I wasn't too interested in these, until I tamed my dog squad that is! Now Growl, Sniff, Cackle, Savage and my Direwolf, Alpha are the deadliest pack on the island! We've taken down a therizino without a single death! I haven't yet tested them against any carnivores except dilos but they can be brilliant fully recommend them! My pack of four hyaenodons and my Direwolf mount easily fight dangerous creatures so a pack of four seems quite good. And if bred a bit they could be deadly! One of the best tames ever(only behind the bloodstalker and rock drake)ππ©πΆπ
More Hyaenodon Utility Tips
You can make them a meat pack wich works as a preserving bin.
Once tamed you cannot ride them but you can place saddle bags on it to act as a preserving bin and eating a dead corpse will regain its health almost instantly

Usage in game:
1) tame aid- can preserve prime meat allowing you to tame carnivores with ease.
2) pack hound- Iβd personally only recommend for packs of five and upward, but their ability to heal like Argents means they gain strength with every victory.
3) Pet- Their just cute.
Adorable!!! If you tame one you have a pet and a good damage dealer, but if you tame multiple.. more good doggos and HUGE damage!! Also meatpack serves as preserving bin!

The hyaenodon will let you know a few minutes ahead of time that it is going to rain. It will notify you using a sort of whimper and bark.
