk which is one it is) and it one taps them and harvests them in a single attack. It gets a little extra organic polymer too. It can land on water (which is actually pretty op if you think about it) and it can swim pretty fast. You can also fish off the top of it when in water. Also if you look down at an angle and spam take off you will actually go under the water. As soon as you stop, you will float to the surface so you won’t get stuck. All in all, the Pelagornis is easy to access (on the beach so safer than an argent, really common so easier than a tapejara and way better to than a pt), has op abilities (fish damage, landing on water ect), is a pretty good flyer (good weight, alright speed ect) and it’s so easy to tame! Just bola (if you need to), shoot and feed it raw fish or prime fish, feed it narcotics (or just narcoberries) and then it’s tamed! The Pelagornis Is also surprisingly good at climbing. I’ve scaled cliffs with one of these. I would level stamina, weight and health (with a little bit of damage here and there). In my opinion, the Pelagornis is a top-tier flyer. The pelican needs more love. -Alpharius plays ark
These are actually quite good they are slower than pt but still quite fast. They gave decent stamina and do extra dmg against small fishes. They can float on water and can be used as mobile fishing seat. They harvest organic polymer, AND guess what, they regain stamina on water! Try it out. If you can tame a high level one of these, tame one! Equals ptera in multiple aspects, and even surpasses it in some aspects. It’s saddle is also just a bit higher level. Great first flyer before argy
