Taming & KO Tips

How do I tame a mesopithecus? Tips and strategies on taming and knocking out a mesopithecus.
At first these guys are passive and tame and can be given any type of berry. (Mejoberry is recommended) do not run up to its face. It will run away and it will keep running.(other monkeys near it will also run away too) simply crouch and feed it berries. Once tamed, they will love you forever.(they are a shoulder mount so put them on your shoulder and take them EVERYWHERE) they have a really cool ability to through poop at the enemy that is chasing or if it is your target. When it through the poop if it lands it will disable there ability to sprint for a little while.( and will take small amounts of dmg too while the poop is on them). I hope you found this guide helpful.
Always stay crouched while taming. And never get close enough to touch it. While following the monkey, if the monkey ever stops, its very likely It will turn and start to walk in a different direction. So be aware that it might walk in your direction. Hope this helps : )
This creature may seem frail and weak but once you tame it you will release that it has access to the most powerful weapon on ark THE POOP CANNON
If you sneak up behind it, give it a mejoberry, then back straight up... over and over again... you’ll tame one. Took me forever to realize that.
I feed one of these things a single dodo kibble (on mobile) and it tamed instantly without any other factors just a heads up for those of you who don't like wasting time
The mesopithecus is able to open doors when there locked when attacking the door or trying to escape from the inside out
These guys are legit pigeons I fed one and 30 more came.
You can place helmets on it too. I place my mining helmet on my monkey and use it as a source of light at my base. But you cannot see the light if the monkey is on your shoulder and your looking in first person. You can see the light in the orbital camera, While riding on another Dino in 3rd person, and when the monkey is on another persons sholder or on the ground. Hopes this comes in handy : )
I went looking out for a chalicotherium, came back with a mesopithicus, named it George, gave it a hide hat, now we can take on the world.
EASIEST WAY TO TAME ON MOBILE!
- Make pen or roofless structure
- Hop on a flying tame that can carry a meso
- Find meso
- Pick up meso
- Take the meso back to your base and drop it in pen
- Make dodo egg kibble
- Put kibble in hot bar
- Crouch and sneak into the pen
- Go behind it and feed it the kibble
- Then name your new monkey friend!
Turn around and walk backward about ten feet every time you feed it berries then turn back around and see which way it turns and then sneak around it, feed it berries, repeat EASY TAME (by the way remain crouched the whole time and have LOTS OF PATIENCE!!!)
Fun fact: the first mesopithecus i saw was eaten by a baryonix... all that aside
these little guys arent that hard to tame
just crouch andget behind one feed it berries and boom!
Lil monke
FYI: Dont hurt the monkeys
Give berries.
Wait a bit.
Repeat.
Boom. You got a poop flinging cannon
Mobile Taming: Easy! Just don’t get to close! It’s probably one of the easiest things to tame! Mejoberries do great, but if you have Dodo kibble, then use that. They are handfed, so don’t get violent!
Domesticación móvil: fácil! No te acerques demasiado! Es probablemente una de las domar! Las mejoberries son excelentes, pero si tienes croquetas Dodo, úsalas. Están alimentados a Mano, así que no te pongas violento!
There is a bug while taming these guys. Sometimes after the first one or two berries, it’s hunger will stop going down, and it’s health will start draining. If this happens the tame is a lost cause. My theory is that somehow the coding for the hunger and health stats got mixed up and the health drains instead of hunger. Hope this helps to not waste your time!
Can find them in the beaches! You can not knock them out. You need to follow behind it and feed it kibble or berrys
Are mejoberries the best taming berries?
If you are going to tame these they eat berries (obviously cuz it’s a monkey)
but you need to crouch and every time you feed it you need to quickly turn around and walk away for a bit or the monkey will get scared and run away. Hope this helps
If you're in an area where they spawn and are having trouble locating one, start killing all other dinos in the same area, the game will eventually spawn your desired target.
I normally leave the area for a short time to allow new spawns, once you have killed everything off.
I would assume this will work for any Dino spawn you were looking for.
Really, their taming strategy is similar to their bigger counterparts, Gigantopithicus. All you have is: Step 1: Get a mejoberry plant, and get it to produce max berries. Step 2: Find a meso. They tend to hang around dangerous areas, so be careful. They enjoy hanging around beaches where there IS jungle behind. Step 3: Eliminate all danger in the area before starting. Step 4: Crouch and put the mejoberries in your hot bar. Now switch to the mejoberries. Step 5: Walk behind the meso, and feed it once. Walk backwards and see which way it turns. Whenever you feed it or it stops walking, walk backwards and see what direction it turns. Go behind it again. Step 5: Repeat step 4 until it's tamed. Step 6: Once it's tamed, if your base is really far away, put it on a rock, whistle stop, and go back home. Request your meso when you're there. If your base isn't that far away, and no danger is in your way, pick up your meso and whistle stop. Walk back home. Step 7: Name your meso, and I reccomend setting it on wander in your house. Step 8: Congrats! You tamed a meso! Tip: These guys drop human poop instead of small animal poop. 2nd Tip: They have an attack when they throw poop at creatures and/or people. Way to insult your friends and annoying creatures! Please ^ if this was helpful!
