Utility Tips

What is a iguanodon used for? iguanodon battling strategies in ARK: Survival Evolved.
A must tame, why?
It's easy. Bola, tranq arrows and berries.
Best travel mount: Unlimited stamina and you can improve movement speed. Pump 10 levels into speed and this thing zooms everywhere!
Fairly tanky: It can take a beating meaning better survival chance but also good for taming aggressive creatures.
You can shoot while riding: Making taming safer and easier. Anything tries to run away they have no chance.
Berry Gathering: Good for taming or just eating.
Seeding: Good for starting a small farm of your choice.
They can fight back, fending off Dilos, raptors, even Baryonx and Sarcos.
They can jump: Good for clearing obsticals but also getting on high rocks as a vantage point to tranq out creatures such as Carnos.
They're fast swimmers: Not something you want to take in the ocean but fast enough to cross small lakes and rivers and fast enough to outrun Jellyfish. Mine can outswim a Megeladon lol.
Kibble: They're eggs make decwnt kibble which in turn can help tame decent mounts.
Basically they're awesome!
Started on a new server and went through the trike tame to start the utility farming. Next day got an iguanadon and explored how it is used and what it can do. 5 minutes later I retired the trike to the egg farm.
The iguanadon is a great ground transportation, berry farming, small Dino killing, maneuverable and an overall great Dino. Jump off a cliff, no damage. Need to chase something to tranquil it, pull out your weapon and shoot while you ride. IMO level weight and speed and you've got a great utility ride!
Honestly, I’ll said it before and I’ll say it again, this guy is a parasaur on steroids. Whenever I got out on a resource run I take my iguanadon, Richard, with me because his weight and stamina is insane. He can carry stacks on stacks of stone and wood, and his stamina allows me to get away quickly if a predator agros on me. I recommend upgrading weight, stamina, and movement speed. Seriously one of my favorite early game tames.
Here are reasons that this is an awesome travel Dino.
-1: this thing is good at collecting berries to eat/for taming herbivores.
-2: the iguanodon has infinite stamina when running on four legs.
-3: the iguanodon has very high weight.
-4: the iguanodon can battle anything that is below a raptor in attack.
✌️PEACE OUT CUBSCOUTS✌️
Really really early in the game, as a brand new noob, I discovered a level 23 iguanodon and looked it up here. The reviews were so good that I immediately resumed the game and beat the snot out of it until it fell asleep, then tamed it with mejoberries. Now it’s my personal rank, named “Iggy.” Nothing has stopped it yet- except a gang of compys and a few giant ants. But the game crashed and when I reloaded it I had iggy back.
Utility Roles for Iguanodon:
Mount. One of the best mounts in the game. On all fours the have infinite stamina! (level Movement Speed to cover more distance)
Combatant. Due to their infinite stamina, you can use them for a combat mount and make a quick escape if you get low on health. (level Health and Melee damage)
Harvester. You can use them to harvest a lot of berries. They have less weight than the Parasaur but their infinite stamina makes up for it (level weight, Melee Damage, and Movement Speed)
My name is ShinyChimchar01 and if you like my tip, I've done similar on Trike, Raptor, Carbonemys, Lystro, Para, and Moschops. Next one will be on Sarco
A long long time ago my parasaur Jar Jar died by a raptor, and he was my main gatherer and terrestrial travel companion. But then I met RICHARD, the concerningly orange iguanadon. I love him and he’s my favorite tame, even to this day. Trust me when I say if you upgrade their health, movement speed, and melee you’ll have a great battle animal for early game (but I still use Richard late game and he does great :) ).
1. Iguanodons are fast.
2. They are easy tames.
3. Loses no stam when on all fours.
4. Jumps.
I have no idea why no one talks about their amazing ability to gather berries. If you want rockarrots, or a ton of berries, get the iguanodon. It takes out the bush in 1 swipe, and gives twice the berries you would possibly get with a parasaur. Another thing is, on all fours they outrun direwolves. That is good for leading a wild direwolf into another place. Iguanodons have the ability to change colors a bit at night. I have posted mutiple posts about Iguanodons color changing. Yet no one has posted it yet. I HAD an Iguanodon, but I had to kill it due to a dire wolf. That attempt ended terribly. The direwolf had taken damage because my Iguanodon nearly killed it! So I had to kill it sadly... But Iguanodons color change! She was all brown, and at night changed to blue. Another Iguanodon I saw was orange, but changed to a demon red.... Get an iguanodon. I really recommend it. They just may be a bit hard to find at first.
Single player uses:
1. Early game jack of trades: If you're lucky enough to find a high level you'll have a decent early game mount, iguanodon is basically just a better Parasaur aside from the paras ability to detect danger.
2. Travel mount: Iguanodon is very fast and literally has infinite stamina.
3. Taming mount: You can also use weapons while riding it, and it jumps fairly high.
