Mobile player, I was doing dodo hunt (kill 250 dodos. Not as easy as it sounds) with my Griffin and my otter, and my otter FELL OFF MY SHOULDER and landed in water full of mega. Then I start getting messages, "your Harry otter (otter lvl 57) killed a megalodon (lvl 30)" I got at least 5 of these. Go OTTERS!

For new mobile edition you still need to feed it raw fish meat (prime is better) to tame by placing it in the last slot of your tool bar and walking over to the otter. Once you get close enough and see the message “drag a fish to feed” click on the fish meat in your tool bar to feed.

With the new version however this won’t tell you when the otter is hungry again, unless you actually drag a fish with you while doing this. You won’t be feeding the otter the dead fish, still the food in your inventory, but this will show the “wait till hungry again” message until it is hungry. dragging a dead fish isn’t necessary, the feed timers stated here still appear to be accurate for its feeding intervals, so I just pay attention to time rather than trying to swim around while dragging a fish. Remember the first feeding interval is longer!

Ok so I’ve been seeing people say that in mobile you only need to feed them fish meat

In ultimate survivors edition mobile (I don’t know if this was a glitch or not) I have to hold a fish and have fish meat in my last slot as well

Wearing them on shoulders also add resistance to heat by 100!

You can also craft a helmet and equip it on them to add to their cuteness and defense!

I hate encountering wild otters cause I always feel like I have to tame them otherwise they’ll die in nature

If you have an Argy, fly over the otter and pick it up with the argy's beak ('C' on pc). Land the argy and let the otter hang out in its beak while you bring fish over. I found I needed to drop the fish and pick it back up to target the otter. After having done this by following around a scampering otter with a dead fish pinwheeling wildly in my hands for 10 minutes the first time, I will never ever attempt it again without my argy.

To have it bring you silica pearls you tell it to attack any fish. Double tap F while looking at a fish.

You can give it hats I hope this helped

When it’s on your back and your in a hot or cold place they will make you worm or cool and if your just in a normal place they will still have the same affect (hope this was helpful)

I have three and I was buliding and they were following and a sarco snuck up on me and my otters went at him and killed him didn’t even go down in health at all..

If you really want one it takes about 4 minutes to tame one and it takes about 6 fish meat ^ for more to see please do

Can hold multiple artifacts can keep you warm and can keep you cold conform you white pearls and also just a really cute pet to keep around in a really easy to tame but hard to find but it is worth it. I suggest getting otter as soon as you can early game.

230 melee damage level 41. Otter gets 1-2 silica pearls per fish. After killing 4 fish the otter had 1 black pearl and 5 silica pearls

I normally find them at the river by the green obelisks

Taming and utilizing the otter

Chapter one: location

The otter in Ark ASA the Island map can be found in the northern part of the red woods, and major river ways. The spawn points make them hard to find, and since the otters are so tiny. There is a small spot in the swamp area where they spawn but recommend not going there since there could be kapros, sacros, and deinosuchus’s (if you have the mod). Theres also a small lake in the redwood towards the west where you can find them

Chapter two: taming

There’s two ways, an easy way and more difficult way. The easy way is you want to find it and you want to have an argentavis and catch it. It will be in your argie’s mouth and you would want to catch fish, preferably sabertooth salmon, (1.5x size is the best). Kill it and drag the body to the otter and feed it. The harder way is when you find it in the water. You just wanna kill fish and drag it towards it and feed it. It’s more difficult because you could lose sight of the otter, or it could die.

Chapter 3: Utilizes

One major utility is that it could regulate your body temperature. When you pick it up on your shoulder, it gives you heat and cold resistances. This could help you with longer expeditions and the north of the island. You can get better resistance if you increase their melee damage. Another utility is that it could hold more than one artifact at a time, unlike you and any other. You can put hats on it, which makes it look even cuter than it already is. Hopes this helps!!

The islands jerboa,only it is an omivore,so cute I'll die soon and for some reason People seem to hav read over the fact it can get pearls and sometimes black pearls.

Otters are one of the most useful creatures in the game. I’m actually not exaggerating. Either it’s intentional or a bug, but the otter can carry MULTIPLE artifacts. This means, if you are careful enough, you can bring an otter, filled to the brim with artifacts, to an obelisk, allowing you to get a lot of blueprints, but best of all, tons of soothing balm. This means you can make SOOTHING BALM literally EXPENDABLE. Now you won’t ever have to worry about taming creatures!

P.S: They also keep you really warm. With hide armor you can enter the frozen plains.

Make sure to keep this creature on the ground when travelling in mobile cause they fall down automatically when you leave the game and enter again. Hope this hepled
