Just a quick hint for any flying creature affected by the bola, you can, if you’re aim is good enough, knock creatures out of the sky with the bola.

(I figured this out when I tried it after watching How To Train Your Dragon 1, for those who are wondering)

These guys get so much hate for no reason and I love this guy he is amazing on the island because of all the rivers and with his good flight speed and decent whaght makes him perfect for exploring or deap sea fishing

Don't bola and knock out if floating it will drown try to find one that is on or close to the shore

Can easily over encumber itself gathering organic polymer. However, using a quetzal as a carrier of both the animal and the polymer can allow for very successful polymer runs. Sometimes bringing in excess of 1000 in a hour run on an island server.

These guys are really S tier flyers, especially for early game. Although theyre not as fast as the Pteranodon, they can recover stamina and float on water. They are masters at gathering organic polymer. Theyre also decently speedy and a good enough travel mount. My pela named Big Bird has recently been carrying me in my new The Island playthrough and because of him ive been able to get full ghillie extremely early on. Definetely reccommend taming.

Good pet, because it is very flexible when it comes to traveling, as it can travel on land, water, and fly. It has pretty good stamina while doing multiplied damage to fish. The saddle take 75 chitin or keratin, but if phiranas are a problem, this is a solution.

i LOVE seeing all this pela appreciation!! they're slower than the pt but far more versatile and reliable!! the fact they can swim means you can land anywhere and escape predators in a pinch, they instakill fish, and harvest TONS of organic polymer!! i love you pelagornis you are so adorable to me

Single player uses:

1. Early game travel mount: Pelagornis is slightly slower than pteranodon and has equally bad weight and stamina, but since it can swim you won't immediately get dismounted if it force lands you into the water.

2. Free organic polymer: Pelagornis has the best gathering rate for organic polymer of any dino, set one to aggressive in a cage with mating penguins and air conditioners.

So I was out swimming in my raft when I see a bright pink bird in the water. I go to the Dododex, realize I can’t tame it cause it’s over water, and then it got killed by a fish thingy. Rip hot pink bird. One up is respect for this guy.

These guys are literally the only flier mount that doesn't force you to dismount and fly away like a coward while piranhas and crocodiles eat you alive

THEY DISMOUNT YOU FORCEFULLY WHEN FLYING CLOSE OVER LAVA!

You can tame it on primitive plus but you need to make the kibble in a cooking pot. It won't work if you make it in a cauldron. Hopefully that's helpful to those that are trying to make kibble but cannot.

Easy tame just bola shoot head with slingshot shove fish meat down throat and boom that’s how I did it

If your're riding it in water, you can look down and spam the "take off" button to make it semi-submersible. If you dismaout underwater, though, the bird will float back up to the surface of the water

All around best bird, except when battling, it is kind of weak but are amazing for traveling, since you can land on water then swim while you get stamina

Throw your chair out the window, grab a fishing pole, kill leeches, and hop onto your pelagornis. Mobile fishing!

Other than the astrocetus and astrodelphis it’s the only flyer that can land on water

If you hate when your flyer dismounts becuase of it in water well this will fix it it can land and float on water and it doesn't dismount you at all very useful for pvp if your about to go underwater. Becuase a giant squid I cant spell the squids name tho anyways.
