Encountering Tips

How do I kill a megapithecus? megapithecus battling strategies in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
Megapithecus is the monkey like boss on ark the island, the center and valgureo this is second easiest boss in the island
Before entering the arena take your creatures out of their cryopods (if you use them) because you can't use cryopods in the fight. I found this out the hard way and almost lost all of my boss fighting Dino's. Fortunately if you need to escape the fight once it's started you can leave the game and rejoin and it will place you and your tames at the obelisk (doesn't give summon items back).
Instead of trash force tame tips why don’t I give you some useful info that you can put into practice.
On official smalltribes I went in with 3 rexes one yuty and a deinonychus. I failed. I didn’t fall down the hole or anything, I simply didn’t have enough firepower.
Forget rexes, unless you want them to tank the boss. The Dino you need for bosses is the deinonychus. As fake as it sounds you can beat it on official with even ONE deinonychus. The reason it can destroy the boss and basically any other boss is because they are the only Dino in the game that does bleed damage to bosses. Bring multiple deinonychus, have some hiding away from the action as a backup because if you bring one and it dies then you lose. I am going to be fighting it again but this time with a pack of deinonychus and 2 stegos (mateboosted) to tank while I do the killing. Search it up on YouTube, Rex’s aren’t the way anymore it’s deinonychus, those feathery raptors, on valguero and fjordur. Also you can easily get artifacts you need for gamma in crystal isles, you legit just need 3 artifacts and you are in. Make sure your deinonychus is a very high level and give it very good health and Stam if you like. Good luck boys.
You can’t bring gigas into boss fights. Or cryropod them you can’t uncryro dinos the the guardian sanctuary.
I tried fighting gamma with a velo once... Lets say my velo went to a better place. Rip command spines
Not sure how well they’re gonna work with other bosses as I did megapithecus before broodmother, and ofc this is very reliant on what map you’re on but I did it with 19 shadowmanes and a pig (my dumb self had too many manes and my yuty got left behind) and it was a breeze. Shadowmanes get a pack buff and thornmail poison, they’re amazing in fights. Possibly better than rexes?
If you are dumb enough to force tame one of these, you deserve to get stuck
Ever boss on this should have a photo
To kill him safely you need an Assault Rifle/Pumpa Shotgun/Tech Rifle to be able to maintain your distance when shooting. How to maintain distance is quite easy, you only need to run from one corner of the arena to another and avoid stone throwing attacks.
conclusion: position your character in the corner of the arena while shooting if he is close then run to the other corner of the arena then do this repeatedly
On mobile kill it with a op compound bow and a op pump action shotgun.....
Megapitthecus When being gamma has half the health of the
Broodmother gamma.
You know right that giga=megax1000. So use gigantopethicus! (I’m serious they actually work effectively)
Really easy boss, I recommend as your first boss fight if you haven't done a boss yet, stay mounted, bring rexs, don't even need to be high level even on alpha. Good raptors can kill gamma. Rexs and yutys recommended.
I recently beat alpha brood mother so now I'm doing alpha monkey, is this easier or harder than brood mother?
17 good Rexes and a yuty will take down alpha with ease
Use a tusk to get the brute artifact, get the pack on foot, and get the devoured with a deinonychus or thylacoleo or rock drake or sm. That is all the artifacts ez. Then take one yuty, two daedons, and all the rest deinonychus. Deinonychus gets pack buff and does bleeding damage, and receives extra energy from yuty roar (I think). You could also throw a pack of allos in Bc they also do bleeding damage and have pack buffs. I went in with a yuty, two pigs, a rex, and the rest deinonychus for the easiest one. I was nervous at first, but they had that thing down in a matter of seconds, I didn’t even have to do anything! We only lost one deinonychus, and everyone else got back safe, though I might mention that everyone was over level 100 except for the pigs who were both around level 60.
Half the health of the broodmother. I.e. it dies twice as fast. Don’t overthink it. 19 rexes and a yuty. Level the rexes as you should and you’ll be completely fine.
Took 10 kentros, 6 allos, a yuty and a daeadon to fight the monke and I didn't do any crazy breeding or mutation stuff to the tames. Allos were 10k-15k hp with over 400% atk, kentros 14k-20k hp with over 300% atk and we were easily winning... then I died cuz I didn't bring fur armor to the fight 🤦 overlooked how cold the arena is haha
I struggled to find exactly what would be needed to fight the Alpha so I decided to do an experiment run with tames I didn't really care about. I had 18 rexes, 100% imprinted and with 29k health and 1k melee without any levels. Leveled their melee to about 1.4k then got bored, I also didn't make sadles, cuz test run. I brought a yuti with 10k stam and a pig with 80k food. In the end we got the boss to about 1/5th health before being wiped out. Pig made literally no difference. And definitely do not do it without sadles. I'm gonna get 50k health and 2k melee on my rexes and try again, next time with sadles with 60 armor and no pig. Should be able to beat it with some casualties then
Don’t get hit by the rock on alpha 😭
