I usually build a simple fence foundation and railing pen to use for passive tames. Then I’ll just take an Argy or a Dino able to carry them and drop them into the pen. That way they cant run half way across the map.

When you try to tame these guys, go up to the back and bring at least 2 stacks of mejoberries. Also if you see one near an allo just get away from it, it has a 0% chance of living. Hope this helped and thanks for having the time to read my tip

Here's how you tame an equus in ark mobile:

Step 1 : Do not mount on the equus. For some reason, the ark mobile equus don't like it. It increases taming with rockarrots like 2% and not mounted taming makes it 20% ( level 15)

Step 2 : Feed it rockarrots from a safe distance. Don't let it see you. You can approach their hind legs (dont touch them) and feed rockarrots. Otherwise it runs away.

Step 3 : If it runs away, just don't follow it, just see where it is going. If it loses aggro. It will not stare at you. Then feed it again

Step 4 : A good tip is to enable the 'Tame: Equus' pursuit so you save engrams for equus saddle and get one for free.

Follow the process for mobile and bam!! You got yourself an equus

This stinking thing!!! So annoying!!! I was taming it on a cliff and I was a bit slow and it knocked me off. RIGHT INTO A SWAMP. I swear, while everything was eating me, sarcophagus, titanoboa and mega parana, I saw it laughing at me.

Never try to tame an equus with 9 rocarrots while surrounded by a spino, a rex and a therinozaur.

These guys are easy to tame low level but a 150! The tame percentage drops as the horse runs do good luck ever taming a high level one. Unless! You knock it out build a box around it wait for it to wake up and the tame to your hearts content.

A pain in the backside to tame on mobile

Best for knockouts!!! Dose lots of torpor.

1.get a argy

2.find Equus with argy

3.pick up Equus with argy

4.drop into a taming pen

5.get a buttload of rockcarrots

6.tame your Equus

You can feed it then use a bola (which doesn’t lower effectiveness) and after that use fence foundations and walls to keep it in place and ride it for the duration of the tame. No need for it to run around randomly.

Feed it then mount. You won't be able to control it until the tame is done, dismounting appears to lower taming effectiveness so make sure you have a good supply of carrots (preferred food) on you. When it starts to buck you off you have to hit enter to feed it again. If you pay attention to the bottom left corner of your screen there will be a tool tip that will pop up when you can feed it abs just before it starts bucking.

1.Make a house for taming passive tamers

2.Find one

3.feed it rock carrots

4.ride it ti’ll it loves you (after it knocks you out 5 million times)

5. Ride it into the sunset

As of 12/23/23 if you are on console trying to tame these in Ark Ascended it’s bugged. During the taming process when you get prompted to feed the button to do so on console doesn’t work it’ll just buck you or you dismount it.

Whoever said mobiles pursuit was a fraud. It pretty much is, on mobile I think the taming is bugged because the first rockaroot gives about 25 taming, BUT THE NEXT ONES ONLY FILL 5-7% taming. The pursuit claims you need 5, but I ended up using around 30. I would highly recommend taming a trike to harvest a booty load of rockaroots in the jungle, that's what I did. Also don't learn the saddle engram if you do the pursuit because the quest rewards you with a journeyman saddle. The tame equus mission (on ark mobile) is a scam!!

It says to collect 5 rockarrot but it's barely enough to tame a equus

So carry atleast 50 rockarrots

be prepared to get Dizzy when taming the Equus

I had my turtle and moschops following me and they got it stuck on a rock between them holding it hostage while I tamed it, overall it didn’t run into anything dangerous cuz it couldn’t move. Then I named it Pony and it was eaten 10minutes later by a 145 carno. Rip

If you want to tame one without an argy for more realistic progression. You can bola one and place 4 fence foundations around it and 4 thatch walls on that. Then all you need to do is go out of render distance come back and start taming it safely. And yes under 1x taming DO NOT use berries because it will take HOURS. Only use simple kibble or carrots, even the other crops if you have no other choice

Bola it, make a 1x1 square around it with fence foundations and then place doorframes around the horse. Walk up, feed a carrot, and tame without having to run straight into the mouth of an Allosaur. You’re welcome. :)
