Not rare anymore Easy to find on gen 2 easy side where the trench is one veggie cake will tame it instantly good for wool and mutton

Finding one is the real challenge, they are a rare spawn and furthermore get killed quickly by predators thanks to their slow speed and shared spawn zones with wolves and boars.

Once located, use a strong agile mount like an Allo or Carno to quickly kill every predator around it to stop them from killing your rare tame, then simply walk up to it and feed it a veggie cake.

Better yet just use an eagle to carry them somewhere safe.

Ovis are rare to find on the Island, even though they have a large variety of areas they can spawn in. I personally have the best luck in The Southern Islets on the South East side of the map. As soon as you see one, make sure to grab it, as Ovis are very common prey for many of the Ark's predators due to their special meat, Mutton(which is what you will most likely want them for as well).

On Scorched Earth, they are an uncommon spawn in the Oasis areas, normally near the obelisks(I usually have found them near the Red Obelisk)

On Aberration, they are a semi-common spawn within the Fertile Zone, commonly known as the green zone.

On. Extinction, they can be found in the east end of the Tek City, and all over the Snow Proto-Ark

On Genesis 1, they are quite abundant in the Arctic biome

On Genesis 2, very common in the Eden biome

On Ragnarok, they spawn very frequently within the Highlands

On Valguero, look in the upper forest area of the map, just south of the North Eastern snow

On Crystal Isles, they spawn most commonly in the center of the map, with rarer spawns placed in most other biomes

Mutton for me is now taming as good as kibble.

Why is that?

The sweet veggie cake is the only hard part about this tame

Be careful when breeding, they have a very low carry weight and can starve while it has food in its inventory, monitor food stat and force feed to keep fed. I had 2 females starve while holding food...

Max hp will determine how much mutton you will get when harvested.

Spawn mostly by Blue Ob and Snow mountain across from Blue Ob... on The Island btw

Breeding mechanics not working don't waste your time

Ovis are very rare but their meat are lived by wild carnivores. Find and tame a few to breed and start an infinite mutton farm

Found one right next to the green tower on scortched earth, it was killed by raptor not long after. Then I found another one in the same spot 15 min later. Never seen one on the island map

I can't find the orvis anywhere on the center map. I found one female yesterday and for some reason when I tamed it 5 min later it despawned

These are the perfect mounts to ride into battle! Be sure to tame one and ride your army to victory!

Quick tip, although it is rare, the ovis can actually spawn on the beach bordering the red woods. Tamed my first today and found it on the beach bellow the volcano on the island. Best of luck.
