Tips & Strategies

What are tips for drakeling? Tips and strategies for drakeling in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
I've seen them spawn on the center
Spring Drakeling = Aspect of Spring = +1%/+15 Health Regeneration, -10% Stamina Consumption, makes rare flowers
Summer Drakeling = Aspect of Summer = +10% Movement Speed, 25% CC Reduction, cooks food and jerky
Autumn Drakeling = Aspect of Autumn = +5% Melee Damage, +15% Harvesting, harvest speed/amount boost for food items
Winter Drakeling = Aspect of Winter = +10% Damage Resistance, +100 Insulation, preserve food longer.
I was wondering why it wasn't landing on my shoulder even with a regular torch equipped like the comment suggested. I finally realised that it was because I haven't bought the DLC they are in. So yeah you have to pay if you want one of these.
I’ve also seen them spawn on extinction, even though it shows that they do not spawn there I have seen it
Are you always hungry? Do you run out of cooked meat when out on your adventures? Well look no further. This little nugget turns your raw meat into cooked meat while on the move. No need for a campfire all the time. Stoves? Get them outta here. Get your drakeling today for a small fee of go get it yourself.
If you’re adventuring into areas heavy with these guys and don’t wanna lose tames I’ve found a pack of raptors works well and a well timed pounce attack can immobilize and make short work of them. Since these have been added to scorched earth I almost always travel with a few high level raptors because of this!
Just learned about this, dont sleep on these little critters, every drakeling has the ability to store xp from the player, upto I believe 30k. If you then take that stored xp and give it to a creature, the creature not only gains a ton of levels but you will also receive a new item called the dragon hoard, you use it like a treasure map, and the more xp you give to a creature at once the better the hoard will be. Im talking about massive massive payout. I've gotten kibble from every dragon hoard so far as well. Definitely worth having on your shoulder while out and about just for that.
Quick tip, go hunting for alphas. They definitely give the most stored xp to the drakeling. !!!
Their spawn commands are:
gmsummon "shoulderdragon_character_bp_summer_c" 150
gmsummon "shoulderdragon_character_bp_autumn_c" 150
gmsummon "shoulderdragon_character_bp_winter_c" 150
gmsummon "shoulderdragon_character_bp_spring_c" 150
The 150 can be any number, this indicates the lvl before taming. The only difference between each command is literally just the name of the season. You're welcome. Idk why the youtubers don't put this stuff up first thing.
From what I read, each variant can give different buffs and have different abilities;
I only tamed the The Winterly Drakeling so here’s what I learned with it:
It is found in the snow biomes.
It can slow your fall so you don’t take fall damage. (You can toggle it on or off).
It can give it’s winter buff to allies (10% damage increase and +100 insulation). It gives it to you when on your shoulder and buff your mount.
It has a blue breath attack, which can be used while in your hand or assist you when you’re fighting on your shoulder.
It accumulates xp and can give it to allies, including creatures.
To cycle between the breath attack, give buff or give xp, simply have it in your hand (like Cosmo it gives a weapon to equip on your hotbar) and press R, then right click on your target.
I’ll find the other variant and check out their abilities!
It is NOT a knockout tame. Use a torch to lure it in, then do whatever it says (just know it's XP related, like crafting, killing, etc) after you fill the bar up, you feed it using the last slot of your inventory (duh) keep repeating this and it will soon tame! Have fun, don't die!
Spring Drakelings - Highlands
Summer- Canyons
Winter- snow highlands
Autumn- edges of snow
If you have any Heavy Miner’s Helmets just laying around, you can equip one to your Drakeling. When you equip the Drakeling to your hotbar and select it, you’ll have a flashlight that you can attack with. (Highly recommend having helmets with the highest durability possible to provide you and your Drakeling with light for as long as possible)
Go out with the scanner to find the direct links and then whip out your torch when you get close and it'll land on your shoulder. Then it'll indicate what it wants you to do for experience either kill something craft something or harvest something. I found harvesting with a ascendant pic on wood to get thatch is very good XP and goes quick. I carry and ascendant shotgun for when it wants me to kill something. The shotgun works great because it's very fast and powerful. As far as the crafting goes carry the materials with you to make standing torches. Excellent XP and not too heavy to carry you can just throw away the torches that you make. Follow these tips and you'll have many many drakelings.
While taming it, don’t hop on a mount or go in the water. This will make it hop off your shoulder and interrupt the taming process.
For those of you that have the reusable things like torch and bola. You CANNOT use the reusable torch for taming. It only works with a regular primitive torch.
