If you want to find one on ark mobile here’s my guide

His is the list of stuff you need

Pteradon

A box somewhere for storage

Here’s what you do you start by placing the otter box then you find an otter with is the hardest part then use your pteradon to pick up the otter and bring it to the box then all you have to do is drag fish in and voila

Very easy tame and super useful early game. They give you heaps of insulation at base and if you level up melee it works even better. Second best shoulder mount of all time (that I’ve tamed) first goes to compy, naturally

Guys no joke this thing can attack you be aware of this

Guys this is for mobile players I am playing on a single player 2.25

And the otter can't hold on to artifact like in normal pc ark I spent hours dying in the swamp for it and found out the hard way so please don't make the mistake

On mobile it’s a passive tame with any fish meat

They do not hold infinite artifacts on mobile, unfortunately

It took a hot second to find mine, but my recommendation is to look in the red woods (on the island) and make sure you have the fish on hand. Good luck.

Otters are just gods among ark nothing truly wants to kill em we all know that they are just too cute

Everyone mentions that they regulate your heat. I want to give you an idea how much.

Are you sick and tired of always changing your armor depending on temperatures where you’re at on the map? Well look no further! I recommend ascendant ghillie and one of these bad boys (slaps the otter on its butt) around your neck!

No, but all jokes aside, it’s literally the only thing I wear. I completed all cave runs with this combo. The coldest place on the map I’ve found is at the bottom of the ice cave. At -22° I wasn’t even cold because of the otter. And the hottest temps on Carno island and the lava cave, he’s kept me cool.

Last night I landed on a rock to try and tame a archelon. Accidentally tossed the otter off and he went through the rock to the bottom (250m) of the ocean. After I finally got everything prepped to go down and get him, he was on herbivore island 800m away. He swam back to my last base we were at. Not sure if they’re supposed to do that, but it’s pretty damn cool!

🪙TIP:If you can't find one of these cute otters you will have to look close to rivers mostly rivers near swamps but not in swamps here is coordinates to find one on the regular island wich is now the only map available for mobile!60.0°East 30.0°North on a gps simply Lat:60.0 Lon:30.0.If you get there be sure you are familiar with minecraf oxelotle sounds they are similar to minecraft oxelotle sounds and they should spawn near or in those two ponds you will also find alot of cybertoothfish too if you don't enough have raw fish meat!

On mobile u can kill any fish harvest it’s meet and passive tame the otter.on other u have to kill a saber tooth or piranha and drag it’s body to the otter to make it eat it and tame it that way.but yeah

Otters can hold more than 1 of the same artifact in their inventory. Great for artifact runs.

Excellent for warmth in the mountains! Raise the attack for better insulation

Once I found an otter on the beach but it was eaten by a mega piranha

you can find these cute little fella's at the beaches (they are mostly in the water)

I'm pretty sure that otters work like scarfs so they keep you warm. not sure if that's confirmed but it works for me

They spawn near the red woods rivers and lakes but that’s for mobile and they tame faster with raw prim fish that’s mobile also

don't forget to give it a helmet, it's very weak!! 🥺

I recently found out that they are the best tame in the game.

Use 1: Keep you warmer when holding

Use 2: LIVING INCUBATOR

Use 3: being the 2nd cutest thing in the game (1 is ferox, in my opinion).

Use 4: Can wear hats to make it even cuter, AND, have armor.
