Tips & Strategies

What are tips for gigantoraptor? Tips and strategies for gigantoraptor in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
Parent cannot he trapped or baby enters go into the imprint stage. Best bet is to have full asc ghillie and sneak into nest while parent is facing away. No eggs needed. If u prefer to use eggs then I've found yuti to be one of the best. Generally get at least 3 imprints per egg. Once baby is tamed the parent will no longer aggro on you but it's best to kill her as she won't spawn another baby there. Once grown you have the ability to imprint on any orphan baby dino by using its call then getting close to baby, putting cross-hairs on it and pressing triangle. You can also incubate 2 eggs at a time in the saddle which will not hatch after timer expires until prompted to do so. Add the eggs by placing in chickens inventory, selecting the egg, then in the centre bottom of screen u have the option to add egg to basket. You can also bond with any baby dino up to rex size I believe, by placing dino in basket and killing creatures that have a red skull n xbones over them. Once bonded you can then give the baby a 30% imprint by killing and eating a bunch of dino. Bonded dino also get a nice boost while close to the graptor, making them good to take to boss fights, paired with the yuti boost. Multiple dino can be bonded to one adult. Adult graptors also produce feathers u can plick every once in a while that will give a higher % chance to pass a pre determined higher stat to baby when breeding. Just place the desired feather type in the mother when breeding. Shares spawns with theri
Where to find.
Been seeing them in large numbers around green on. The spawn in jungles and I've noticed they most often spawn on the cliff edges on jungle mountains.
How to tame.
DO NOT KILL THE PARENT! We also could not get the baby to emote with the parent far away. Best to Dino door trap parent within 50ish feet (stone, they can damage wood).kill anything hostile in the area. Hide in the nest and mimic the babies emotes.
Raising.
Berries
Don't worry about trying to trap the parent.
Just put down a foundation and four walls, and throw your eggs in the middle. If you have the mats, make a bigger box with higher walls, and throw the eggs in different places throughout. The parent will aggro on the eggs but struggle to reach them, which will buy you more time.
I trapped two parents of two different nests with one trap using this method and tamed both babies without aggroing the parents.
Bonus tip: if your eggs hatch, the parents will relentlessly attempt to kill whatever has hatched.
I saw a video about it, if the parent dies you can’t tame it, has to dance with you while the parent leaves
Steps to tame on officials:
1) use bug and have partner
2)find nest you want
3)bug driver eats everything around then picks and holds parent the whole time facing away from nest but not too far from it
4)partner gets in the nest
5)partner tames baby then cryopods it
6)eat parent as they dont ever spawn another baby in nest
7)fly off into the distance happy as can be.
Congrats! Your first Gigantoraptor! And even got to save on eggs.
While raising: feed meat.
Seems to be timed like an allo. Give or take 30mins. Good Luck!
You need to put down an fert egg (giga or carcha best) wait for the giga raptor to start eating it then sit in nest and copy babie actions, taming afficence is dependant on what fert egg u use
You will need to sneak into the nest while the mother is alive and not aggro’d, the intended way to do this is with fertilised eggs as a distraction. Ghillie recommended. Once you are hidden in the nest the baby will approach and perform actions, this is a quick time event where you need to mimick those actions with ASD keys. Correct mimicry will fill the babies taming bar.
Bring cryopods or something that can carry the baby away like a rhynio so that you and the baby can bounce once the game is successful to avoid the now childless mother
Taming:
Take plenty of fertilised eggs.
Drop egg away from the nest, not too far or the parent wont go to it, not too close or the parent will aggro you while taming.
When parent goes to the egg, walk to nest (dont run) select option to hide in nest and wait for baby to come to you.
Mimic the emote the baby uses from the 3 emotes available.
repeat until baby is tamed.
Dont move out of render distance if aggrod or tame progress will be lost.
Spin
Bow
Flap
And be very careful not to get caught in the nest
Where do you find these things
First step, throw a fert. egg and distract the mother.
Second Step, sneak to the nest and press the hide button.
Third step, wait for the baby to approach and interact with you, mimic it and get the taming.
Fourth step, repeat it till it reaches 100% and go with it.
Beside that you can put only babies with same or lower level then the Gigantoraptor himself, they will feed from his inventory while they are still baby, so don’t need anymore handfeeding. And it seems that there is a size cap too, gigas don’t work.
As extra you can refresh imprinting of your babies with his special move and detect babies and wild babies.
Obrussa 🤝
Use fert eggs to agro the parent away, or use argy to kite them off a ledge, do not attack or kill parent as this will terminate the tame. After parent is away from nest, hide in nest by walking up and press indicated button, once hidden in nest, the baby will walk up to you and either Spin, Bow, or Flap, you must copy the dance by pressing the corresponding keys/buttons.
Will it be aggressive Like the amargasaur?
Despite being a half-measure by itself, the Gigantoraptor is a great monster to complement the tools and dinos you use for taming.
1. It is the only dino that can provide additional levels to wild babies that you tame (after killing the parent). Since it has 2 pouches to carry babies/eggs, you’re basically set to carry 2 wild baby dinos from the get go.
From my experience, the formula for calculating additional gained levels is ((wild baby dino level/2)*(Gigantoraptor manually gained levels/88))*wild baby taming efficiency. A 150lvl wild baby can therefore gain an additional 75lvls upon being tamed by a player on a Gigantoraptor.
2. Its bonding mechanic is great for finding high level dinos (the highest tier being dinos lvl90+). When carrying a high level (~180+lvl) non-adult unbonded dino, it will scan the vicinity for the highest lvl dino to target for the bonding mechanic. I’m unsure if the Gigantoraptor stats affect the range of its scan, but you can simply kill the targeted dino or leave the immediate area to reset the scan again at a better position. Since you need about ~20 targets to bond a high lvl dino, you don’t need to worry about hitting that limit that quickly.
Combine this with a Charge Pet (150lvl dino tracker), a Gene Scanner (tracking feature), and a Tek Bino (stat checker) can make your taming experience way more enjoyable, if not less stressful.
You’re gonna need a bunch of fertilized eggs for a high level one. The higher the level of the Gigantoraptor, the quicker it munches through your precious fertilized eggs. I was only able to get one interaction per giganoto egg, and on 1x, the bar goes up ~2.8% every interaction on a level 150.
On a level 20 g-raptor, I was able to get 3 interactions off per egg, and it went up ~11% every time on 1x.
If you’re on 1x taming, prepare to need 35+ giga eggs for a level 150.
You don’t need a ghillie suit to tame you just have to get an egg place it and wait for the mother to go to it then you jump in the nest and get the baby… THEN RUN FOR YOUR LIFE HE IS NOT STOPPING good luck
If you already have an adult gigantoraptor; use it to kill the mother, press R3 and claim the baby whilst still on your gigantoraptor, might have to chase it a bit 😂 then cryo it and go home.
On this last x2 on official abberation i used 5 rockdrake eggs on a 120 got roughly 20% each egg the mom ate. Once the mom starts eating the egg jump in with you ghillie suit on, i tried without ghillie and maybe just me but i got noticed
ANY fertilized eggs will work (I used dodo eggs no prob)
You do need fertilized eggs.I tested it, it didn’t care at all about the eggs that aren’t fertilized. And I’m pretty sure you can’t use a trap because I tested that as well and the baby was frozen.BUT the trap was kinda far away from the baby so if you put it really close to the nest it might work.
