Cannons work better for the high level tames. I used 1 cannon ball to knock out a lvl 135 and it barely had any health left. Wasn't too difficult of a tame after that.

killed an alpha with my x-allo and only lost 1-2k health, compared to the allo’s over 20k health total. These things are pretty easy to kill if you have a good creature, and are an amazing source of polymer and chitin.

Unbelievable but u can actually knock them out with a slingshot, it does roughly 10 torpor so it'd take like 500 shots and it does 20 damage per hit, early game tame technically

Beware of the front as they do a smash attack with their claws. They also have a pick up move which can pick up small dinos.

Only took my whole hot bar filled with slingshots and about 1200 stone but that lvl 6 is out cold now!

What you will need:

ok so this is kind of complicated because I don’t know the trap by heart just go to a captain fatdog tutorial on YT and you should get the trap, otherwise don’t bring tranqs bring a catapult and boulders, a 150 take about sixteen of them

How to tame:

The karkinos is kind like of like a rock elemental except you want to hit it in the back right on top of its shell because if you don’t it will take damage and not torpor. Once knocked out feed exceptional kibble or spoiled meat are the two best

The boulders in ark have very bad hit tracking. You can still tame the karkinos with it however you just have be very patient and have a lot of them. A snow owl is also highly recommended so you can heal your crab when it inevitably gets super low. A magnifying glass is also essential to see if your hits are even doing torpor.

Always check its health because it can be surprisingly easy to kill them on accident. Let the death of my AMAZING crab learnt from.

I just got mine so basically make a stone dino gate way with door open and a large bear trap and lead into it and it will get stuck then place one stone dino gateway on its side then another one behind it make them close as possible and then make sure they all have reinforced doors then in between the gaps make a stone foundation and place a catapult and have your friend leading it in circles and hit it in its butt and eventually It will get bloody so make your friends or dino get eaten for karkinos to heal and then fire a boulder and it should get knocked out they like spoiled meat and their torpor takes while to drain

Note if the if it’s too low of a level knocking it out probably will kill it if it’s any lower than level 20 there’s a good chance you’re gonna kill it.

The Karkinos can NOT be picked up by a Quetzal. I tried 20 times on Valguero. It doesn't work. Either that or I'm doing something wrong

Tame stego and put on aggressive then pick it up with a karkino enjoy your sword

Don't follow into the water, don't use tranqs and don't hit its legs with a catapult

Best method to knock it out but a little bit expensive for low level players is too Have 2 parasaurtheriums one with a ballista turret equipped with chain bolas and one with a trebuchet bring sweet vegetable cake in case of emergency. Get on one chain Bola the karkinos get on the other move to the front of the karkinos with the trebuchet facing the front of the ,arkinos and fire you may have to bola it more then once if its a higher level good luck survivers!

Um just tell your dinosaurs to follow you and run if your an early player

This thing can hold dodis so you can have to tribe mates in your claws auto harvesting stones as you walk around one your crab, this also keeps the team safe so happy harvesting ;)

Made a raft with crab trap and a catapult at the end. Tamed max level like that. Sometimes u can just drive over them to trap them. Super easy and mobile. Amount for the body. Anything else will kill it. U know your doing it right when they do a “cartoonish” pop you on the head animation

You can use with a anky for easy metal

On PS4

If you tap the inventory key as fast as you can while airborn on your karkinos, it will glide almost forever.

Over long distances it'll almost be faster than a rock drake as it keeps on building up speed using this trick.

I was happily walking along the shoreline, it was a warm and sunny day, and I was feeling good about my new raptor tame. Suddenly, my tribemate comes running out of the blue and then he gets smushed by giant Mr.Crabs. Please be careful, especially when around streams and water. Like mentioned earlier, they will SMUSH YOU WITH ONE SMACK OF THEIR CLAWS.
