Tips & Strategies

What are tips for drakeling? Tips and strategies for drakeling in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
Morter & pestles are perfect for taming these they max out the bar in one craft. Carry a stack of hide, harvest stone during the gathering phase and craft morters during the crafting phase.
You can find these on Valguero. I just found mine in the snow ( winter ) I have not seen yet in other parts of the map.
Equip a torch it will land on you and give you tasks complete
The spring drakeling requested you earn exp by doing tasks
Crafting
Harvesting
Or killing dinosaurs
You have 2 mins to complete the task then you feed it meat and repeat till tamed.
Hey so here it says that it doesnt spawn in Extintion but i saw one on extintion so idk whats up with that.
Hope this helped anyone
Approach with a torch out and it will land on your shoulder. It will then require you to gain a certain type of XP. So far I've come across crafting, harvesting and killing as requests. Once your XP fills the bar to 100 you can feed it exceptional kibble from the last slot of your hotbar. Rinse and repeat until tamed.
To tame, use a basic torch. I’ve found that if you have a cosmetic equipped to the torch (like the sparkler skin) it won’t land on your shoulder. I couldn’t figure out for the life of me why it wasn’t working, even after clearing some dinos out and harvesting corpses. After doing that, I've tamed quite a few. So yeah! Happy taming 😊
CAN DEF DAMAGE THATCH. Half my base was just wiped out by a summerling 😕
They prefer Exceptional Kibble (Yellow one)
You need to use a vanilla torch. It will not come to a reusable torch!!!
When you’re taming these, they’re gonna have you either CRAFT, KILL or HARVEST - if you don’t like the one it chooses, you can throw it off you to have it reroll for another task.
I recommend you build a 1x1 to throw it in or else it’ll fly off and you gotta chase it.
They aren’t aggressive towards you or medium sized creatures unless if they are attacked first. They will attack any small dinosaurs you have with you. It seems anything the size of a Parasaur or smaller they will attack.
1: Bring a torch (and equip it)
2: It'll come towards you and get on your shoulder
3: You'll now need to get one of three sources of xp; Harvest xp, Killing xp, or Crafting xp (for harvesting, chop down trees and for crafting do sleeping bags)
4: Once you fill up the appropriate bar with the corresponding xp, put yellow kibble into your taming slot (I used cyan) and feed it.
5: Repeat steps 3 & 4 until tamed
I have had these spawn on Scorched Earth by the blue water section of the river. Not sure if it's a bug as of yet or it's a feature but I have had a summer drakeling spawn on Scorched.
Use the cloth head armor for your crafting. Only requires fiber so easy to tame without needing a lot of material. Have a pickaxe or axe as well for the harvesting prompt, recommend pickaxe for the flint as it will way you down less. Then of course a sword or pike for the kill xp prompt. Prime Meat works great.
You cannot be on a tame or get on a tame if you want to tame these guys they’ll ignore you or just hop off your shoulder
Equip a torch to bring the drakeling to you, and then follow the prompts within the time limit to feed and gain taming progress.
They are cross breed able. Get eggs that are of the kind with most stats passed it seems
Also spawns on scorched earth, found multiple summer ones along the central river not sure if the other three types spawn as i havent found anything but summers yet
In order to tame one of these little guys, you’ll need to hold out a torch. It will then land on your arm and prompt you to complete one of three tasks before you can feed it: Kill, Harvest, or Craft things to gain XP. After each task, it will give you the option to feed it food from your hotbar.
From my testing, its preferred food is Exceptional Kibble.
Side note — all four seasonal variants of this creature:
• Spring
• Summer
• Autumn
• Winter
— tame the exact same way. Good luck and happy taming!
