Utility Tips

What is a moschops used for? moschops battling strategies in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
how to tame and use moschops:
step 1: locate the moschops
step 2: feed it it's desired food
step 3: get angry because it wants cooked prime
step 4: exit and re-enter ark
step 5: hop back on and hope it wants mejo/tintoberries
repeat steps 3-5 if needed
step 6: tame the moschops
now you have a big iguana sitting around.
after taming, use it to kill members of its own against will
or maybe even trap multiple females to exploit their ability to create superior kibble with their eggs
or just use it as a fiber/berry gatherer
don't forget about those harvesting levels by the way. level in something, take your little buddy with you, and harvest, trust me it can be worth it
recommended stats to level: weight, health, melee (if being used to fight)
brought to you by some guy
Best starting dino to tame. Why?
1. You can tame it easily even on your first day.
(You can just look for another Moschop if you don't have the taming food it wants)
2. You can ride it without a saddle.
3. You can use it to gather berries especially Narco Berries for future tames.
4. Good at gathering fibers. You don't need to waste skill points and materials for a sickle.
5. It can also gather thatch and minimal wood.
6. It has specialty skill point stat for bonus gathering % like prime meats, etc.
7. Decent weight, health, stamina and damage.
8. Good for killing Dodos, Dilos and Turtles for their meats and hides.
9. Poop generator for your starter plots.
Imagine having all those on Day 1.

Moschops are one of the best ways to collect berries early to mid-game, well at least I think so. When you tame them you should upgrade weight, speed, and stamina, if you are using them for harvesting. Easy to tame since they are passive. Some require things like rare flowers. If you want to tame one that needs rare flowers or something like that, then check back next time you play because their food changes over time. And one final thing, on mobile you can't ride them. I played on console then I got mobile, tamed one, then realized it was pretty much useless for me. But still one of the best early tames and I would recommend taming one if you are just starting out. You can place these in front of trees or bushes in your base, and it will collect wood and thatch, or fiber and berries, then after the trees or bushes respawn, it will collect wood and thatch or fiber and berries again, until it starts to get encumbered and stop. Then, you can collect your resources from its inventory, and it will start automatically collecting again.
Moschops cannot be ridden on mobile. However, this doesn’t make it useless since it can still harvest loads of stuff. Whistle it to follow you, lead it to the thing you want harvested and then whistle it to stop. Then it’ll harvest whatever is in front of it.
Hope this was useful info.
The single best early tame! You could basically get them as soon as you leave the character creation. With a little bit of luck berries will be enough to tame one up. Get some mushroms and flowers in the swamp if you want to increase your chances. Less than 5min of work and you got yourself a survivable, decently hard hitting and quick enough mount that doesnt require a sadle. As the cherry on top it can gather every plant and dino recource there is. Use it to get your narcotic production started which is going to xp boost you up to crossbow levels in no time from where you can comfortable tame whatever you like. It is the ultimate kickstarter for your playthrough.
This is by far the best gatherer of organic polymer. Carry the moschops to a frozen island with penguins. Put it on follow. Create a whisle group and whisle with the (Xbox) Lb down d-pad while looking at a corpse. It will collect the penguin corpse. Do not do this whisle in your base.
When sending these guys out to gather, go to herbivore island (the one in the southeast where you must use an Ichthyosaurus or a raft and not the one near the red obelisk) or you run the risk of them dieting to predators. Believe me, I currently have one named Rusty (for his color pattern), and he’s got 1216 health currently. He was attacked by a Spino while he was innocently gathering berries for me one day, and he continued to gather from trees while attacked accidentally biting the Spino as he did so, doing about 200 damage each bite. This MASSIVE amount of damage was enough to scare away the Spino after about 5 or 6 bites, and then my scorpion chased it until it ran to the water for safety in an act of surrender. If you don’t have access to rafts or Ichthyosaurus (do the quest to tame one to get a saddle for it) then do your research on the island’s regions and then find a safe region so your Moschops can gather in peace. These tames are excellent in early game for mass harvesting nacro berries in preparation for tranquilizer arrows, although sometimes they can eat alot of what they harvest. Best for using to harvest resources around your base, they're slow and not very good for scouting.
Level up weight, it pays off because they're too efficient harvesters for their own good. And have a plan for all the hordes of fiber they can harvest, my chests were quickly filled with fiber!
