Tips & Strategies

What are tips for gargantar? Tips and strategies for gargantar in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
Use ascendant torches, very cheap to make. 1 or two needed to knockout. Aggro then run til you hear the puking noise, seems you won't get a puke stack if you constantly block with Shield, and won't suck you up without stacks, so let it hit you a couple of times. The spit damage will shred you even if you are blocking.
Hope this helps!
First you want to have a good amount of ascendant items
Then you want to attack it with your character block bite attack with a shield, the acid spit is like artho breaks all armor in one shot so id advice to dodge once it performs an acid breath attack shield yourself but allow it to hit you a 3 times in the same breath to stack its debuff X3 right after itll inhale once inside act quick because it does damage but drop 2 ascendant items in its mouth or at least for a 150, levels 80 and lower seemed to work with 1 item, after doing so itll knock out go up to it and ride it, itll performer a roulette where it asks for 3 resources farm those with the vacuum attack and boom you have a tamed Gargantar levels 90 and above tend to take about 36 percent taming after one of this cycles so be ready to be their a minute on 1x.
Go naked with an okay shield, hit it a punch, shield its melee, tank its acid with meds, it’ll suck you up, then drop some useless ascendant stuff like saddles, pikes or whatever. 2 for level 85 or over. Pop more meds and hop on. Collect resources as instructed.(Ragnorak Volcano is super easy for this).
Enjoy your Dyson Jabba the Hutt 9000.
Taming easy guide:
So you need to let it vomit on you, no the spit ball attack that works similar to the centerpieds spit it breaks armour. Let it vomit on you to build x3 status affect down the bottom right. After that it will swallow you. Drop items higher rarity items means less is needed. That will knock it out and spit you out. After that you complete the mini game by gathering the materials it asks for. You continue till tamed. If you fail you must start back from the beginning.
Use a riot shield for best visibility when blocking its attacks. Bring plenty of medical brews as higher leveled creatures do lots of damage. Aggro it, and run as best you can because you will eventually get stuck in its model while it chases you. Let its acid spit and/globs hit you for at least 3 stacks of debuff and it should inhale you. Quickly drop at least 2 pieces of high level gear. Broken armor and equipment works just as well as functional gear for this case, but it will be lost when eaten by the creature. After it spits you out, quickly approach and "Ride" while and complete its 3-part cycle of minigame. A 135 gargantar takes 3 complete cycles of swallowing and minigames to tame on 1x official settings. These things are extremely tanky, even in the wild, and can inhale creatures up to the size of Karkinos, including wyverns. Be careful and happy hunting.
It is a really annoying tame in my opinion.
First you’ll need to gather a bunch of ascendent or even mastercraft gear.
Next you’ll need to get yourself some really good gear. Armor durability doesn’t seam to matter because I had armor with almost 1000 durability and it got destroyed so if you’d rather, just equip a few at a time. I also used a really good ascendant metal shield, which lasted me my whole taming process.
After you have your gear, you’ll need to find the one you want to tame.
Once you find it, you’ll need to agro it and wait for it to do the move where it starts spraying blobs at you. For me I didn’t take any damage while I was blocking with my metal shield but I did have to stop blocking and let it damage me to get the three blob stacks that I needed.
Once you have the three stacks, it will inhale you and that is when you’ll need to drop high rarity gear to knock it out. For me taming a lvl 100 it only took about two pieces of ascendent gear to knock it out each time but you’ll have to repeat this a few times so bring a lot of gear.
After it’s knocked out, you’ll need to hop on its back and ride it. Once you’re on it, it will spin a resource wheel to decide what resource you need to harvest. If if requires meat or other drops from creatures, you’ll need to kill it using the blob spray ability or have a friend kill the creature and then you’ll need to inhale the body. It will do this three times per cycle.
You’ll need to do this whole thing multiple times in order to fully tame it.
Also mine died literally five minutes after I tamed it to a lvl 100 lightning stego on the volcano island on Astraeos.
So bring a shield best thing I didn’t even know was gonna work. Acendant gear knocks it out in one shot and broke. Armour works as well. You can bring your own armour but it’s gonna be melted quick don’t bring your best maybe bring multiple sets and as they break feed them to him. Find an area that has stegos and trikes for the cretin as for some reason this was my biggest issue good luck dragon tamers
First you need to aggro this fat guy. He needs to spit his brown bone throw up gunk and you need to get covered. He then will vacuum you up. Then you must drop loot when you are vacuumed. He then will go to sleep and you can ride him. You will go through a mini game where he requests certain things to eat. Keratin/raw meat/raw prime/wood/stone/metal. (I may be missing something). Do this three times. He kicks you off. You do the process again until tamed. I did this with flak armor on. He melts it pretty quick tho with other attacks. If you die after being kicked off you do not lose taming effectiveness and can come back to finish.
Sincerely, a guy who died 12 times doing this day of release.
For official players 2x doesn’t effect the taming speed at all nor does it effect the amount that you gather when doing the minigame, there’s also some bugs at the moment that I’ve witness for example my dragon needed keratin so I found a trike which I’ve used before and it works swallowed the trike and it gave no meter for it same for carnos sometimes, or it’s kicked me off the back and said “you ran out of time” when I had 1 minute left just be careful!
Taming
Step one: tank acidic vomit
Step two: get x3 on vomit and then wait to get swallowed
Step three: drop at least ascendant or higher weapons or gear to knock it out temporarily. (2 ascendant or higher drops them) be quick.
Step four: mount the dragon and play minigame feeding it random resources it requests 3x successfully until kicked off.
Step five: repeat step one till tamed.
It’s fairly easy but also expensive because you’ll lose armor in one hit. Still testing better ways but that’s how tamed a 140 on official.
Taming works by getting spat on then swallowed. While in there you need to drop a high quality item so it gets knocked out. Just jump on and it's gonna roll a material you need to harvest(Stone/Wood/Keratin(not Chitin)/Metal/Prime Meat/Meat). After 3 rounds restart the process until it's tamed. Eats stone and sulfur btw
Its basically a flying tek stryder with dragontopia skills and some tankiness for flavor.
So far its a 65% or so weight reduction in standard resource harvesting (wood, metal, stone, etc…)
The real question is, can it harvest element dust from structures such as in Extinction or Lost Colony and if so, is there weight reduction?
Punched it, it eventually tucked me up, and there's a prompt that tells you to drop weapons for taming...never tamed it though.
To get in belly you need to have it stack three mucus balls on you the get sucked it to belly to start the taming process
This one is tricky because you dont want to wear your best gear when taming as it will break it quickly. Bring a shield, some healing brews, and several pairs of ascendant items to sacrifice to the creature.
It is passive so you will need to agro it, once aggressive, run away from it while waiting for it to hit you with a continuous spray of stomach acid. You will need to block the acid with your shield so it doesnt kill you (you cannot block the single projectile with the shield. It will still hit you and break any equipped armor you may be wearing).
Pay attention to the debuff you get when hit with the spray. You will need 3 stacks of the debuff applied to you after it stops spraying. After it stops spraying, It should then start to inhale you. Once in the creatures stomach you will continue to take damage, you need to quickly open your inventory and throw out 2 pieces of the ascendent quality gear.
You should then be spat out and the gargantar should be asleep. This is your chance to hop on it and get some taming effectiveness. Once mounted a wheel and timer will appear on your screen. Whatever resource the wheel stops on, you will have to consume with the gargantar within the time limit.
(Stone, metal, keratin, wood, meat or Prime meat).
Stone, metal, or wood, just run around holding down the primary action button (RT on xbox) and the gargantar should inhale the resources. For meat keratin or prime meat, you will have to kill some wild dinos to get those resources. So you will need to approach wild Dinos and hold down the secondary action (LT on Xbox) to spew acid on them to do damage.
You will have to do this 3 times in order to get some taming effectiveness. After collecting the third requested resource, you will be dismounted and the gargantar should agro onto you again. Repeat this process until tamed.
Have a shield and block until it swallows you. Don’t bother having armor, it’ll destroy it all anyway. Once it swallows you, drop high level gear till it knocks out. You then have a random roulette of resource to gather (stone, wood, keratin, raw meat, prime meat, metal). You have a set time before it kicks you off. Repeat till tamed. Good luck, tamed a 145 and it was kinda rough!
Prep: have ascendant gear you don’t need in your inventory and med brews (you get hurt when it swallows you). Find it, it doesn’t aggro on you at all. Step 1: punch it to aggro you. Step 2: while dodging its melee attacks (they hurt), get it to throw up a slime ball on you. Step 3: wait till it does its swallow attack and get sucked in its belly. Step 4: drop ascendant gear while in its belly until it gets knocked out and throws you up. Step 5: ride it. Step 6: get it what it wants by using its swallow/inhale skill. For raw meat/prime meat/keratin (items you get from Dinos), kill those Dinos that drop them and then inhale. Rinse and repeat until tamed.
Let it inhale you then whilst in its stomach drop wepons
Acendant is better have fun takes ages
Punch it hold up shield untill it swallows you, med brews needed as spit still does dmg with shield. While inside drop high tier tools/weapons untill it knocks out. Mount and harvest, use the suction ability, whatever the gacha machine lands on (stone/wood/meat/keratin/primemeat/meatal). Repeat until tamed
