Taming & KO Tips

How do I tame a mantis? Tips and strategies on taming and knocking out a mantis.
Pick it up with a wyvern or an argy and drop it in water, fly far away enough for it to drop agro and and swim up to it but make sure to swim underwater or it will agro and not allow you to feed it
When breeding eats spoiled meat
Don't bother with guillie armor or bug repellent. You don't need it.
Pick it up with a compatible flyer and drop it in deep water.
You need a deathworm horn to passive tame it and hey presto!
I would highly suggest taking the mantis you want to tame to the dragon arena out in the desert using a wyvern/quetz. The area is enclosed and allows you to tame the mantis without wild disturbances.
Build a small trap that leads down to the one by one. Have the mantis walk ( lag ) itself in. Then you will be able to feed it through the wall. No need for ghilie or repellent
When taming with rhino horns the interval is lower than stated at the moment. A 90 with rhino horns takes 45 seconds between feedings after the first. Wait too long and you'll lose progress.
Ragnarok: Get a dino that mantis don't become aggroed (i did with a wyvern), ghillie suit (not needed but it helps) and bug repellant, go to monster island (because its filled with bugs and you will not be easily aggroed by other dinos), give it a horn and mount the dino again and follow the mantis with him as nothing will target you. Easy tame!
You can use something to pick it up and put it into the water, use a ghillie suit and go underneath it with the horns you need to tame it :)))
Grab with a crab for easy tame
For those of you who want to set a timer: The interval between feeding is exactly 3:40 for wooly horns.
Build a cage 2x2x2 with a ramp to lead it into. Once it falls in, go far away and come back to reset aggression. Then you don't when have to sneak up on it, you can tame it through the wall or a small window. Easy.
So apparently the babies like to stay in kangaroo pouches well up to like 25% so far. That's two good imprints I think (i missed a few hours to know that for sure but I think I'm right)
Sinoms and mana make this the easiest as you can tame. Armor up fly up and press x to parachute down and land on it and feed fly away. Can even do it with out repellent use mana to clear area. Easy pickings.
Pick it up with wyvern go over water and jump off and tame
Dont knock it out remember passive tame.
You can drop these in the water in Ragnarok and they won't agro, you can just swim up behind it and feed it a deathworm horn/ Wooly Rhino Horn!
Trapping them in a building never worked for me. Even when not aggro i could not feed it. If taming in the desert use a flying combat mount. Use bug spray on the mount and yourself so you can land, dismount, feed and fly off clearing nearby dinos until next feed. This stops it aggroing on your mount and helps you avoid chasing it around on foot losing food/water
Be careful and step away after feeding if you are on official, the lag makes it hard and sometimes they randomly aggro despite having all counter measures on. Good luck!!
(Old school) apply bug repellent and land on mantis head pinning it down, can feed from there. New way simply land skiff and it will continue to walk but never move, can tame out mantis easily, remember apply bug repellent before getting out the drivers seat. (Wear ghillie) also remember bug repellent and cactus broth stack, for extra safety.
For easy tame make a 1x1 about 4 high with metal walls and 1 metal foundation. Make the bottom 1x1 using metal door frames and a door on each. use wyvern to pick one up and drop it on top it's take a bit of practise but eventually the mantis will fall to bottom. Apply big repellant and have full gillie on. You can feed the horns through the door. Its might even work with normal walls at bottom never tried it. Also you could try adding ramps on all 4 sides from top to bottom sometimes you can kite it up into middle. This is by far safest way to do it without anything else bothering you.
