Taming and utilizing the otter
Chapter one: location
The otter in Ark ASA the Island map can be found in the northern part of the red woods, and major river ways. The spawn points make them hard to find, and since the otters are so tiny. There is a small spot in the swamp area where they spawn but recommend not going there since there could be kapros, sacros, and deinosuchus’s (if you have the mod). Theres also a small lake in the redwood towards the west where you can find them
Chapter two: taming
There’s two ways, an easy way and more difficult way. The easy way is you want to find it and you want to have an argentavis and catch it. It will be in your argie’s mouth and you would want to catch fish, preferably sabertooth salmon, (1.5x size is the best). Kill it and drag the body to the otter and feed it. The harder way is when you find it in the water. You just wanna kill fish and drag it towards it and feed it. It’s more difficult because you could lose sight of the otter, or it could die.
Chapter 3: Utilizes
One major utility is that it could regulate your body temperature. When you pick it up on your shoulder, it gives you heat and cold resistances. This could help you with longer expeditions and the north of the island. You can get better resistance if you increase their melee damage. Another utility is that it could hold more than one artifact at a time, unlike you and any other. You can put hats on it, which makes it look even cuter than it already is. Hopes this helps!!

More Otter Taming & KO Tips
Otters are wonderful companions, whether holding artifacts for you, or regulating your temperature, so here’s a guide to help you tame one.
1. Otters are found in most of the rivers on the island, so I recommend just following rivers until you spot one. Sometimes they can blend in with the fish, so take it slow, so you don’t miss one.
2. When you find one, it can be useful to trap it, because they tend to move around a LOT. Either way, you need to kill fish to feed it. The fish have a number next to their name like 1x or 2.3x or .5x. This correlates with the size of it, the higher the number, the bigger the fish. The highest number or biggest fish gives the most taming progress, so go for those. In addition, the type of fish matters. Sabertooth salmon give more progress than coelacanth which is better than piranha.
3. Once you kill the fish, you need to drag it. Then go to the otter. While holding the dead fish and looking at the otter, it will let you feed it to the otter. Repeat this until the tame is finished

Use a snow owls night vision and fly across over the top of a river or lake you should find one pretty quick
Use a pteranodon to place it into a trap so it doesn’t move around. Then, kill fish and drag their bodies over to feed the otter. Remember: Do not harvest the fish’s dead bodies, drag it over once they are dead. The otter spawns in most rivers if there are otters on that map. These guys are furry, cuddly, and useful. They can store items for you with a 50% weight deduction on your shoulder and keeps you insulated in extreme temperatures.
Use an Argentavis' C-attack to pick the otter up and hold it in its beak. This makes it so that you can keep the otter in one place and don't have to keep track of it while getting fish. It also makes feeding the otter larger fish much easier because the character view isn't blocking access to the otter's "feed fish to tame" prompt.

These little guys are so much easier to tame in mobile, but harder to find. You still need to kill a megipirahna, but you don’t need to grab its corpse to feed the otter. After harvesting its meat you can easily walk up to it and feed it until it’s tamed. It doesn’t run away in mobile, and I’m sure you can use any fish meat.
