Place in cage and set to wander. If you do not do this they will escape whatever enclosure you have them in.

I wonder why this guy isn’t part of the top 5 on the list... seems fair though but they generate enough oil for days as long as you supply them with poop... they basically are a safer and easy way to gather oil.

For Mobile Players: There are multiple tips suggesting to put the beetle in a cage; don't. The little bugger has gotten out of mine several times and needed to be 'recalled'. Resorted to building a stone window frame box around him. Still gives access from any side, and he stays put.

They process different feces types at the same time. Fill them with some of each kind to maximize the speed they go at.

I love these things so much! I always keep a few of them at my base. They’re a passive tame that eats poop, i mean, what’s easier than that? I guess the hard part is its location. The easiest location to find them is the lower south cave. Be sure to bring a strong mount and arm yourself because the cave is home to some pretty nasty creatures. Once tamed they eat poop and produce fertilizer and oil. It only produces the oil and fertilizer if it’s set to wander, so just put in a cage.

On Ab, there are no Phiomias, so here's an alternative: If you go into the red mushrooms, you will poop... A lot. You can load all that poop on a dung beatle and get lots of fertilizer! It will give you more for bigger poop though.

Once you get 2+ dung beetles just go ahead and destroy your compost bins

Upgrade melee for range. Weight is useless . It will still collect poop and blackbox

Dung bettle very usefull cuz can make some poops into vertilizer and oil, u should have this one bugs if you are the farmer (usefull tip : you better tame it after having a green house and large corp plots)

Use a feeding trough so the food doesn’t weigh them down

Fun fact: On mobile, this b*stards can crawl out of the back of wooden cages. Either put the back to a wall or build a double high wooden post behind.

Utility: ‘Nuff said fam.

Also you should tame two at least, to keep up with the demands especially if you have a greenhouse already.

The Dung Beetle is a great creature to have. Will make Fertilizer and Oil when any kind of Feces is in its inventory. Make sure you have a phiomia as these guys are like best friends. Boost weight only to hold more feces . Have fun gardenening 😁

If you add unicorn residue in the beetles inventory, it doesn't spoil, but regular poop makes fertilizer and oil.

If the jellyfish is tamers’ heavens, these guys are farmers’ heavens.

Make a circle of Lystros. Put beetle(s) inside circle. Pet Lystros, feed beetle(s), store fertilizer in Lystro inventory. 300 per Lystro, no cage/fences needed. (Set follow to lowest and whistle one at a time to arrange Lystros.)

Recommend looking up the toilet fertilizer glitch, makes it so you don’t have to use one of these guys

Just like a Phioma, a Role Rat can ingest stimberry and will produce a lot of manure. Just make sure you’re riding it while feeding then transfer the feces to your Dung Beetle.
