So, about the name. It's Norse and the <<garmr>> is the name of the hound that was guarding the Helhaim. Mana in did means moon ( Mani, the god of the moon, son of Thor, one of the two persons that could hold mjonir, Anyway). I read a tip about a hound name managarmr that jump on the moon and ate it. A: it wasn't a hound, it was a wolf (a vargr actually, a race of gigantic wolves, sons of Fenrir). B: his name was Hati, he was son of Fenrir and he ate the moon at the Ragnarok (a huge battle between gods and Loki's army).
