Taming & KO Tips

How do I tame a karkinos? Tips and strategies on taming and knocking out a karkinos.
I just figured out that rocket launchers deal torpor to the karkinos, much like the rock golems, but they die a bit more quicker since they don't have much health and rocket launchers deal a lot of damage.
Your crab is out of HP, and there is no annimal corpses to bring? Just put 10+ sleeping bags not far from the trap and let Karkinos kill you enough times to regain HP (as I calculated - 300 HP per death)
This works only when Kark is not fleeing. Otherwise you need to wait until torpor goes down and crab starts to attack. But this worth it. You won't lose the crab you want!
Watch YouTube video from captain fatdog karkinos trap and use this to tame them. I struggled so many times and then I realised you can't do it going up a hill. Flat surface and hitting it in the head are the two main problems but as soon as I had got it right it was so easy.
Up for noobs
On PVE I noticed knocking out with cannon no longer effects the taming effectiveness, so if your are trying to tame make sure to use cannon
1 shot from a cannon and it's lights out Mr Crabs
Hey guys, Mana here, Syntac has a good Karkinos trap, here is what you need:
-triangle foundations 3x (metal works best)
-door frames 4x (metal again)
-large bear trap 1x
-signboard (yes, metal)
-catapult
-boulders (depends on the karki’s level)
OPTIONAL (but recommended):
-pillars 1-3 (wood or above, stone recommended)
-ceiling; at least 1 (wood or above)
-ladders (however many pillars you brought)
To make the trap, you need to:
1: place a triangle foundation down
2: place the other two so they are in a trapezoid shape
3: place the doorframes so they are going out the longer side of the trapezoid
4: place the bear trap
5: place catapult
6: lure the karki into the trap (make sure you don’t get grabbed)
7: when the karki gets trapped, run behind it and place your metal signboard
8: make sure your hitting the karki on its shell (the spot behind its head) to do torpor, anywhere else will only do damage
If your missing a lot and its health is low (you can check with magnifying glass), kill a creature (don’t harvest it), drag it to the karki, and let it eat the corpse, this will heal it.
OPTIONAL STEPS (recommended):
Before you place catapult (does not affect steps 6 and 7):
1: place you pillars in a tower
2: place a ceiling on top (or more if needed)
3: place catapult on top
4: place ladders to get up
Reason why to do this:
If you tower up, if the karki moves or starts torpor running, it’s shell (the part you have to hit to do torpor) gets hard to hit, so with the height advantage, it is easier to hit.
That’s all, hopefully this will help anyone trying to take a karkinos. :)

teachers game too has a good video for a trap with metal triangle roofs that i use religiously on rag asa
Z fruit is useful might just be luck but every time I've been grabbed and tossed a fruit I was dropped immediately by the wild ones
Due to the new AI Findpathing It's very hard to trap him, I tame it with a Yi Ling with sap, Slowing it down and trap it between stone gates.
Feed the babies spoiled meat... works great. Normally raw meat but these won't eat it, but spoiled meat did the trick for me
Normal creatures require “light torpor” to knock out and tame. But with the karkinos, astrocetus, rock golem and titanosaur require “raid torpor.” Raid torpor is dealt by cannons or catapults.

with the new DLC and the net gun i’ve found that you can net a crab and that will give you time to place a catapult and trap for it. or you can place a catapult lure it infront then net it, it should give you enough time to KO it
ASA: Cannon ball to head, no effectiveness loss from the hit, single hit KO on a 150 (mine was on Aberration). Just have to time it right, make sure your cannon is properly aimed, and maybe a silent prayer. Spoiled meat is effective for the game if you don't have kibble, although kibble is probably the best idea.
You can knock these out using catapults. HOWEVER, you have to make sure you hit their back, and not their legs, or you will only deal damage, without any torpor.
Trapping it in a simple trap made out of stone double door frames usually helps alot. It will enable you to shoot it with a catapult more easily :)
These things are a must have on Aberration. They'll help you get down to the radiation zone to allow you to get better creatures such as rock drakes. However, they're pretty slow without movement speed upgrades :/
You need Exceptional Kibble since the new kibble system.
Had more luck with the catapult but instead of spacing shots out just violently shot it with the boulders (body) until knocked out. Spacing it out resulted in dead Dino after 50 boulders. Spamming resulted in 16 boulders and knocked out.
I talked to a dev he said I should try to tame it like a rock golem he suggested catapults
Make sure you know where your Larkin is is before you set up your trap. Do not lead them to your trap on foot. Kill EVERYTHING in the area before leading them over. Place down bed or sleeping bag. These tips will save you a lot of stress
When using the catapult stick something on your screen where your crosshairs would normally be ( so dead centre of screen)
Will help tremendously when for aiming the thing
