use your ears! otters make a quiet sound that almost passed as background ambiance. if you hear chattering while you're near a river, there could be an otter nearby. they're otherwise hard to find, sue to their rarity and small size.

Put a Rex skull skin on a flak or riot helmet (for maximum protection) and put it on your otter and it’s adorable

If you are on mobile you can tell if they are starving when they have a food icon above them. Idk about console or pc though.

Otter Tips:

1-If you sent them hunting fish, theres a chance the otter will harvest black pearls.

2-You can use otters as an incubator, place 3 otters in a triangular shape, place the fertilized egg in the center, and the egg will hatch.

3-You can place an otter on your shoulder, and it will provide cold resistance if you are in a cold area, or heat resistance if you are in a hot area.

4-You can also strengthen the cold/heat resistance if you upgrade the otter's melee damage stat.

5-If you killed them (even on purpose), that's all good (: they aren't even that cute anyway.

6-They can equip hats.

7-They only eat FISH MEAT (Even when tamed), otherwise they will starve and die.

I suggest you mainly look around the redwoods on the island, I have found 4 of them there. After you found one, you wanna try to wait until it is on land because it is easier that way. Next you feed it your raw fish. Prime fish works best. After a little bit of waiting you can feed it again. After a couple of fish, they should be yours!

Their food and health stats are very low, only eats Fish meat and lots of it. Kill piranhas in the area before sending it into the water as they will shred your furry little friend faster than you can say

"But it was wearing an ascendant riot helmet ffs!"

REMEMBER: Otters are Piscivorous meaning they ONLY eat FISH, ONLY FISH alright?

I found one in a really dangerouse area and let me say it was worth it I love otters sadly my little bouncy died to a raptor soon after tamed I forgot we were in a dangerous area. Poor little bouncy :( she bounced at my feet it was so cute :)

Tamed Otters do not eat regular meat, only fish meat. My otter was refusing to eat even though she had plenty of meat in her inventory and plenty of meat in a nearby trough. To remedy this, I tried multiple things; moving the trough closer, giving her more meat, and even force feeding her. She would not gain hunger with regular meat. The moment I got fish meat, she ate. I'm not sure if they can eat other types of meats like mutton though.

Get a snow owl and use its night vision to help find the otter it helps wonders!!

Grab an argy and put it in the mouth drag fish and the otter won’t run away
