Clank. Clank. Clank.
After much of the group had filtered through the barrier, Nova led the way down the twisting futuristic hallways, until they eventually reached a giant platform suspended over a pool of water.
Arches extended from the edge of the platform, up toward the ceiling, where a large, red orb hung in the air. The red orb seemed dim, but it still looked like a mass was swirling inside.
Located at the middle of the platform was another terminal.
However, this one was different.
Unlike the other terminals, it seemed to be shaped like an oval rather than the implants within their wrists. The terminal seemed to be connected to tendril-like, thick wires that ran along the arches and connected to the red orb.
“Another terminal?” Samuel asked, raising his eyebrow.
“There does not seem to be a door like the one at the volcano entrance,” Rick observed. Samuel turned to Rick.
“You read some of Tales of Evolution and Survival, right?” Samuel asked him. Alan squinted his eyes at Rick as Samuel asked that question.
“Now what exactly?”
“Don’t feel like explaining now,” Rick replied, “Just know it’s a book that was very helpful. And yes. I did.”
“So do you at least know what comes after this? Is this something that happened in the book?” Samuel asked curiously. He wanted to prepare for the worst. If all of them knew what to expect, they would definitely have to face less trouble.
“I never got to the climax of ‘Part 2’. I think only Tiffany knows about it. You’d have to ask her.”
“Okay. Thanks for letting me know.”
Ruby looked behind her at the pathway that led to the platform. She could see Chris approaching with his dodo, along with Sunny, Gary, Bobby, and Simon.
“Hey y’all,” Sunny shouted monotonously. Neddy waved at Bobby and Simon, who waved back at him. Paige smiled as Chris’ dodo waddled over to her, squawking happily.
“Heyy, you made it safely!” Paige laughed, picking up Chris’ dodo and petting it on the head. Chris’ dodo chirped and buried its beak into Paige’s arms. Gary chuckled at the sight, and for a bit, the yellow blobs on their faces convulsed further.
“Are the others still going through the barrier?” Ruby asked, placing her crossbow on her hook.
“Yeah. Ben went through, but he’s waiting for his friends to go past. And Patricia is-” Sunny was interrupted by pounding footsteps. They could see Patricia running toward them, her hair bouncing as her feet pounded against the futuristic floor.
“There you are Patricia,” Paige said softly, putting down Chris’ dodo. Chris scratched the back of his head.
“You know what? I feel like something’s off,” Chris explained his thoughts, “The others are taking longer than expected. It doesn’t even take that long to pass through the barrier.”
“Perhaps they are making it dramatic…” Neddy hypothesized, pushing his glasses up.
“Yeah. To be fair we all just didn’t go in at once,” Nova murmured.
“I guess the others are still cautious about the fact there may still be more dinosaurs lurking,” Alan said, putting his hands on his hips.
“But we killed all of them,” Bobby responded, “Why would they be cautious?”
“You never know dude. You know how this island is,” Simon jumped in, “They shouldn’t even be here. They went extinct like, a zillion years ago.”
“66 million years ago,” Neddy corrected him.
“There’s still so much mystery on this island,” Samuel said, “And about this place in general. Who made it? How did they create the dinosaurs? The implants? The caves, the artifacts, the system?”
“I’m not sure. But there’s no point in questioning it,” Nova said, “We’re going to be going home soon. Something tells me that this terminal is our way out of here.”
Clank.
Samuel’s head darted to the hallway, and he could see someone carrying a body approaching.
“Is it the guy with the straw hat? John?” Samuel thought, turning his body fully to observe the man.
The man was wearing a black leather jacket and baggy blue jeans, and he was the one holding onto Landon’s body. It was the one Ben called Ian.
Patricia’s eyes sparkled, and she waved at him.
“Hey Ian! There you are! We were wondering where you and the others went!” Patricia shouted. Ian’s gaze shifted from the ground up toward the others. He had a look of shame in his eyes. Paige’s eyes widened.
“His blobs are blue,” Paige realized.
“What happened?”
Behind Ian, Carlos walked behind him, his frying pan lowered and his eyes staring at the ground gloomily. Carlos was rubbing his finger against the pan’s handle anxiously, not daring to look up. Tiffany was also near the back. Her heartbeat remained eerily quiet.
Then, a familiar voice echoed down the corridor.
“Please, Ben… We have to go back. We have to make sure he’s safe.”
“I’m sorry, Paul. There’s nothing we can do.”
Soon, Ben, Paul, and Snowy Mole walked down the hallway and up the pathway to the platform. Snowy Mole was whimpering, and Paul had a defeated expression on his face. Once filled with optimism, Paul was now filled with nothing but despair and hopelessness.
“What happened?” Paige asked once again, her hands getting clammy.
“John. He- uh,” Ben replied, blinking his eyes softly, “He… stayed back. Because there were more dinosaurs. He pushed us through the barrier and decided he’d hold them off for us.”
Samuel didn’t know how to feel. He felt a pang in his heart. Despite only knowing John for three hours, he felt a sense of shame at not being able to do anything to have helped him. And for Landon, too.
“I’m sorry,” Samuel simply apologized, a lump in his throat forming.
Paul’s eyes were bloodshot and red. Tears began to run down his cheeks, and he wiped them away with his sleeves. Carlos put a comforting hand on his shoulder, and Ian closed his eyes.
“Thank you,” Paul said.
“Let’s just go,” Ian added, “We can’t let the dinosaurs catch up.”
The remaining walked up to the platform, and then Samuel approached the terminal.
Samuel considered asking Tiffany what was on the other side, but he decided not to. She seemed really upset.
Samuel simply pressed the button.
“Initiating teleportation sequence,” a robotic voice beeped out.
The tendrils began to convulse, like blood pulsing through veins, and then the giant red orb above them began to glow. Everyone looked up to see streaks of red, blue, and green light spinning around in the shape of a triangle, aimed right down on them. Samuel’s eyes widened at the sight.
“This is just like back home,” Samuel realized, “Before we ended up on this island.”
Before anyone could say anything, a bright light enveloped everyone, and then Samuel’s conscious slipped away.
~
“Bawk! Bawk bawk bawk!”
Samuel was jolted awake to the feeling of something pecking away at his arm. He groggily lifted his head, and noticed that his back was against hard, cold metal. Samuel’s head looked around, and his vision was still blurry.
“This definitely isn’t home,” Samuel thought, rubbing his arms. He began to shiver intensely. It was cold. Really, really cold. He let out an exhale of air, and mist flew out of his mouth. Samuel looked to his left to see a dodo staring at him peculiarly. It was Chris’.
As Samuel regained his vision, he noticed Snowy Mole going around and waking everybody up. The creatures must have woken up before they did. Samuel let out a groan and stood up on his two feet.
“Where are we?” Samuel audibly asked.
“Yo. You’re awake.”
Samuel jumped up in surprise and looked to his left to see Neddy staring him down. He had his spear equipped, and a tired look in his eyes. He must have just woken up. His implant was glowing brightly.
“Oh hey,” Samuel replied, “Got any idea about what this place is?”
“Nope,” Neddy answered. He pointed his thumb behind him, “Although, it seems that the arena we fought the giant gorilla in is here. Along with a bunch of other arenas. You might want to check it out.”
Samuel looked past Neddy and noticed three of the same blue barriers, although instead of moving and vibrating like the one that led to the terminal, these ones were still. Samuel saw Nova staring at the arena of the giant gorilla. She must have woken up before Samuel. Snow was pouring in the artificial environment onto the carcass of the boss monster. There was a podium next to each barrier that displayed a hologram of the boss.
Samuel’s eyes darted to the other two arenas. One was of a huge spider, and the other was of a mythical dragon. The spider’s arena looked like a swamp trapped within a cave, while the dragon’s arena was just a hellish landscape with a volcano in the background, spewing out chunks of rock and lava.
The spider had seemingly melted into the ground, while the dragon’s body was doused in fire, one of its arms missing.
“These must have been the bosses at the other obelisks,” Samuel pondered, walking up to inspect the podiums.
“Dragon: A mythical beast capable of spouting fire from its mouth. The largest and most physically capable of all the bosses. Slain by: Ben, Carlos, Chris, Ian, John, June, Landon, Patricia, Paul, and UNKNOWN. Possessed by: Jackson and Kiara.”
“Possessed? Who are these people?” Samuel asked himself, squinting his eyes, “They don’t sound like people who went to Terran High.”
Samuel heard a groan behind him. He turned around to see Ruby waking up, and everyone else as well. As the others woke up, Samuel took the time to go around and look at the podiums.
“Broodmother: The mother of all spiders. It relies on using its minions to swarm and destroy the enemy, but still boasts a high defense and attack. Slain by: Bobby, Gary, Paige, Rick, Simon, Skyler, and Sunny. Possessed by: Tessa.”
“Skyler must have died defeating the Broodmother,” Samuel thought, feeling solemn. He wasn’t a huge fan of her, but he still respected her. She gave up her life for her friends.
Samuel moved over to the podium of the gorilla.
“Megapithecus: King of the apes. A true powerhouse, it can crush any dinosaur it pleases within an instant. While it may lack the durability of the other bosses, the most likely scenario is it kills its enemies before it is hurt badly. Slain by: Alan, Neddy, Nova, Ruby, and Tiffany. Possessed by: Colton and Eva.”
“I guess my name won’t show up because I don’t have an implant,” Samuel realized sadly.
Samuel felt someone tap on his shoulder. He turned around to see Nova facing him. The others had woken up already, dusting themselves off and getting used to their new environment. Sunny was blasting heat waves all across the room, keeping them warm, and Carlos was handing out some curry too for some reason.
“Ready to go? Everyone wants to move on,” Nova told him. Samuel nodded.
“Yeah. Let’s go.”
Samuel noticed the sadness in the Book Club members’ eyes. The thought of Skyler was still on their mind. The arenas just being artificial battlegrounds in this strange place didn’t help matters.
With that, the group slowly began to walk down a giant metal hallway. The hallway curved and bent, and as they traversed they noticed a hologram of a map displaying into the air above a circular pod. They all stopped to look at it.
It was a map of the North American continent. The group noticed the continent split mostly in half, with one side red, and the other blue. The red side on the left was labeled ‘Western States of America’, and the blue side on the right was labeled ‘United Republic of Democracies’.
This was their home.
As the group stared at the hologram, text began to run down the map.
“The continent had not always been divided. Once, there was a nation called the United States of America. It consisted of both the Western States and the United Republic. However, once a very influential and powerful president was assassinated, the country plunged into chaos.”
“With no hope left in the hearts of the people, they began to live monotonous lives.”
Neddy scratched the back of his head.
“I remember this in history class,” Neddy muttered.
“Me too,” Tiffany softly said.
Nova raised her eyebrow at them.
“You do?”
Samuel noticed that Ben was staring at the map harder than the others. His eyes seemed to be more pinned on the left side of the map, where the Western States were. With a sigh, he looked away from it and began to move onwards.
“Let’s just go guys.”
The group continued to move down the hallway. Just a few dozen more meters, and eventually they saw a hologram of the island they were transported to on the right side of the hallway. Most interestingly, the island wasn’t just any island. It seemed to be situated within a metal cast. A giant observatory hung above the island, shaped like an implant. Text ran across the hologram once again.
“This is an ‘ARK’. The island’s blueprint is based off of it, along with the dinosaurs that roam, and the implants in the scholars’ wrists. The ARK originates from an old, old video game that nobody knows of anymore. It is called ‘ARK: Survival Evolved’.”
“So it was a game all along,” Neddy muttered.
The group continued to move along. They noticed another hologram, this time, of an egg with spots. It seemed that this place they were in was filled with the secrets of the ‘ARK’. Their questions were finally being answered.
“The DODODEX. It was a calculating app which was most helpful to those playing ARK: Survival Evolved, due to its ability to calculate all the resources required to tame a dinosaur. However, it had a hidden forum.”
The hologram of the egg shifted to a simple tip. The header of the tip was labeled ‘Tales of Evolution and Survival’.
“The book,” Samuel thought.
“The story of Tales of Evolution and Survival was posted some time in 2015. It garnered quite a lot of attention and became the most popular story on an app for an unpopular game. Many stories followed, however most did not gain as much attention as Tales of Evolution and Survival did.”
Tiffany was staring at the text, her eyes glued and never moving.
The hologram of the tip shifted to something else. A physical copy of the book.
“Wishing to become more, I published the book out into the world.”
“Only two people read it.”
Samuel felt some pity for the author, however something told him that this was the reason why they had been placed on the island. He clenched his fists, and they continued to move along.
They spotted a statue.
It was a statue of a man wearing a baseball cap. He was somewhat bulky, however he had a proud stance. There was a plaque attached to the statue. It had the man’s name on it.
“Scott Graham.”
“This man was one of the only ones who read my book. He was an amazing author. I still do not know why everybody forgot about him. I strived to be like him. I wanted to be like him. Thus, I sought to redo my book from scratch. I was so unsure of how this legend was able to come up with such enthralling ideas. But his final published title revealed everything I needed to know.”
“In his final book, the characters rebelled against their creator. Him. It was then I truly understood how he had done it. He had created his own world, and let the ideas form on their own through this world. A simulation? Artificial intelligence? I don’t know. But with my status, my funds, and my power, I managed to create something so much more beautiful.”
“Scott Graham, huh?” Rick asked, looking up at the statue, “That’s a familiar name.”
“Yeah. It is,” Tiffany replied.
Ben squinted his eyes at the statue. Samuel didn’t know what he was thinking. Ben seemed to know who he was though.
The group continued to move along. A dozen more meters, and there was a hologram of their implants. It was quite large. It looked to be about as large as a Rex.
“The implant. Perhaps my most beautiful invention yet. Each one holds a special power to be used for assistance in surviving the island, unique and befitting of each user. It’s all about their character. Genius. My friend came up with the idea, although he’s gone now. Each implant contains an essence of my very own implant. The attributes are only possible via the power of creation, which directly comes from me. All of the implants combined should share the same amount of essence as my own.”
“Interesting,” Samuel whispered, “Perhaps that’s why I don’t have an implant. There’s a limited amount.”
The group continued to move along, further intrigued by the history inside of this hall. There seemed to be one final hologram. It was of an orb. A red orb.
“This is the red orb that was suspended above us at the last terminal,” Samuel noted.
“This is the only reason why I managed to get the scholars onto the island. The red orb is capable of teleporting any amount of people anywhere within the space of this universe. It was no easy task creating this, especially the teleportation part. Teleportation for one user is quite easy, however teleporting others is not. I only managed to create it via some blueprints that mysteriously appeared on my desk, and a strange material that was blue and glitchy in texture. I only managed to create three with the resources I had. One below the ARK to teleport the scholars onto the island, another in the TEK Cave to teleport them up here to the Starlit Sanctuary, and another to transport the designated two home.”
Samuel’s eyes lit up at the final words.
“Hey, would you look at that? The way back home is close. It’s probably at the end of this hallway.”
The others began to murmur in excitement, and they picked up the pace, hurrying down the hallway.
A minute later, they reached a large bridge of sorts that was suspended in air. The bridge was made of metal and glass, and they all looked down in awe to see the island below them. They must have been in the observatory on that ARK hologram.
The island below them was pouring with lava, the trees burnt away to a crisp and the landscape unrecognizable. Red and orange was everywhere, and Samuel got shudders looking down on it. Had they taken just a minute longer to defeat Jerry they would have been caught in the mess below. He didn’t even know what the dinosaurs were going through, but it must not have been pretty.
Samuel looked up and saw the beacons that had landed on the ARK hovering in the air, waiting to be dropped down onto the ARK. Samuel suspected that that was no longer going to be happening.
Additionally, there was a strange console near the edge of the bridge. Neddy’s eyes squinted at the console. There seemed to be lines of code running on the console screen. He shook his head and looked ahead.
At the end of the bridge was an opened door similar to the one back at the volcano. There seemed to be one last room past the door.
Wordlessly, the group made their way past the bridge and into the large sanctuary.
It was a beautiful sight.
The walls were made of glass, and outside they could see all of the stars shining brightly upon them. Nebulae and galaxies sparkled in the distance. The white paint-like smear that spread across the night sky was visible for a change. Everyone could see the Earth, a green and blue marble, just out of reach from the hands of the ARK. The ARK seemed to be orbiting at a slow rate. They could see the North American continent down below.
The Moon was nearby, orbiting the Earth as well, slowly but surely. It looked extremely large up close.
The group all stared out the glass pane, drawn in and stunned by the beauty outside. For a moment, they forgot what they came there for. The way back home.
But before they could, they heard a familiar voice echo out behind them.
“Enjoying the view? I don’t blame you. It really is a view over heaven.”
SHOOM.
Everyone’s implants immediately began to glow, and they all let screams of pain, falling to the ground and clutching onto their wrists tightly. Samuel seemed unaffected by this. He turned around and saw a man in a white suit standing, his arms crossed and a smug smirk on his face. His hair was hidden away in a blue baseball cap. Samuel took a step back, almost horrified by the revelation of who had kept them there.
“Mr. President,” Samuel gasped softly.
The others were still writhing on the ground, unable to move, unable to think. Even the creatures were affected.
The President raised his eyebrow, confused.
“How come my Protocol isn’t working on you?”
The air crackled, and he disappeared. Samuel felt someone breathing down his neck, and he jumped in surprise to see that the President had teleported right behind him, inspecting him carefully.
“Hmm,” the President murmured. His eyes darted to Samuel’s left wrist.
“Ahhh. Right. You’re the one that didn’t spawn in with an implant. Samuel, right? You’re that sheriff’s kid.”
“Sheriff’s kid? Are you talking about my dad?”
“Huh? Yeah. I am. You know I took interest in you after he came to my office and threatened me at gunpoint to bring you all down. You should be grateful, really. I would have just blown your brains out otherwise. Can’t risk you ruining my plan,” Dan Walker giggled, “Like father like son, I suppose.”
Samuel’s face immediately contorted with rage at his words.
“What… are you talking about?”
“Your dad? I killed him. Duh.”
A bolt of hatred shot through Samuel’s fists, and he almost punched him in the face right then and there, but he restrained himself. It was clear that Dan Walker had the upper advantage. He’d be toast in a second.
“Anyway. How do I say this… A lot of you survived. Which is surprising, really. The calculations assumed that most of you would be dead, except two. Especially you bookworms. All of you should have died against the Broodmother. If not the Broodmother then the TEK cave. Oh well.”
Dan Walker took a seat, and a chair manifested down for him to sit on. Dan Walker snapped his fingers, and a notepad and pen appeared in his hands. He looked up at Samuel with an unamused look.
“Okay. So anyway, here’s the deal,” Dan Walker proposed, “You survived without an implant. That’s impressive work, I’ll admit. You have a story to tell here. So. I’ll let you live.”
Dan Walker waved his hand to the rest of his friends, who still struggled to move.
“These guys on the other hand, well, I’ve already got their stories. The implants allow me to access their memories. I’ve already copied them and put them into my database. So, uh, really I have no reason to have them live. BUT. As it is a tradition, only two are allowed to escape this place. So I’ll let you choose one more person to live, and you two will get to go home scot-free. The others? They’ll just die.”
“What?”
“Yeah. Generous, aren’t I? Well you better choose now. There’s not much time left. After you choose you’ll have to tell me everything about yourself though. Your past, your present, your future…”
Samuel looked down at the others. They seemed terrified by the prospect. Their lives were in his hands now. Everything they had worked together for would all go to waste. All of their lives would just go down the gutter, just because someone wanted to finish their story.
Samuel’s eyes eventually darted to Nova. She looked up at him, and shook her head.
Samuel firmly nodded back at her.
Perhaps, another version of him would selfishly choose Nova and move on with his life.
But not this one.
“No,” Samuel told Dan Walker.
Dan Walker looked confused. He put his notepad on his lap.
“What do you mean, NO?” Dan Walker asked, “Are you stupid? Need me to spell it out for you?”
“No. I’m not stupid,” Samuel said, taking a step forward, “But I do know one thing. YOU have taken away so many lives. You’ve treated everyone here like characters in a book, killing them off one by one just so you can finish your stupid book you couldn’t even get people to read.”
“I’ll never EVER tell you my story. Because I know you’ll just do this over and over again. You’ll never stop. You…”
“DESERVE TO DIE!”
Dan Walker stood up from his seat in the split of a second, kicking his chair away and tossing the pen and notepad to the side. He rolled his sleeves down, revealing an implant of his own with a purple orb in his left wrist. It began to glow, and Samuel narrowed his eyes, adrenaline and hope pouring down his body like a waterfall.
“Well then,” Dan Walker snarled, “Guess we’ll have to do things the hard way.”
“Your story ends here, scholar.”
Riddles of the Phoenixes series
The War of the Phoenixes.
Chapter eight: Elizabeth and Eric return.
“So what do we do now?” Jack asked Queen Nora as the troops led by Andrew rode away. King William popped his knuckles. “We need to prepare for Tom. Y’all will each get a task. We just haven’t figured them out yet-” He began. “Sir!” A guard cried. “I found these two by the shore, wandering around looking for some guy named Jack..” The guard had a man and a woman in custody. “Get your hands off me! I though people would treat you better out of prison but now I see how wrong I was!” The man yelled. “You think?” The woman asked. “Elizabeth? Eric?” Jack cried. The woman and man froze. “We’ll look who it is.” Elizabeth said sourly.
“Release them.” Nora said. The guard did so. “Jack! We finally found you!” Eric said. “Great. More outsiders.” Cyrus muttered. Cyra glared at him. “Elizabeth and Eric? From Tortuga?” Jay asked. Jack nodded. “I met them in prison!” Jack said, not thinking about how it would sound. Sylvia raised a eyebrow and shot Jay a curious look. “You were in prison?” She asked Jack. Cyra slipped up to Jack’s side. “Not for doing anything wrong! The British captured him because they THOUGHT he was a criminal.” Cyra said defensively. Jack squeezed her hand reassuringly.
“I can’t believe you’re still alive. Weren’t you and your brother in the bakery when a bomb hit it?” Emma asked Elizabeth. Elizabeth’s expression darkened. I was not big by a bomb.…Justin was. I was blown back from the force of the explosion.” She said sadly. “When I woke up the town was in ruin. The buildings were on fire and the British were everywhere. I escaped by swimming to a nearby island.” Jack blinked. “You swam that far?! Tortuga was miles away from any island!” Jack exclaimed. Elizabeth shrugged. “Our family lived on a house boat. My grandad taught me to swim.” She said.
Emma stared into the distance, lost in thought. Her medallion glowed dully. “OK, we’ll all have tasks to do. Cyra, you will stay at the castle and prepare medical supplies. Cyrus, you will stay here at the castle to help General Paul train soldiers and NOT eat anyone when you transform. Sylvia, you will come with me to visit the other kingdoms and talk to them about war. Jack, you will visit Cole’s house and search it for…evidence. Jay, you will sneak into the Shadow phoenix castle and attempt to locate the medallion room. Destroy them all. Eric, you will train under General Paul and Cyrus. Elizabeth, Cyra will teach you how to take care of wounds.
“Emma, you will stay here and…keep a watch out. William is staying here at the castle to watch things while I’m gone. Does everyone got that? Capice?” Nora instructed. They all nodded. Nora sighed. “Good. We all go our separate ways for now. Say your goodbyes. Y’all leave soon. We may win this war yet.” William said. Cyra grabbed Jack’s hand suddenly and led him quietly to a dark corner. Cyrus watched them go, a dark look on his face. “Be careful.” She whispered. Jack searched her eyes. “I will.” He said, grinning slightly. Cyra shook her head, her face serious. “Be careful. Don’t die.” Cyra said. Out of a sudden instinct Jack slid his arms around her, and pulled her close to him. “I’ll do my best.” He said. “That’s not good enough.” She whispered. “Promise me.”
“I promise. You say it as well.”
“I promise.” She said.
Jack moved his face closer to her’s. Slowly closer and closer until their lips were touching and her hands were clutching the back of his head desperately. Her lips were warm against his. Jack was not the first to pull away. Jack grinned shyly at her and tucked a strand of her dark brown hair behind her ear. “I’ll be back.” He said. Cyra smiled for the first time in that conversation. “I know you will.”

The Obelisk
-Chapter 88-
“Hello?”
Nyx’s voice echoed through the dark ravine, repeating her call acrossed the dark stone walls and bouncing back at her. The stars and moon cast a bleary light on the overgrown plants around her, making the giant cliffs look eerie and ominous to enter. She knew the Shadowmane home was close, judging by the very faint scent of water and other carnivores.
She had been away from the camp two days now. ‘Three, if I stay out here any longer. They’re probably so worried.’
She took another step sideways, wondering if she should investigate the ravine. It looked dangerous enough, and she knew she should probably—
There was a sudden, booming sound like rocks cracking from the ravine, and Nyx gasped and backed away. Her gasp echoed back to her, and a hiss came from the darkness.
‘Oh no oh no oh no…’ She crouched low, her belly touching the grass. Through the waves of panic, she called, “Peeri?”
Two yellow eyes appeared a few tail-lengths inside the ravine. “Hello there,” a female voice said.
“Hello,” Nyx called back faintly.
Footsteps. Blinking sharp eyes, the creature came closer, moonlight spilling onto its scales. Nyx spotted blue and black spikes trailing down the creatures long body, along with a strange frill and a dark, angular snout.
“What are you?” Nyx asked.
“What do you know about Peeri?” The creature asked with a curious tilt of its head.
“Not much, if I’m honest.” Nyx said. “Just that she made the prophecy everyone’s heard about. About— the five.”
“What is troubling you?” It asked, obviously catching the lilt in Nyx’s voice.
“Something stupid,” Nyx said. “I thought I was one of them.”
There was a sharp hiss, almost unhearable, followed by the thing asking, “What is your name?”
“Nyx.”
“Why, Nyx,” It said, lifting its long, tall body, smiling sharp white teeth. “You are one of them.”
“What?” Nyx exclaimed.
“I know Peeri,” said the creature. “She talks about you all the time!”
“Really?” Nyx couldn’t help feeling excited, despite all of her doubts about being part of the prophecy. “You really know her?”
“Yes!” she said. “In fact, that is why I’m here. I’ve been looking for you. Peeri wants to meet you.”
Nyx’s eyes lit up. “That’s incredible!”
“She’s waiting for you past the forest, deep in a giant cave. She’ll be expecting you all.”
“All of us?” Nyx asked. “Well, I’ll have to go tell—”
“Oh no, don’t worry,” The thing said. “That’s handled. They’re already on they’re way. If you get going now, it’ll take about a day to get there. I hope you find it.”
“I will!” Nyx turned to leave, then looked back at the creature. “You never told me your name.”
The spiked creature smiled once more. “I’m Ri— Ripple. It was nice to meet you, Nyx.”
“You too!” And Nyx was running, joy ripping through her.
I actually have a level 138 male Oviraptor that I do not use as a breeding aid; it’s actually kinda funny when you think about it.
One day, I’m just walking through the land when I encounter a level 90(somewhere in that range) Oviraptor, whom I’ve encountered more colorful specimens of Oviraptor than himself.
He’s a rather a tan fellow, with some off-white coloring at his thighs and wrists, along with a dark brown stripe among his back and tail, and a few dark spots at the middle sides of his legs, with a dark-gray underbelly; with his onliest hint of unique color being a camo-green on his beak, crest and neck-scales.
I quickly decided that I wanted him; however, high levels take a long time to tame, so I launched a rather large operation, which panned out as follows:
-Requested a flier to my location and carried him all the way over to The Hidden Lake where I live from there. Dropped him down somewhere where he wouldnt frighten himself by coming to close to a tamed creature.
-Flew towards the Southeastern Cave and launched an operation to claim the Artifact for tributing, fighting many insects along the way.
-Tributed the Artifact to the Green Obelisk once and got no Soothing Balm, when I needed it to yield Soothing Balm. Had raptors spawn at the Green Obelisk the 3rd time, making it a good thing I’d chosen to ride my Quetzal, Flappy(level 85 male as of the time I’m writing this).
-Got Soothing Balm the 4th or 5th (potentially 6th) time and already had some big and rare eggs at my disposal to feed the Oviraptor.
-Was able to only need 1 egg to tame the level 90ish Oviraptor thanks to the Sootjing Balm’s affects.
This Oviraptor is now known as Tim, because he is a rather tiny fella after all; but he is strong. He has been leveled to 722 health (still a ways to go), and with a melee damage of 424%, he can already fight turtles and get away with it! He even killed a raptor that I was getting attacked by, with a little help from my Mesopithecus. Tim is currently a level 138 chump.
Planning to get Tim even more sturdy in the Health department so that he can kill some more stuff unaided, specifically stuff he’ll probably need a couple-thousand health or more to make it out alive.
Thanks for reading.
The Ovi/Allo Song
I was walking down the beach, admiring my giga egg, when an Ovi came and said, " listen here boy that egg is mine!" and I figured it was my time to shine.
He bared his teeth I drew my bow, when along came a more fearsome foe.
Allosaur pack of three, turned and crushed the Ovis knee. I hid in side a bush, and they stomped on him til he was mush! And when they started to sniff, I knew of my scent they had caught a whiff.
I ran and looked behind my back, and then I called in my raptor pack. They fought and fought and killed one of the three, but then they had to turn and flee.
I ran and ran and I thought I was dead, but then I remembered my Red named Red. I called him in, and he hit ones neck, and just for heck he grabbed the other and threw it.
There it sank, and he had killed them all, like a tank. Flyers began to soar, and he let out a triumphant roar. I showed the tribe my power and might, and then, there was celebration that night. He

Hi,this is mando,I'm once again making a story of a creature, idk why I am doing these stories but I am,I did one on the sabertooth, dragon, and leed.
The Mystery
"Look,my egg will soon hatch,I cant wait,I wonder if it will be a girl or boy" Medolena(mom rex) said to her husband Max(dad rex),"I hope the egg will hatch to be kind, sweet, and loving like you" Max said to her hugging her "aww, thank you max" Medolena said smiling, when night came along,Max got up and walked to the nest quietly,he looked at the egg and-
(In the morning,in the burrow, the mother lay on the ground murdered, and the egg was stolen, max was telling his neighbors about it) "I dont know! I just woke up and found Medolenas body on the ground, she was dead" the father weeped in pain, crying loudly, his neighbors tried to calm him but he just kept crying,a loud roar came from the woods,2 in fact, the spino known as Sniper, and the giga known as Megatron, were woken by the father's weep of despair "Toughen up rex!" Sniper snaped at Max hissing loudly "Rex are weak, old, creatures that dont belong in this world HA" Megatron said laughing at max,Max replied to them sternly "I dont know who stole my egg or killed my wife, but I'm shure it was you,if it is,I will end you-" Max growled "I dont think you can end us,I'm a spino, and hes a giga,we are unstoppable together" Sniper said in a calm, but rude voice "Shut up stupid Sniper, and retarded Megatron" Max said before whipping his tail around slapping the men in the face walking towards the den,*I will show Sniper and Megatron who's boss,I'm shure or it* he said in his mind,as he ate his wife and he shouldnt be,a few days later,Max said sorry to Sniper and Megatron and invited Sniper into his den for a...party. "wow, you really set up the party Max" Sniper said looking around "Thank you,I worked hard on it" he said as he went through his storage box "I have a surprise for you Sniper" max said as he continued to dig into the box "Turn around and close your eyes Sniper" max said "ok" sniper said turning around and he shut his eyes, wondering what the surprise would be,maybe a anky for dinner? Or a Pteredon Cake for a birthday? He didnt know.max finally got it,max shut his den door, and then,a long, roar that then became the groan of death came from Max's den and Sniper never returned,Megatron was curious and asked to come in, "can I come in Max?" He asked "In a sec! Max replied" "ok,come in,sorry,I had to clean up the mess" Max said stepping out of the way for Megatron,When megatron got in,Max slammed the door shut,Megatron admired his work he did to the den " it's amazing what you did to the den, even after your loss" Megatron said as he looked around "oh well, thank you Megatron, but it wasnt your fault,or anyone's from the loss" max said "of course it is," Megatron replied, still looking around the area "no it isnt because I killed them,I killed sniper,my wife, and ate the egg" Max said.Megatron gasped and turned around,he slipped past max and opened the door and roared out "MAX IS A MURDERER-GAAAAAAAAAAH" Megatron said his last words,as he fell to the ground, with a pike though his body, from Max,everyone saw the death and killed max, though max haunts his neighborhood till this day.
Hope you enjoyed the story,I certaintly did
Sincerely and loving,The Alpha God known as Mando

Chapter 2
She turned to look at her shoulder partner, who creeped the heck out of Halo.
***
‘This Rex!? HES my partner? Uh, how rude. He’s like, 30 feet tall or something! And he’s creepy. I can’t participate in this introduction with HIM!’ She thought rudely.
***
“hi not really glad to see you but I have to apparently..” said Halo with fear and anger. “Humph.” The Rex sniffed at her. “Yuck,” she continued. “Anyway, can we get on with this introduction? I would like to stop facing at you right now.” “Fine…” the Rex whispered. “Oh so you DO talk eh? Silent type? Welp i don’t care. I’ll go first. I’m Halo and I’m really angry right now that I’m facing at you because your like 30 feet tall and creepy at the moment so, yeah. That’s how I am right now.” “Whatever..I’m Roy and I’m not happy because your here in MY class and your really annoying and rude so, that’s how I am.”
***
“Wow, we’re the same right now, I wouldn’t be this angry if I was shoulder partners with Frost.” “I wouldn’t be this angry if I was shoulder partners with Acura.” They both were angry at the moment. “I think we’d be good, angry friends eh? Well, I’m actually not this angry all the time. I’m a nice person.” “Yeah we’d be good friends. So, Halo,..I’m not really this mean either..I’m really helpful.” They apologized to each other. Soon the introduction would be over. “Everyone! Times up! Oh, it’s time for lunch. Better get going!” They got out their seats and grabbed their lunch bags. “Yuck..I wish I had my own lunch like you Roy…” “hey don’t worry, I can share if you like.”
***
“Really?” “Really.” Roy handed a ham sandwich with some other stuff to Halo. “Thanks, that was nice of you.” “Your welcome.” After lunch was recess. A minute later, Halo saw Dawn getting bullied by three other allosaurs. “Hey! Stop that! Gimme’ my lunch bag back!” Dawn roared. “Hah! Why should we? You never payed us OUR lunch! So YOUR our lunch!” “Hey! That’s my friend your bullying!” Halo roared. ‘Dang it! How am I gonna stop this fight? I can’t do anything, I’m literally WEAK!’ She thought.
***
“Eh? And what are you gonna do about it? Your weak haha!” “No, i-i” “your mumbling! How sad. Haha!” They tried to bully them both. But after that, they heard this big roar. “That defiantly doesn’t sound like any roar I’ve heard.” “Let’s get out of here!” They scattered off. “Thanks Frost, that was very nice.” “Your welcome.” Frost hugged Halo. ‘Aha! I’ve gotten part 2 done! Now for part 3..’ she thought.
