Crouch and slowly walk near it the pet it when it says you can just be careful they startle easy.

Crouch when approching these in the wild then you will be able to pet it everytime so long as the alpha is not to near to them.

For EASY taming trap one in a wooden cage and crouch

Throw honey from your hot bar to lure one into the cage

first use a flyer trap it in a 2x2 box then get some ghillie pet it once try it and fail but if you do just go out of render it won’t be scared anymore once you come back

If there is a small Island,then put on it and it will try to swim but gives up and comes back relax easier to tame. Watch out for the tail when petting from behind. Lost so much of the progress of taming, took another 10 mins.

If you have a friend and an argentavis easily take these by picking up one which is not fleeing while your friend in a ghillie suit is a ways away. Fly over and hover low enough that they can pet them but not so low the hyaenodon touches the ground. Be sure the person on the ground is out of line of sight before you hover and then sneaks behind the hyaenodon to pet. They don't have to move between petting. If it spooks then drop it into an enclosure and move out of rendering distance. We were successful without ghillie suits but you have to be perfect at sneaking. Scaring them makes the time meter go down.

If you pick it up with a flyer to bring it back to your base for taming and you stop for stamina, it will sprint and run away as fast as possible

Build an 4x4 building with trapdoors an take the four structurs seperat closely the hyaenodon will sit in the trap door an cant move , and now u can pet it he cant move

If you decide to make a taming pen for hyaenadons, it NEEDS to be at least 2 walls high or else they will literally walk over any wall.

can someone tell me why I can't pet it ? I play ark on a ps5 I don't know why but when I was close enough the pet button didn't show up.

1. Pray to the ark god's you find one stuck somewhere.

2. Make sure you're close enough to see the pet timer and far enough away to not lose efficiency.

Make a 1x 1 stone box 4 high with a doorway at ground level and a hatch frame at first level. Then stick on your ghilli gear drop in a hyeanodon crouch and stop under the hatch frame and pet away. Once tamed break wall to release

I think they fixed the tame rate multiplier for hyenadons on Tuesday, took me 9 pets at 11.3% per pet and just under 5 minutes on a 5x tame server

If on a PVE sever and have honey to spare, make a pen out of Wooden gates with a ramp going up lead the pack in with the honey and wear ghille, becareful if more then 3 they will attack, but will only aggro if you scare the alpha one tamed one pick it up fly out of venda(to base) then continue to tame the rest till there is no alpha and can tame the highest level. Note you want to make the pen big enough so other creatures aren't close to be able to Argo the pack.
