Where do they spawn on lost island? Sky arrow if spawn deep in the desert

Be warned that they have a fairly long range pounce, and do good damage. Don't fight these unless you're truly prepared.

I got jumpscared by one of the mantis and I lost my wyvern I was crying

You can carry a mantis with anything aslong as you have a grapple, the grapple wont cut and the mantis will fly with you. Usefull for taking a mantis from an enemy element vien.

Using a deinonychus will get you a really good amount of organic polymer from these guys. This is whay I do in asgard in Fjordur.

One day I was wandering in the desert when I saw one of these things for the first time. I thought they would be easy to kill. I took my fabricated pistol and shot slowly at the mantis, thinking I was invincible. (I was such a noob at that time) then suddenly out of nowhere it pounced on my face ripping me to shreds. I don’t know if it’s happened to anyone else but when in the lava wyvern trench on lost island watch out for mantis as well as wyverns because I've had a few jump out at me, sure it’s not the most deadly thing in the world when it’s wild but it can give you a bit of a jump scare when it jumps at you from out of nowhere. (This is more for when your on a mount with decent health and speed like a maewing or a mana)

There also found in the valconoe region underneath in the lava caverns. Why? Idk but it is what it is
