Keep valuable items out of your inventory’s last hotbar slot, and carry a worthless item as bait since Pegomastax can steal from you even while you’re riding a mount. If one grabs something, chase it down and kill it to recover the item, or knock it out if you want to tame it; watch for nearby companions and protect your tames, as they can be dangerous in groups.
